You do realize that the yankees salary cap this year is lower than last year when they didnt make the playoffs right?

Its still over 200 million dollars. And I'm not going to be a hypocrite, the Sox are over 130 million this year. I really think there needs to be a cap, because this is absolutely out of hand. Its a sad world when entertainers make more money than doctors. I mean really, is it necessary for a baseball player to almost not sign because they were offered "only" 20 million instead of the 50 they wanted? Its really sickening to me, and I think it takes away from the sport. Kids don't play the game to play it, they blow themselves out early for the cash.

It looks like my favorite teams are both playing against LA: Boston Red Sox & St. Louis Cardinals.

If things are going the way I see it, it might end up being the Colorado Rockies Vs. the Minnesota Twins. Both teams are pesky and just won't give up.

I'm looking for a Yankees - Cardinals World Series, but I guess that depends on who's winning between the Twins and Tigers. Btw, if it ends up being a tie on the last game, do they play an additional game to see who gets the Division or do they use the wins-loss record between those two (twins and tigers?)

pretty intense one game playof for the AL Central. it's 4-4 after 8 innings.

whoever wins will have to overcome significant physical and emotional fatigue to play a game in NY in less than 24 hours.

5-5 AL Central 1 game Playoff.

Triple, Out, Walk, Single (scored run) walked person to third.

1st and 3rd. 1 Out. Bottom of 10th. If the Twins drive in the run, it could give them the win to take them to NY. But, whoever wins, will be absolutely exhausted for tomorrow where they play with the big boys.

EDIT: Zerowing, I meant that if they end up having the same record, what would happen? Turns out, they play a one game playoff.

EDIT 2: Twins got out, so now it's top of 11th. 5-5 AL Central Game. I'll keep you guys updated.

Really intense game going on. I was shouting very loudly when Casilla got thrown out at home. Really though, I think we could have won this in the ninth if they hadn't switched out Kubel for Gomez so quickly.

Still 5-5, two outs, no one on. It's looking better for the Twins at this point.

5-5 Again, Tigers 12th. Miguel Cabrera on 3rd, Don Kelly on 2nd. 1 out.

Even if the Twins do win. They'll be exhausted for tomorrow's game. From Michigan to NY is a pretty lengthy flight. Approx. 2 - 3 hr. flight I guess. Not to mention that they have a game with the Yanks, who're at home tomorrow. So, even if they do win, they'll probably head out for NY at around 12. Then, they'll reach NY at maybe 3 in the morning. 15 hrs left 'till game? I don't think that's enough time. But w/e the outcome, it's going to be time for some POST SEASON BASEBALL!!!

Twins win it in the twelfth! Of course they have no chance in playoffs but it's always nice to win the AL Central Division at least.

Yanks beating Cardinals in the World Series. 27 World Series wins! =D

All other predictions are wrong (unless somehow the Phillies manage to get into the World Series, but Fuck 'em.)

LET'S ROCK THIS '09 POST SEASON. IT'S THE INAUGURATIONAL SEASON FOR THE YANKEES BECAUSE THIS WILL BEGIN THE LONG ERA FOR THE SKIPPER'S WORLD SERIES WINS!!!!!

Lol, I guess you already know I am. Honestly though, it's the NLCS that I wanna see.

Here's the NLCS:
Cardinals - Dodgers
Phillies - Rockies

Here's the ALCS:
Yankees - Twins
Red Sox - Angels

Predictions guys?

Cardinals - Dodgers
Phillies - Rockies

Phillies are going to win, due to them just being better.

Phillies - Cardinals

Yankees - Twins
Red Sox - Angels

Red Sox need to beat the Angels since the Red Sox can defeat the Angels whereas the Yankees have a much tougher time defeating the Angels whereas they can just sweep the Red Sox.

Yankees - Red Sox

Unoriginal ALCS match-up since they play so many times in the regular season, however we might see some different attitudes in Post Season play.

Yankees - Cardinals

Obviously >.>

NLDS

Cardinals - Dodgers
Phillies - Rockies

ALDS
Yankees - Twins
Red Sox - Angels

NLCS
Cardinals - Rockies

ALCS
Yankees - Angels

World Series
Yankees - Cardinals

A couple of unorthadox predictions in there, but hey, I'd like to see it play it out like that.

I've got the Phils over the Red Sox in 6. Also, does anyone else find it odd that TBS would chose a biased play-by-play guy for the Angels-Red Sox Division Series? Don Orsillo is the daily play-by-play guy for the Red Sox on NESN... At least it's not Chip Carey (and the Braves aren't in the playoffs)...

Note on my prediction: Even though I'm from Philly I'm not a Phillies fan because I'm not origionally from there. So my pick isn't a 'homer' pick. In fact, I'm a Sox fan =) due to relatives in the area.

I'd be wary of the Yankees' pitching staff down the stretch, seeing as Burnett and Pettite aren't "consistent". I'm going to go against the grain and say that the Angels will take the ALDS in 4, the ALCS (vs Yankees) in 5, and lose to the Dodgers in 7 in the World Series.

It looks like the Cardinals have now dug themselves into a deep hole now as I can't seem them miraculously coming back after what happened this evening.

Pretty interesting predictions. Despite the fact that they aren't the most consistent duo, I believe the Yankees have more than enough offense to make up for a bad pitching performance in such a short series.
