Most Generation PRNG Help / Information

Thought I might mention something I'd noticed during my egg RNGing:
On certain seeds, and only on those certain seeds (I got some repeats from the same minute), wild pokémon had hold items. It happened twice with two different seeds, each giving me a certain Fearow with a sharp beak or a certain Roselia with a poison barb, and both times I got each respective Fearow/Roselia, they had their items. Seeing as the odds here are pretty astronomical (1/400 on two occasions), there must be something in this. Is there any evidence in the coding for hold items being attached to specific frames?

Since held items are random and therefore determined by the RNG, at the same time as the PID is generated, I would guess that item holding is assigned to certain frames, yes.

<&ExpertEvan> seems I'm missing or misclicking something. I hit a delay of 701 but my coin flips did not correspond according to time. am thinking I may have been off a second or so
<&ExpertEvan> is it possible to get different seeds at same time/delay?
<&ExpertEvan> so if I understand the time correlation (ie. 17:00:47). I press SR at 17:00:47 or is that when I press continue? I've been pressing SR at the time
<bearsfan092> I understand it as that's when you hit continue
<bearsfan092> That may explain why you aren't getting your expected results
Before I continue soft-reseting for naive heatran, I want to make sure I'm doing it right. Do I start at 17:00:47 or is that when I press continue after I started at around 17:00:29?

That's when you need to hit continue. So, you've calibrated your seconds, right? Then you'd need to do 17:00:47 - X Seconds, X being what you calibrated.

You want to hit continue at your target, so you have to subtract. So if your seconds were, say, 10, you'd want to start at 17:00:37, so you hit continue at 47.

Also, regarding the time that you press Continue...does it affect anything if I SR at 17:57:00, for instance, and wait on the continue screen for 59 seconds before clicking it?

As long as you press continue on the target frame's time, you should be ok. I cannot answer the other questions I'm afraid, I'm waiting for a full guide before I even attempt legends.

Okay, I just looked at Vliegtwig's link for different spreads of all 30's and 31's for IVs. It shows the seed, offset, and the PID numbers, my question is how do you get that offset?

Edit: I just found out that with each passing minute or minute and a half, the offset increases by about 6 so it's going to take me a while to get to an offset of 222:(

This is more of an opinion I'd like of a few IV abusers than a question, but, do you usually look for spreads in a reasonable time frame, or, do you not care about setting the clock to 2038 if you need to for a spread? Just wondering, because I can't find an HP Ice spread on my game with these parents until 2038.

Here's another EE dumb but important question:

If I'm scrolling through the journal from May 9 back to May 4, then back to May 9 with either the opposite direction or "B", does that still count as 10 scrolled pages to advance offset or is it still 5?

Ok, I'm using Syberia's physical spreads sheet and I want to get the adamant spread of: 30/30/30/10/31/31 which requires a seed of 404028e clicking the "continue" screen at exactly 4:56:59 on 5/29/09. I've done this exactly in synch with my computer clock and just got a 4040274 seed, did I do something wrong?

I mainly keep my spreads in the current month, because I don't do torsojuking. I find a spread beforehand and then find parents that fit that spread. It usually involves a lot less work, most of the time requiring one parent to only have one perfect stat.

I don't care about the date if it lets me get perfect Pokemon. Anyone can easily change the DS clock at will and can play with funny dates/times if they so choose.

Your delay - time from game start to pressing A at the continue screen. You seem to want 645 delay, but you got 619 instead. You either need a seed that you can hit closer to 619 delay or slow your button-pressing down to hit 645.

Okay, so this is aggravating.
I cant hit my delay. It sucks. Its too high.
I can nail the seconds and offset, just not the delay. Its driving me crazy. Is it just me or is the IV resetting process extremely nervewracking?

Hi i have a question: So in the directions it says to catch a pokemon and check its iv's to get the seed. If i go on wi-fi (to do an iv battle) would that advance the rng and throw off the whole process?

I know rare candies are the best method but I was just curious as to whether going on wi-fi alters the rng. Can anyone help me with this?

My friend is in the middle of learning how to RNG iv abuse and were at the calibration phase with a problem. His offset keeps fluctuating and is too random to be correct. He's getting values such as 253, 3083, 1075, etc. Can anyone let me know what he's doing wrong ?

Those look like the Offsets of a CAUGHT pokemon, not the EGG. You need these:

Second you entered the Game World (16 for example)
Delay from Reset to Continue (600 - 640 are all normal numbers I've seen)
and the Offset of the EGG (3 - 7 is normal here)

The Offset of the Egg is the Frame Number when you generate the IV list during Calibration.

Hope this helps.

Funny thing is...its not the offset of a wild pokemon. I'm following him through this and he's getting some really weird offsets. He knows the offset == frame number . His reset time is 14 and he has a delay range of 601-610.

check the DS time, and the times he's putting the the RNG reporter. Otherwise, I have no idea, unless he's waiting a million seconds to pick up the egg from the daycare.

You need to take the Daycare egg first, then catch a wild pokemon.
