Most Generation PRNG Help / Information

@Radius: You're welcome.

Anyways, just want to ask a question guys. How can I advance the RNG or frame on Whirl Islands since the Radio and Phonce Calls aren't working there. I'm trying to RNG capture Lugia anyway. Thanks!! :)

In the RNG Research someone else noticed that, and said about walking 128 steps * number of pokemon in your party to advance the frame..

Even though the Legendary pokemon isn't a wild pokemon like a bidoof, does it still advance the frame from the journal when it's captured on the Platinum version?

I'm not sure what legends you are talking about, but from what I read Legend captures work the same way as normal captures... Meaning journal advancements also work for legends. Let me know if that wasn't your question..

Diabolico: I've never had that particular problem, but I believe there would be a mention somewhere if that wasn't the case. I would assume it works the same way :)

I can't seem to RNG the shiny Gyarados in Lake of Rage. I'm nowhere near the seed I am supposed to hit. Does the frame advance incorrectly/randomly somehow?

Kepp in mind it's not raining and I am using a synch as usual. Is there something I don't know about?

you're treating it as a chained shiny and entering your tid/sid into rng reporter, right?

Ragnar: Also take careful note (in case you missed it in Bond's post) that Method is NOT K but is Chained Theoretical instead.

Diabolico: No problem :)

yeah, it's called "chained shiny(theoretical)" right below method 5 in rng reporter. you need to choose that and enter your info or everything will be wrong when you do catch it.

@chihuahua: I can't seem to understand the link that you've given to me.

Anyways, does you guys know any other way on how to advance the RNG in Lugia's cave? Thanks! :)

I think she was referring you to her source. When you walk 128 steps, the frame advances by one for each pokemon in your party.

Inside Lugia's cave, yes. If you were to do it right outside...you can advance it normally and then walk up to Lugia. Note you might have to do it twice in case your frame jumped in the time you walk up to Lugia.

So if I decided to advance the RNG outside of Lugia's cave and then go inside it after that, will the frame changes?

That depends on how many of those 128 steps you have left before it changes. It saves what step you're on when you save, I believe. If you hit 128 before reaching Lugia, yes, it'll change.

I see, but wouldn't I need to have the correct ID/SID to get the spread I want anyway?

I can't use RNGReporter from here to check what I am doing, but this is the information I'm using to get the Gyarados:

Seed: 0c0e02c2
Spread: 31/31/31/17/31/31

So since I'm using a different Method, I assume the frames and date would be entirely different as well?

the IVs should still be right, the nature will just change depending on the SID, i think. it's been awhile since i caught mine.

Thanks, is there a guide somewhere to how to do that (abusing the RNG to obtain a specific nature in preparation for a flawless egg)? I've been using the DPP Manipulation guide and I didn't see it (but I might have missed it).

Thanks for the help.

Still looking for a quick and dirty explanation of how to do this.
