Most Generation PRNG Help / Information

For those who were discussing it, catching flawless pokemon is so easy it's not even funny. 10-15 minutes tops once you know what you're doing. I don't even bother doing it anymore because there is really no challenge in it. At least with breeding you have to get egg moves and stuff, and you have to hit a frame in addition to your delay whereas with capturing you're only worried about the delay.

Tytus, there are two different emloop guides on the front page. I use Syberia's, and I find it easier now to hit longer delays than to hit my regular ones.
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. I'm still confused about frames though; the official site guide says that the excel sheet of recommended spreads is for method 1, and says something about using the seed you want and generating it as method J and searching for your IV spread in there to find your frame. But I've gone through Syberia's guide to getting nicer catch dates, and he didn't mention anything about frames in there, so was this step just skipped in his guide or can you disregard frames using his method?

Just to be clear I'm asking about how to catch flawless legends with sensible catch dates.

It is a method used only in 3rd Gen games in which different numbers are disregarded than in methods 1 and 2. It doesn't see much use.

From what I've gathered in the FR/LG RNG thread it's used "randomly" by the game every now and then, at least in FR/LG...

@ mattj: Yes that is correct.

There is a new feature in JavaRNG as of now. Instead of entering a maximum Delay, you can opt to enter a maximum amount of time you want to wait on the title screen. This now makes the GUI look like this:

JavaRNGVersion102Delay.jpg

I figured this would be useful for users that understand "I want to wait up to a minute." rather than going "I want a max delay of 1300."

That looks awesome Pikachu! Question (since I don't really know much about programming XD): Since it's Java, will it run on a Mac? That'd be awesome as I won't have to reset my computer to use Boot Camp every time I want to RNG something.

Yes, it will run on a Mac! I eventually hope to upgrade it to a full RNG Reporter-like program to be even more awesome, but that will take some time.

Does anyone have any suggestions for the program? If I can't implement them now, I will try to eventually.

Hello I have a question concerning pokeradar RNG, I ma trying to RNG a shiny baltoy but it is turning out to be difficult getting the baltoy to appear in the sparkling patch to start the chain. My question is that if any progress has been made concerning encounter slots for the pokeradar or do i just have to keep trying randomly hoping for a baltoy to appear in the sparkling patch?

thanks you for any help
in case someone missed the question and i'd like to rephrase it, im asking if anyone has a method of obtaining the desired slot during an chain using pokerdar RNG since baltoy is said to appear in certain encounter slots (6-11 im not entirley sure without looking at the tables) while using the pokeradar but i cant be sure if he's going to appear is there a way or method to land on baltoy's slot when I use the pokeradar?

any help is appreciated

As far as I know, you will just have to get lucky :(.

Someone else might know, I am mot very experienced in Radar RNGing.

That is a brilliant features. Great idea!

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. RNGReporter should run on OSX using Mono. (I don't think anyone's disproved this, if you have and I missed it let me know

Thanks!
I did not know that. If people can indeed run RNG Reporter on Macs without using Bootcamp, then there would be little reason for me to write it, then.

One small suggestion I have is to possibly put the natures/Hidden Power types from the drop down menus in alphabetical order (but still keeping "any" at the top). Looks great!

Also, what's this new development I'm hearing about using the RNG to get a desired ID/SID combo?

I will work on that.

And yes, you can RNG IDs. See "Pandora's Box" in Wild Eep's post on the first page.

Yes, to find the spread you want for legends, you will need to take the seed from that sheet (or use PokeRNG to find one) and then use RNG Reporter to generate the seed under method J. Make sure you put in the synch nature and correct IVs, and then you should be able to see a list of frames your target will be on. After you do that then you will be able to use Syberia's steps to help you calibrate and finally to catch your target. The reason Syberia's post doesn't explain that is probably because it assumes the reader would have a certain degree of knowledge about RNG capturing if they are ready to try to use emloop. Hopefully that helps.

Edit:
Ah oups. XP
Yeah that is odd...=/ I think it happened to me once or twice..but I my attempt were for year 2009 only, it sometimes, rarely happens in breeding too..., are you certain you just hitted your SID/ID combo that was (8561) and when you hitted AT 2010, it changed to (8562) cause the advancement of year without you noticing? Or did you have it wrong and check the delay afterwards?
Yeah Test I guess the way I explained it didn't really make sense. By changing the year to 2010 it made my target 8560, which I hit the first try. I guess that didn't help since I now have no idea whether I ever would have been able to hit an odd delay or not. It seems that I would have had to have an even year to hit my target because every delay I got the whole time was even, regardless of year, GBA game, etc. So I guess it would be nice to know what other people are seeing/have seen when doing this. I don't know, I guess I would have to do it again to really test anything like that, but since I already got my target I won't be doing it any time soon lol.

I can confirm that I've seen the same thing: When using ID finder, I noticed my delay would jump around from even to odd, and I also eventually found that when I did get it right, the delays on my Pearl cart all remained odd when I would catch pokemon. (I lost my old GBA games)

I need a little help atm. It's about RNG abusing Dialga on Pokemon Diamond or for those that has RNG abused Palkia on Pearl.

I forgot that you can't run up and save in front of Dialga when its time to catch him, XD. Would I save as close as possible to Dialga, save, hit my seed, do my journal flips, then walk up one step(same way as pressing "A") to catch Dialga w/ my desired Spread?

Thats what I did for my Palkia and it worked just fine. IIRC it's 3 steps from Rowan, then the 4th step activates it. Just take 2 steps, save, take another, if it doesn't activate save, etc...

Thanks pal, well...I'm about to take a hike up the mountain then, XD. Let's see how I do.

Is there a way to get a roamer to a particular area? =o

Quickest way is to go to any place where the "route" changes, and then go back and forth between those 2 places with your "marking map" out. Every single time you move from place to place, the roamer will randomly jump to different places on your marking map. Eventually he'll end up in the same place you are (usually 5 mins or less).

You can't use Sweet Scent in the ash, but I'm not sure if it counts as a weather effect. Haven't seen many wild Skarmory or Camerupt catches from there so I'm guessing it is.

i cant seem to hit my delay ive been trying for over 1 hour now
its a delay that i always hit and for some reason i keep hitting other delays

edit: for the shiny abuse part i hit the same delay in a mere 3 goes
all i did was change the date by 18 days in same month for the final iv abuse
