1) I thought I had read that talking to your Pokémon didn't advance the RNg, but turning did. I guess I got it wrong.
2) How do you tune the radio? do you just drag the tuner and release it anywhere or do you have to keep holding it while tuning? I'm still really new to HGSS RNG abusing, so you'll have to forgive my n00bness.
1) Both do, but in very different ways. In my experience RNGing a Timid 30/31/30/31/31/31 Raikou, I found that the amount of frame advancements for turning
(but not to or from you poke, it's different) was
strangely inconsistent. For example, 72 turns advenced my frame by 118, but 73 advanced it by 120. Neither numbers are divisible by anything "normal", plus if you hit a different seed, 72 turns will advance your frame by something different?! However, it is consistent when turning when you have hit your same seed, which was a huge relief!
About the talking... If you go to the RNG Research thread, there's a little guide about it there toward the end.
2) About the radio...I didn't try that much, but apparently, the advancements are based upon what time of day you happen to be in. Certain times of day do not advance at all, but others are consistent. If you do a search in this thread for the word "detune" you'll find a little guide about it.
On my SoulSilver game i've been trying to abuse for a Flawless Mew. I used rare candies to check what seed I had hit and it was the correct one. However, the frame my spread was on was 16 but I had gotten 25 instead. I had been using the NPC to advance the frame but I can never get them to advance it by the right amount of Frames.
Is it: 1 step / 1 step + turn = 2 advances
or
1 step = 1 advance | 1 step + turn = 2 advances
Or is it completely different? :/
Firstly, just in my experience, at least some of the things that advance frames seem to be tied to what seed you hit in HG/SS (Sweet Scenting, turning in place, etc...), so the NPC's movements may be as well, it may just be that you
cannot hit that particular frame with the movements of the NPCs on that particular seed...
Experiment with it though. You might be able to hit it anyway. :)
