I think the only other option you may have messed up on, if you didn't mess up on the time in hours and mins, is that you may have put in the wrong date or picked the wrong seed.
 
International parents. More PID combinations, so more possibilities for shiny, and likely fewer taps.
But good luck getting decent international parents.

Is one of your parents holding an Everstone?
Do you have 5 pokes in your party at the beginning of the process?

I made a ton of little mistakes like that that kept messing me up. I'm sure there are more I'm forgetting but that's all I can think of right now.
 
I wanted to use my Action Replay to check the IVs but when I reset the codes don't work. Is there a better way to check IVs as opposed to leveling it to 100 with Rare Candies and then putting it in MetalKid's calculator?

When you soft reset while using AR the codes don't work. You have to hard reset (turn the game off and on manually with the switch)

It's not recommended for long periods of time because it can wear down/eventually break the switch.

You get shorter delays by hitting "A" through the opening title screens as quickly as possible. You also need to hit "A" on the continue screen as quickly as possible.

Also, I don't understand the gender thing with the shiny spreads. Say I want a specific gender on my egg. I see the percentage columns, which I assume are gender ratios. Is there not a set gender with each spread, or am I missing something?

Gender is determined by a number between 0 and 255, which is a subset of the PID.

The number is always there but means different things to different Pokemon depending on their gender ratio. This why I can't just say "It's male" or "It's female". You basically have to know the ratio of what you are breeding and then cross reference that to the correct column in the grid.

I believe X-Acts PID guide has a great writeup if the number ranges for each Gender ratio, you are interested.

What am I supposed to do for IV breeding? I found the spread 31/31/31/a/b/b at 4/6/09 at 20:02:12 but how do I get it? I realize that the guide isnt up yet so you don;t have to answer this if its too complicated'

I've noticed that the # of taps are organized from lowest to highest (So the first PID you are given when you click generate will have the lowest taps, while the last PID will have the highest).

The first PID generated is Quiet @ 11K taps, and the last one is Bold @ 81K taps. I've gotten as low as ~200 before. Just look for the nature you want in the first few PIDs.

Though, it wouldn't matter because I have like flawless parents for whatever I want to breed...

Did you make sure that none of your parents have an Everstone?
Have the shiny box highlighted?
Have DPPt Egg PID (Normal) for method?
Are not using international parents?

Yes, but why are you resetting after catching a pokemon? What exactly are you doing?

Find it's delay and offset.

Do this a few times and use the delay/offset you get the most in the DPPt Time Finder. Now generate seeds for the IV's you want.

Take the egg on the exact same date (including seconds) as the Time Finder tells you to do, and hope you got the right delay/offset.

Jonny explained how this works via MSN, but that was before 4.01 was released.

That is pokerealm's guide. Here is some stuff by me, just copied and pasted from a pm.

Ok, I'll try my best. Delay is how long from the game starts till you hit continue, messured in frames. There are 60 frames per second.
Offset is how many frames in you get your pokemon at.
Note: In game, the frame for the pokemon does not go by 60 per second.

What you should do is about 20 test runs.
I use an AR and have 2 ds with the same time. I find the start time I hit start for AR, then keep hitting a and find the time you hit continue. For me it is a 17 second difference. You want to find the delay you get the most and use the reverse thing to find a range of good IVs with those delay. Also, find your offset from saving in front of an egg and take it immediately, so keep hitting A from the continue screen. My offset is normally 5. My average delay is between 620 and 630 so I use those numbers for the RNG thing.

So here is my example. I go for a set 30/31/30/b/b/b, something like that it doesn't matter.
The time for it is 7:03:47 with delay 628, offset 5.

I change my time to that on both ds. I start the one with the AR and hit the start button at my difference time between start and continue, which is 17. So, hit start at 7:03:30 and keep hitting A after that and hope the delay I get is the one I need.


The offset may depend on when you save in front of an egg so you should calculate it every time you start SRing a new egg.
