how do i know if youngster joey is seeking a rematch? my target frame for my egg pid is 6, so would i call him 2 times and reject one egg and take the second one to get my shiny egg? (i've already verified my seed with roamers+elm calls)

so i started the game up, called elm 9 times which verfiyed i was on the correct seed. called joey and then put the parents in the day care. i the rode around on my bike until an egg appeared, i saved in front of the dc man and then hatched the egg, but it wasnt shiny. what did i do wrong?

Apparently Joey usually wants to battle on a Monday, so avoid Mondays for RNG breeding.

Do you have roamers out?

Check your OT and Sid in RNG reporter. Check that you have the international parents clicked if you are using them, or not clicked if you are not. Then, if all that is correct, go to my guide and see if you deviated at all from what I do.

I will soon be trying to catch the legendary birds in my platinum game but must kill them first to respawn them and stuff. I have never tried going for a method 1 pokemon, and even less three at the same time.

The guide says that one bird appears at frame 1, the other at 6 and the third at frame 11 . My question is: this frame refers to what? the save frame before talking to Oak (I'm assuming that the whole RNG abuse must be done before talking to Oak) or the frame you will find them in a patch of grass(if this even makes sense)? Using the files given in the guide for seeds, will these IVs be for the first bird I catch or for all of them? Or how exactly is it determined? Does the coin flip trick work here? If so, should be done when? Before or after talking to Oak?

What's the best way around catching these birds?

If anyone could help me catch these birds, I would really appreciate and be willing to catch it in the nature and IV spread of your choice (to give you a copy of course).

my seed is 430301f8 and i'm going for a shiny sassy egg on frame 6. i called youngster joey twice took one egg and saved before the second one. i hatch the second one to find out i hit frame 8. so i hatched the first egg and it was my shiny sassy egg. is this the skipping that the egg rng in hg/ss is known for? or did i do something wrong?

I've only had skipping when I've had incoming calls. I try not to take even frames for this reason, but I have managed to get my shiny egg on even frames a couple of times without skipping. Is your seed close to the end of the day? I was advised to avoid that. I also avoid being close to the end of the hour.

well thanks for the help mzenken and Chamommy. i just read your guide, so i know what to do now :)

and the time is 3:17:44, but i closed my ds and ate dinner after hitting my seed so the time rolled over to the next hour.

I have been trying to figure out how to get good spreads on the pokewalker. Mattj on the serebii forums had a few good spreads, they got posted in the Winner's Path thread. I am having a VERY difficult time finding the method he used to get the Brave spread, as I search through the entirety of the Method 1 pokemon spreads for that year and I come up with nothing.

I can't even plug in the IV's to get the seed. When I plug the timing he used (2031-10-25 02:14:00 with zero delay), the seed I come up with shows the correct IV's in the Wondercard IV section on frame 1. Also, the Timid spread posted in the same thread, which was caught on frame 1 on the pokewalker apparently rather than frame 0, shows up perfectly fine when I do a search in Method one, but it's one frame off (it's listed as frame 1, but the technique said to capture 2 pokemon, and the second would have the spread, that advances the frame by one, so it should be listed as frame 2?).

Is there a way to get RNG Reporter to display frame 0 pokemon spreads? That's apparently how the Brave one was generated, and I would like to know how to search for my own spreads.

How do you RNG fossils in D/P?
The same way you RNG any Method 1 pokemon.

find your wanted seed.
Give desired pokemon's fossil to researcher and then save game.
Then just a matter of hitting your correct seed and frame remember collecting the fossil increases frame by 1 so allow for that and also there are no NPC's in D/P to worry about.

Just wanted to say that I had an experience just like Human said a few times already, when it's impossible to hit a delay on a certain day, and when you change the date you get it almost instantly.

I wanted to hit 6303039a, the delay is 912, so I chose 2010 05 16 - 3:12:02
I've tried at least 20 times, I use PikaTimer and I'm quite good at hitting my seed now so it seemed weird that I couldn't get that one, I checked in RNGReporter and kept getting 910 and 914 delay, and a few 916, but not ONCE 912.
Then I tried to input "914" as other delay in PikaTimer, and tried ~10 times again but nothing to do, never hit 912. So I tried what Human said and changed date.

I selected 2010 05 17 - 3:17:02 and hit the seed in 2 tries.
Is this pure bad luck / randomness or does such thing as unreachable delay on a certain day exist, after all ?

I've noticed huge swinging delays in HGSS. There are some seeds that I can't hit no matter what because they go 50+/- or more and I can't predict when they will swing up or down. I can change the seed, sometimes stay on the same date and get the target after only a few tries. So it seems to be some random thing HGSS does, at least my HG card does.

My Egg lies on Frame 5, target Frame is 17.
17-5=12/2=6
I switch the Journal 6 times, yet I end up on Frame 16.

Is my calculation wrong or does my egg simply not lie on Frame 5?

Okay, I am 100% sure the egg was on Frame 5 when I calibrated before. Now it is on Frame 163. Do NPCs moving change the Frame when they move before I save?
€: Nvm, i screwed something up lol

Your calculations are correct, but perhaps Cowgirl movement frigged up your RNG. I had this problem as well. I need an odd frame and kept getting one frame lower despite hitting the seed per happiness taps. I was told to try and save when the Cowgirls are not moving but also when the bunny is in the box.

I'm trying to abuse the RNG for the first time and I've found most of the information I need but I still have a few questions. I'm going to RNG for 31/x/31/31/31/31 and 31/31/31/x/31/31 Dittos on Route 218 in Pearl. I know how to do nearly everything but I still have a few questions before I try.

1. Is it possible to control the kind of pokemon you will run into when you use Sweet Scent? Otherwise I'm gonna have a bunch of fun trying to spawn a Ditto...

2. Is doing this even worth it? It will help later when I'm trying to abuse for shiny/flawless eggs, right?

3. Instead of doing journal flips, can I just switch to the step counter on the Poketech (after I do the coin flips to verify my seed) and step in grass moving up, left, right, down, etc. in a 2 x 2 square (so I can advance the frame by 2 each step/turn while keeping track of my steps) or will the switch from coin flip app to step counter mess everything up, even if I don't allow the screen to come up for any other app?

Sorry if these questions are really obvious or have been answered earlier. Thanks in advance for the help.
