Most Generation PRNG Help / Information

On a seed where the desired spread appears multiple times(ex: Frame 32, 34, 36, ect), will they all yield the same wild Pokemon? Like, say if I'm headbutting trees, and I get the wanted IV spread, but the Pokemon is a Hoothoot rather than Pineco, will all of those spreads always yield Hoothoots? I know the Nature, Gender, and IVs are always the same for all the frames sharing the same spread, but do they also share the same Pokemon?

No. You have to check the encounter slots for every frame. All of them are different.

EDIT: I'm not completely sure about headbutting trees, but for the others, this is the way to go.

Okay, so I should just set my timer for 6 minutes and .013 seconds (that has the frame I want) and interact with the legendary I want (in my case Registeel) when that time has been reached? and that'll give me the spread I want?

Use a specified 3rd generation timer. All you do is input the frame, and it creates a timer for you.

And yes.

Failing miserably at HGSS shiny egg :S

I followed the instruction for Pikatimer and put in calibrated second as 14 and calibrated delay as 480.

My seed requires a delay of 649 and a second of 14, so I put those two in the wanted delay/seed respectively.

I change the dates/time on my DS so that I'm on the same date and one minute before my seed.

Then I start up Pikatimer, and wait to start the game from the DS menu until the first timer runs out. When the first timer runs out, I start the game, and when the second timer runs out, I hit continue and enter the game world. The first time I got in, I had a delay of 620 or so, and a seconds of 15. So I put the delay into Pikatimer, and updated it.

However, ever since I updated it, I keep hitting seconds of 12 and I keep drifting further and further away from my wanted delay of 649.....I'm at 12 seconds and 580 delay right now.

Any advice on tweaking Pikatimer to hit my seed?

Don't use Pikatimer. It gives you rather inconsistent times. Use ToastPlusOne's timer. Also, for HG/SS, you should be hitting around 13 seconds consistently if it's a retail cart.

Okay, when I calibrated I got 13 seconds most of time, so I should replace calibrated seconds with 13? I will try out that timer. Thanks :)

Quick question about HGSS breeding, I don't want a shiny poke, so do I just put a random SID in so it won't be shiny, but will have the nature, ability, and gender I specified?

If you do this you'll have to use non-international parents, as well as leave that box unchecked on the RNG reporter.

Started using ZomgTimer. Results were good at first, but then it started to get bad again.
The most accurate I got was hitting a 695 delay when my target delay was 694. But after that, my delay starting dropping drastically, going all the way down to 540. My seconds went out the window as well, going as high as 17 and as low as 8, which doesn't quite make sense to me? I thought seconds were the amount of seconds it takes to get from starting the game to the game world?

Also, my seconds are rather strange. When I calibrated, I hit 13 seconds every time, but now that I am trying to hit my seed, I have almost never hit 13 seconds. In fact, I have only hit it twice I believe....

Anyways, the main problems:
-What is my calibrated delay? I did mine by just finding the average of all the delays I hit during calibration, but I'm not sure if this is right.

-How do I hit my seconds value correctly? I did it fine during calibration, but now my seconds are highly inconsistent.

-How do I use ZomgTimer to properly hit a seed? I understand that I start the game after 1st timer, then enter game world after 2nd timer, but something is wrong that keeps steering me away from my delay. I think it has something to do with the Update button. Every time I update, it increases the value of the second timer, which somehow makes my delay...lower?

You will only ever hit odd or even delays. And no -- seconds are the seconds on the DS' clock. Delay is the time it takes to get from the title screen to ingame.

Calibrated delay is really just a value that says what delays you usually hit. It's not really accurate, and should only be used with the timer.

And what kind of DS do you have? That determines if you'll hit odd or even delays. Original DSes hit even, DS lites hit odd, and I think DSis hit even. If you have a GBA Pokémon game in it reverses whether you hit odd or even delays.

I have a DSi, but always hit odd delays. Since it's a DSi, I can't put a GBA in it. I have a original DS that I could use though, but I don't think I should do so, since the L and R buttons are somewhat unresponsive, making it hard to SR.

You can change the year to change the delay. Going 1 year down will make the delay go up 1 to hit the same seed.

Narrow your seconds down to +/- 1. Even if you hit horribly, as long as you're following the correct procedure, you wont go outside of this range. (ID/SID abuse is an exception here, but for a perfectly explainable reason)

Well, I already hit odd delays, and since my target frame was already odd, I don't think that would have done anything.

Does narrowing seconds to +/- 1 help accuracy? I'm pretty sure I would fall out of that range most of the time, I've been observing times of 15-16 seconds usually, where my target is 13. :/

It switches the target delay, not what you hit.

Narrowing it helps to keep from getting false results. It shouldn't be possible to be getting that far off unless you're doing something wrong. What are you RNGing for exactly?

What are your calibration settings (second, delay)?

Can anyone tell me how to install pikatimer? When I extract the .jar, it gives me a million files but no program. Help?
Use toastplusone's timer. It's in his sig (he posted somewhere above) and he has a thread that explains it. It's pretty easy to download, too.

I've tried that one too, unfortunately. I have even looked at the thread. It just gives me a million files when I extract.

Check your VM. There's no extracting, no installing. It's a stand-alone executable. Just double click on it.

As xElite said, you need Java as well.

So I found the link to http://prng.infos.cx/timer.html on the front page. This seems really useful for helping me hit my delay when there's no computer available.

Problem is, I don't know how to use it.

I'm trying to hit a delay of 1234 with the seconds value as 14.

Would someone please explain to me how to use it?

I believe I've found an error with the HGSS info.

The set of Kanto starters appear to be on staggered frames, just like the Johto set. I was aiming for a 471 frame for Squirtle and got 475. I hadn't realized that the 1/5/9 frame thing meant I'd have to subtract 4 frames... ah well, now I know. Should I message OmegaDonut, or is this thread monitored?

Since Squirtle is in the middle on the table, I would assume it's Charmander 1, Squirtle 5, Bulbasaur 9. There's a spinning idiot in Oak's lab, but I'm pretty sure he didn't get a frame in (certainly not four).

Also, 484 delay is REALLY hard to hit for me. :\ "Fast as I can" usually gets 486 or 488. I've been lucky and have had a bunch of targets in that range so far...

Ok, this is what I am aiming for:

Date: 19 / 12 /2010
Time: 15:11:14
Delay: 605
Starting Frame: 3
Frame: 17
Coin Flips for Seed: T,H,H,H,H,H,T,H,H,T
Result: A/31/31/30/A/A
31/31/31/30/31/31

The problem is I can only seem to hit even delays, I consistantly hit 606 and 608. Is there any way to more accurately hit my delay?
