Like last year, one competition will have two separate parts. First, there will be a weekly prediction not unlike the regular season. Matchups will be posted, and your picks must be posted IN THIS THREAD every week. In the second competition, you will make predictions for the ENTIRE PLAYOFFS. Seeding is very, very important in this step, so I'll walk you through it in a bit.
But first, general rules:
But first, general rules:
Rules said:1. Due to the short nature of this competition, late entries will not be accepted.
2. Failure to submit a prediction by gametime will result in a forfeit of that game: no exceptions. If the game kicks off at 1:00 EST and you submit at 1:02 EST, tough shit.
3. In addition to this, any edits to posts after the first games kick off will result in the forfeiting of all prior games. If you make your guesses for the saturday games and sunday games in the same post, then decide to edit your sunday afternoon pick on sunday morning by editing that post, you will be given losses for the two saturday games. Instead, make a new post with your changed picks.
4. Do NOT get into discussions/debates with other peoples' picks. No flaming, no bashing, no "omg why did you pick them" etc. Tips are OK, but it's preferable to keep them in the NFL discussion thread instead.
Don't worry, I've got your back. But Killah, I don't understand. Hold my hand, please?
Part one is easy, I'll post something like this:
Wild Card Schedule
Cincinnati (#6) @ Houston (#3)
Minnesotta (#6) @ Green Bay (#3)
Indianapolis (#5) @ Baltimore (#4)
Seattle (#5) @ Washington (#4)
and you respond with something like this:
and that's it. Every week I'll count up the number of picks you got right, awarding 1 point per correct choice, and every week you will post your picks for the next round. Rules #2 and #3 are very important for this; if on Saturday night you decide you want to switch to Seattle, do NOT edit your post! I will assume you switched your stupid Vikings pick to the obviously correct Green Bay choice, and even if you didn't I'll still give you 0 points for that matchup.

Part 2 is more complicated. If you don't know how NFL playoff matchup seedings work, then I suggest reading all of it.
The Wild Card round will be largely the same. You do not have to make separate picks for this round in part 1 or part 2; if you just post the four winners for the first round, I'll assume you were choosing them for part 1 and part 2. The important part is the next round.
Remember, the LOWEST REMAINING seed after the wild card round plays the #1 seed. If you chose the #3 Packers and #5 Seahawks to win, then the next round would be the Seahawks @ #1 Falcons and the Packers @ #2 49ers. If you get it the other way around, you'll probably fuck the entire bracket up and that's never a good thing. The higher seed is always the home team.
You get points for correct winners, NOT correct matchups. If you say that Denver is going to beat Baltimore in the divisional round, and instead they beat Cincinnati, you will still get credit.
Here is this year's schedule:
AFC
#1 Denver @ BYE
#2 New England @ BYE
#6 Cincinnati @ #3 Houston
#5 Indianapolis @ #4 Baltimore
NFC
#1 Atlanta @ BYE
#2 San Francisco @ BYE
#6 Minnesotta @ #3 Green Bay
#5 Seattle @ #4 Washington
Here is an example of what your picks will look like:
