-FL-, you probably weren't here when the announcement was made but now you're going to have to provide a description of what you think of the song you're listening to, and if you want to you can add a rating as well. Also, the "formula" for now playing here is artist - song.

Dinosaur Jr. - Get Me

J Mascis has an awesome voice, it's sad and almost croaky but that's part of why I love Dinosaur Jr. There's a bit of backup vocals from female in some parts, and a pretty cool not-radio guitar solo about halfway through. Distorted walls of noise and all that are here, so that's an automatic good song. Not as good as others, but still solid.

8/10

John Mayer - I Don't Trust Myself (With Loving You)

If I had to describe this song in one word: DEAD SEXY. I never thought I could possibly get into John Mayer, but God how can I resist with songs like this? Driven by an organ, yes that's how sexy it is (see what I did there?) with even sexier guitar licks played overtop, complete with Stratocaster solo. This man is no mere guitar artist however...he sure can write and create great atmospheres for chillaxed listening. If all you've heard is "Waiting on the World to Change" you can't possibly understand what I mean 'cause that song is bollocks.

9/10

Built To Spill - Carry The Zero

Ok, Perfect From Now On may be superior to Keep It Like A Secret overall, but Secret can at least boast about having the best BtS song. "Indie" doesn't get much better then this.

"Indie" doesn't get much better then this.

Well, to be technical about it, they're signed onto RCA records, not exactly indie... but I get your point. :pimp:

Morphine - The Night

Every time I hear this song, I feel so sad about Mark Sandman. This is such a beautifully understated song from an underappreciated band.

9/10

No-Man -- "Angel Gets Caught in the Beauty Trap"

Killer song. Beautiful harpish keyboard and piano set the mood for this track. One of the greatest examples of art rock I've ever heard.

9/10 -- This isn't a perfect song, but it's damn near close.

!!! - Shit Scheisse Merde (Pt. 1)

There are two parts, this one has better vocals, pt. 2 has better instrumental, anyway this song is what pretty much describes chk chk chk as awesome.

10/!!!

Death Cab For Cutie - All is Full of Love

A gorgeous cover. Ironically, iTunes played this song right after a Bjork song.

9.6/10

Portugal. The Man - Tommy

I'm really into this band now, and not just 'cause of the name, this song is phenomenal, the constant loop on the rhythm is really great here, and the guitar on the chorus is just priceless.

10/10

Be Your Own Pet - Bicycle, Bicycle, You Are My Bicycle

Certainly different from the music I normally listen to. Energetic and fast rock with female vocals (that suck somehow). Though, I do like experimenting with new artists and I've never heard this song before, so I guess it's cool that I found this on my playlist.

5.5/10

King Crimson - 21st Century Schizoid Man

Best King Crimson song ever. The vocals are pretty great and are what basicly rates this 10/10, the instrumental is so pink-floydish

10/10

Beth Gibbons - Funny Time of Year

Working togetherwith Rustin' Man, Beth Gibbons, former Portishead vocalist released a solo album. This time, instead of relying on fast-tempo electronic beats, she makes a folkish weary sound. The songs are slowpaced and Funny Time of Year is no different. What sets it apart from the rest of the album is the climax at the end where her voice gets slightly distorted.

Iron Maiden - 2 Minutes To Midnight

I wonder why did Iron Maiden name this song as "2 Minutes To Midnight" (which is also in the chorus) when the song is almost 6 minutes long, and therefore by the end of the song it would be 3 Minutes Past Midnight, or perhaps Iron Maiden's clock is stuck at 11:58 PM GMT. Anyway, enough of the title's analysis, and on a more serious note, this song has good vocals, really great riffs, a nice guitar solo in the middle and a flowing chorus. However, the lyrics are very cheesy and ._. "To kill the unborn in the womb", "The killer's breed or the Demon's seed", etc., (though this song is good for someone who isn't a "lyrics person" I guess) and this song is kind of overrated (ironically I think I have overrated it a bit too) which are the reasons why it will only get a 8.5/10.

Something to do with the length of time it takes a Nuclear war to wipe us all out I think..

Testament - Return To Serenity

This is what happens when a Thrash band plays a ballad, it actually sounds pretty good - Chuck Billy can sing pretty well when he tries to and the rest of the band is musically capable which is all you really need, the lyrics are excellent - not exactly cheery but excellent. 9.5/10.

lo at the testament song

Machinae Supremacy - Flagcarrier

weird vocals, a bit slow and balladish for a power metal band, I don't know how to describe this one. It's... un-MaSu for me. 6/10

Ladytron - High Rise

Witching Hour opener, pretty much all Ladytron songs have female vocals, which are spectacular, a great electronica band, recommended.

8.5/10

King Crimson - 21st Century Schizoid Man

Best King Crimson song ever. The vocals are pretty great and are what basicly rates this 10/10, the instrumental is so pink-floydish

10/10

I'm going to have to disagree (at least in my opinion). Starless is the best King Crimson. But I must say you can't go wrong with any Crimson, it's all 10/10.

Moving on my now playing is: Yellow Matter Custard - A Day in the Life
For those of you that don't know (or can't tell). Yellow Matter Custard is a line from "I am the Walrus" meaning they are a Beatles cover band. Sure I usually hate cover bands but take a little peek at who is in the band and I would recommend you check them out if you are into the Beats.
10/10 because the song is bliss for me.

Finally I just wanted to add this is my first post in about a year and I'm going to try to ease my way back into the community a bit. Also nice to see the forums are really active.

Well as long as we're discussing Red, my favorite song from that album is One More Red Nightmare, which I posted on here previous page(s) ago. Starless is one of my favorite songs too, next to The Court Of The Crimson King.

!!! - Take Ecstasy With Me

This song is neat, near the middle, violins come into play, and they remind me of my youth somehow, this song is really beautiful.

9/10

Blink 182 - The Party Song

Completely the opposite of what Norulz said, but still remind me of my youth :D "And then I saw her standing there, with green eyes and long blonde hair, she wasn't wearing underwear" is a geinus line. Also haven't listened to any Blink for ages and I forgot how much they own xD

9/10

Bright Eyes - The Calendar Hung Itself...

Probably my favourite Bright Eyes song at the moment. It's fast paced and has a very bouncy rhythm, yet it's one of the most depressed songs I've ever heard. Very expressive vocally...Connor Oberst shouts way out of his range, evidently to a girl he loves. Brilliant lyrics as usual.

9.5/10
