I found out what was disturbing me about Zelda Skyward Sword: there is no new 'feature'. In all the previous Zelda games, you had a focus on one big new ability, be it time travel, wolf transformation, wind control, train driving or whatever; in the new one, there's nothing but the sword and the new control scheme, but the control scheme itself is nothing new and as I said earlier it might even turn out boring and annoying...
I don't know about that... Eiji Aonuma gave away in an interview with the Guardian that Link may be able to fly in this game... not to mention that in that trailer, he leapt off a cliff, and the camera appeared to be moving through the clouds in that sort of way... the name "Skyward Sword" seems to lend itself in that direction...
Granted, they didn't say anything about this at E3, but you never know, 6 months is a long time in which to get new information, and we didn't get all that much at E3 regardless. Still, food for thought.
Strange to say, I'm really liking the new look of the Zelda game, but I dislike this reliance on waving your arms about to swing a virtual sword - if I wanted to do that I'd go and play tennis. I've always been a fan of cel-shaded graphics, as they are something that draws a firm line between slightly jolly-jack-tar Wind Waker and the darker, more subtle Twilight Princess. Not to mention the nostalgia of the thing, as it reminds me so much of OOT and Majora's Mask it's uncanny. Still, something tells me that they'll do the same thing they did with Wind Waker and Twilight Princess for the Wii - release a game with suspect graphics, then start working on another game with the best graphics the console can get, then overshoot and have to port the entire game onto a next-gen console. Still, if I can get the new Zelda game, I will - no sense having a Wii unless you use it...
On other topics, I might get Kid Icarus, bu I'm not really interested in any of the others... I was hoping for some new B&W info or a new Star Fox game, but I didn't get either. Still, best make the most of a situation.
