Official MLB 2012 Season Thread

Neither, hence the frown! I know any pitcher at Coors is dangerous but I thought he was worth the risky given his form. Apparently not :( 8 ER...

Damn, and here I was as a Yankee fan hoping he finally found a home at SanFran, guess he'll stay a journeyman for his career then.

Forgot about that, saw the last three outs on MLB Network, just a masterpiece. It was made even better with the small 20,000+ crowd all cheering, especially King Felix's court. That was the best part to see them out there. So, lets get every King Felix start on TV from now on, y/y?

Year of the Pitcher more like Decade of the Pitcher god damn. Six in the last five years (okay 2009 isn't the 2010's), three this year? Couldn't happen to a better dood this time, though. Hail to the King.

Pitching in this league is just getting SO good. I wouldn't be shocked at all if we have even more this year and couple the next year! Perfect games are going to lose their novelty eventually.

On this note, it's like, look at how many strikeouts are occuring nowadays. It's insane. The bar has been raised incredibly high.

yo butteredtoast we need to pick a day to start....ahem....looking towards the future with this Red Sox team. The post of mine criticizing the Sox that you insulted me over is coming true

It is. But I think the death of the great Johnny Pesky has actually brought this team together a bit. I've going to give it a week, and if it's not better, then I will give up. But I still have a bit of hope...

Like Parappa the Rapper said, you gotta believe.

The 17th fucking inning just ended in St. Louis. They're still going at it. I hope it goes 20+!

I also hope these two teams wear each other out like crazy so the Reds can keep increasing their big lead in the division hehehehehe

Am I the only one who hates all these WHAT'S WITH BOSTON / IT'S NOT ALL BOBBY'S FAULT!1 / IT'S ALL BOBBY'S FAULT!111111" articles? Like god damn teams are not invincible, just look at the Chicago Cubs.

Did anyone even care about the Red Sox since before maybe 10 years ago? I only started paying attention to MLB again a couple years ago but it sure seems like the SUPER EPIC YANKEES-SOX RIVALRY didn't mean dick back in the day (i.e. the 90's). Kinda like the Cowboys-Redskins rivalry currently, except less relevant because the NFL is like fifty times better than MLB.

Oh hey 19th inning, but the Pirates just took a dump on... whoever the hell the Cards had left to pitch. inb4jerrymeals?

Yankees and Red Sox fans did... though I do get what you're saying, it seems like it's way overblown. I mean, the Red Sox-Yankees game is on ESPN Sunday Night Baseball, this is really the best game they could come up with? Look, there's games between teams that are top wild card contenders -

LAA-TB
BAL-DET
LAD-ATL
PIT-STL

any of those four games would probably be more interesting to have on Sunday Night Baseball than BOS-NYY.

I might be completely wrong, but I think ESPN has to buy the rights to games they want to air well in advance, like before the season starts, so they had no idea that those games would actually be good match ups. Who the fuck would've thought that Pittsburgh-St. Louis would actually be a critical match-up that could decide a playoff spot lol.

But still, they definitely show Yankees and Red Sox a hell of a lot more than anybody else.

Continuing the east coast bias, Carl Crawford is confirmed to undergo Tommy John surgery on Thursday. So far not a good investment on the part of the Red Sox, but I genuinely hope that changes in the future.

So Strasburg served me a tall glass of shut the fuck up yesterday. When it started raining I threw my hands up and said, "Well there's no way he comes back out after the rain delay. We're screwed." He went six innings with 10 Ks and only 1 ER.

Feels good to be seven games over the second place team.

As a Nationals fan, are you actually happy that they continue to trot Strasburg out there when they've been so vehement that he will not exceed 160-180 innings? Wouldn't you like to see them conserve him for the playoffs?

;)

No, because there is no guarantee that he'll pitch well in the playoffs if he sits right now. I also think we should do whatever his doctors say because there is no reason to go all in for a WS and risk the career of the guy who is your future. If we were in first place because we had a bunch of players who we knew were going to be gone at the end of the year then maybe you go all in. But all evidence points to us being better next year. We'll have a fully healthy Strasburg and Ryan Zimmerman. Harper, Lombardozzi, and Moore will all have a year of playing under their belt. And the only notable players I think might leave are Edwin Jackson and LaRoche. And we've got money.
