Official NBA 2010-11 Season Thread

Eh to be fair they did rally at several points in the game, and they did lose by 8 instead of the 18 or so they were trailling for most of the game.

But yeah, chemistry needs a wee bit of work in there. Especially if they're losing to essentially the old men of basketball.

Losing to the Celtics is never a bad thing.

That offense and perimeter defense they had IS a had thing, though.

edit: "To be honest, if I was outside this picture and a betting man, I would probably pick us to be outside of the playoffs considering all the changes and the new guys," team leader Steve Nash said after Sunday's team practice.

Lmao Shinryu, even Steve Nash disagrees with you about the Sun's chances!

I know, I mentioned that last page lol. It's pretty damn sad considering Nash is usually the upbeat go-getter.

But yeah, nice to know Hedo whateverthefuckhislastnameis, Hacky-War-something, and the not-wacky-named Josh Childress (can I call him bball chilly?) all suck and pretty much did nothing to help against Portland. Whoever had the "bright" idea to sink money into these 3 losers instead of Stoudmire needs to be fired, unless they all have the ability to go "super saiyan" like Dragic can.

yeah what an opener.. tells us a lot about miami heat already. not that they suck all-together, its just boston celtics remain real great as a unit because they already discovered that chemistry quality that miami heat seems to lack. lets not forget rondo is improving and looks much better than last year and when your vocal point is running your team properly, you'll win more games. miami heat doesn't even have a legit point guard to begin with and i'm predicting that their primary textbook play throughout the entire year will be isolation (lol)

I wouldn't group him with Gasol. He has a better paint game, but Bosh is the better defender by miles.
are you kidding me? by miles? you see.. the only thing bosh has over gasol is quickness + aggresiveness and ability to finish with both hands and drive either lane. gasol is a good defender - grounded, knows his position well, and has decent lateral quickness. bosh is a good defender, but not a stellar defender as you make it.

All are great players in their own right under the right system. Hedo worked for the Magic because he was playing his natural position. Hakeem Warrick is more of a bench scorer. Josh Childress... I don't even know lol.

Robin Lopez is really the only big man you have that can rebound the ball, and as I said during the summer, size matters. Hedo isn't a 4 (no matter what the Suns organization will tell you). Portland pounded on the board like crazy.

I really don't know what went into that decision honestly. I guess they made one of those "rush moves" where you just make a move to give the crowd and team something to care about. Unfortunately, I actually predicted the Suns to miss the playoffs.

(1) Los Angeles Lakers

(2) Dallas Mavericks

(3) Utah Jazz

(4) Oklahoma City Thunder

(5) Portland Trailblazers

(6) San Antonio Spurs

(7) Houston Rockets

(8) Denver Nuggets

(1) Boston Celtics

(2) Orlando Magic

(3) Miami Heat

(4) Milwaukee Bucks

(5) Atlanta Hawks

(6) Chicago Bulls

(7) Washington Wizards

(8) New York Knicks

Your first few games actually do involve teams bigger than you (or at least some dominant 4 or 5). If they can win at least one of them, they can still survive.

I guess it's not by miles looking at last night..

A rally occurs in almost any game between two good teams. One team will inexorably be down by 10-15 points in I would guess at least half of all games (that is only 5-7 baskets and some chump change in free throws).

Obviously it is just one game, however, and not necessarily indicative of how good or bad the team will be all season, but it certainly was lackluster compared to what the team hoped for from all this.

This goes to show you that Lebron's supporting was never bad. He already had it. They kept signing people but he kept blaming it on the cast. LOL, this is great.

>Win second game of the season at home
>LeBron's supporting cast in Cleveland was never a problem

Yeah again, we can all react to individual games as much as we want, but nothing has added up to anything meaningful yet. Any team can lose any game, it does not necessarily prove anything about Cleveland yet; Cleveland being 60-22 or better end of the season is the only way to prove they "did not need Lebron" (and that is not going to happen lol)

EDIT: I looked at the box score. The leading scorer was Hickson, who was incredibly fucking beyond stupidly limited to like 10 minutes or less a game in round 2, despite having been a great playoff performer to that point. The collapse last year was still atrocious, but this proves that the coach was an imbecile, not that the supporting cast suddenly did better.

How bout my Nets?!?

If the Nets have a Healthy Murphy.

If Favors can get his game up in 25-40 games.

The Nets will make the playoffs. Maybe the 7th or 8th seed. But they can be a playoff team. Such an awesome coach Avery Johnson. And if the Bench, Williams/Farmar keep it going. My Nets will be a tough humble team...

Of course his supporting cast wasnt bad.... He had two former all stars, and 4 if you count Shaq and Z in it... Last night was just another showing of how Lebron is not a winner... Bosh with 8 points? Wade was injured, but 13 after having 30 tonight is inexcusable, its obvious teamates just let Lebron go to work instead of being involved

man, the bucks could've won that game yesterday. unfortunate for salmons who didn't get the foul call, but probably cause we failed in free-throws. :/ at least like 5 players were around the 15+ points, jennings w/ 10 assists as well as bogut coming back real fresh! and bulls lost too w/o boozer!

The Heat just need to find their place. Right now Wade and Lebron don't have experience playing together and it shows. Once they figure it out (especially when Miller comes back) it's hard to doubt they'll be a force to be reckoned with.

I think they're going to be obliterated by the Magic tonight, though.

As for the Cavs, yeah, Brown was an abysmal offensive coach. There was no reason for him not to give more minutes to Hickson and a few other guys who were playing really well against the Celtics. He stuck with what he did all season, made no adjustments, and got thoroughly embarrassed for it.

So who here is pumped about Blake Griffin? His first game was monstrous, he battled hard for every one of those points and rebounds. I just hope his play style doesn't get him hurt, he's a lot of fun to watch.

*is also on the bandwagon*

Well, they looked better than they did against the Celtics. Wade was the showstopper this time it looked like, so it'll be Bosh's turn next.

And I call BS scheduling the Suns to play the Lakers in their own home-opener right after an away game...how lame.

Ah nothing like homecooking to get the haters off your back. Now then, if I may request that Chris Bosh stops shitting the bed. To his defense though, I will give him that he's gone up against Dwight and Kevin Garnett but still, he has to knock down the wide open looks he's getting.

Theyve played 3 games already... the words takeover and Bosh will never be used in the same sentence ever

I've known that Amare has a nice shot...but I don't think I've ever seen him hit 2 threes in a game before. Kinda like when big Z drained those 3 three's in a row from the corner last season - you knew he had the stroke but never had seen it happen in a game.
