Well that pretty much seals me then, as I'll be gone from the 21st to the 27th :(. More likely than not they'll hold the battles on the weekends, and I doubt they'll move the battle dates a week later. Thanks for the info, though.

OK, I've already come up with what I think is a pretty good strategy, but it is hinged on the bet that I can EV train Heatran even though it is level 50. Is this actually possible or will Heatran be utterly useless in this tournament? If I can, do I need to do the box trick or something? Thanks for the help.

What would a good Trick Room Cresslia set be?

I was thinking something like,

Cresslia@Lum Berry
Relaxed Nature
252 HP/252 Def/4 SpA
-Trick Room
-Psychic
-Lunar Dance
-Toxic

Are people starting to use Netbattle to practice for this yet? Or is it still very messed up with the end of turns being wrong that it's not possible to play correctly?

i dont use net battle i play PBR or challenge other people. i really think you should try battleing on PBR or other people online.

For what it's worth, Battle Revolution is sometimes a good resource. For the past couple months, I've battled a ton of japanese teams that fit the tournament rules. Must have been them practicing for their own events.

Though, more often than that I was battling 2 shiny Dialgas and 2 shiny Kyogres, all with leftovers.

lol, thanks for pointing that out. also even if you fight an all uber team its still practice and if you beat it even better for your team.lol

Edit: whats Europe's Metagame since we'll be seeing Japan and Europe?

I personaly been practicing on PBR and among my team mates. i have come to have a couple of very solid teams.

but i would just practice among your peers. you battle others, and give each other ideas and pointers.

I wish I had close peers who liked to battle in this style. I think if I do make the trip, I have my team settled, but I just enjoy this format so much that I want to use alot of different teams just for fun :).

I wonder if they will try and convince PTO's to run these events alongside the actual TCG Regionals. The timeframe + name could indicate so IMO.

Dear...God...No.

TCG Regionals + VGC Regionals = ABSOLUTE CHAOS!
I know it wont be going on at the same time here in utah, as we have TCG regionals this year. Maybe have it 1-2 weeks inetween.

I have a simple question, what is the average moveset for a latios? Its just that when building my team i got stuck since i have no idea how to handle latios who is so popular in this metagame (it is correct to call this a metagame right?)

I wish they would announce when/where are the regional qualifiers so that we can plan accordingly since there may be at least 1-2 days which will make it impossible for me to attend. Hopefully New York, Boston or even Philadelphia would be nice regional location choices.

well ok ill edit it.lol anyways what do you think of the move set?
I like the set but I'm pretty sure Cresslia needs Defense EVs. Also netbattle probably isn't the best for this, right now PBR should be the thing to use. Numbuh is working on putting double battles on Shoddy but I have no idea how close he is to being finished.

They'll probably announce it in a few weeks or so, I assume the Qualifiers in the United States will take place around the TCG Regionals, which is around mid-April.

I'm really hoping I can make it to a European Regional Qualifier, though it'll obviously have to be in the UK.

I am wondering though, since Platinum isn't even out in Europe until May 22nd, will we have to use Diamond and Pearl for the qualifiers and Platinum at the finals? It just seems a little odd as I doubt they can expect everyone in Europe to buy Pokémon Platinum on Import or on release and play through the majority of it to be able to get a team going before the Finals in late June. (And above all this the Regionals would have to be done pretty quickly through late May / early June).

I'm assuming there could only be one Regional Qualifier in England if the majority of Europe is going to be included, so that could be problematic. I wouldn't expect us to see our UK Shaymin Event until the Summer, so the tournaments seem unlikely to be run alongside such an Event.

Perhaps the European tournaments won't even have anything to do with the Americans...

We'll just have to wait and see I guess, I wouldn't mind not getting to go to America again if our tournaments aren't hosted until the Summer (but it does say America and Europe in Spring on the site) as long as we do get a tournament that I can play in.

ok i need help, if i EV train my snoralx how will i get the max love for return in Platinum if i EV train it to level 50 in diamond for testing?

Soothe Bell/massages/poffins/Super Contests, etc. That question REALLY could have gone in the simple questions/answers thread btw.

EDIT: BEFORE I GET YELLED AT FOR MINI-MODDING: I was simply advising our good friend user Haku16 here, not attempting to say that he should be punished etc.

Massages, walking around (Soothe Bell helps there).

That's about it without levelling. You could always go for Frustration :D (though, you're happiness doesn't start at zero).

I find the fastest way to increase happiness by using EV lowering berries and then right after you use a Vitamin to cancel the effect (though your EV for that stat must be <100 to work. Alternatively, you can just vitamin a random stat when you have 508 EVs in total, then berry it, and so on). BOTH the berries and vitamins increase happiness. Holding a Soothe Bell will also help with this. Though you'll need a fair amount of both berries and vitamins

In just a few minutes I maximized my Latias' happiness using a combination of this and massages (20 EV lowering berries, 20 vitamins, Soothe Bell, 2 massages, some walking)
EDIT: theamericandream: I won't scream at you ^_^
EDIT2: Haku16: Frustration has 102 BP max, like Return. To make a Pokemon unhappy, just faint it often and let it eat Revival Herbs which will cut up its happiness in no time.
