I'm going to the Seattle one, not expecting to get very far.
I have only just found out I'm going, and so I need to make up a team. I've got my pokemon and have already used vitamins to start on EVs, but I'm not sure I'll have time to finished EV training them. What are the chances that I'll actually need to finish EV training my team?
I can't imagine they would do too badly, but I would fail against other Smogoners. Would it be absolutely worth it to force myself to EV cram? I doubt I'd finish in time for next Saturday...
If you use items and/or pokerus, each pokemon should only take you an hour or so. Since you only need 4 pokemon, I don't see why you couldn't finish ev training them. You would be in a far worse situation if you didn't have your pokemon yet, but the way it is I see no reason for you to be unprepared.
I will most likely be at the San Francisco tournament with my brother and possibly a friend. Hopefully either my brother, me or my friend will get to play in the tournament. My brother goes by the name Deaglebeagle.
Yeah, I'll probably slap on some items and go from there. I am only training four pokemon, but I do have to work around homework and housework. I guess I'll be up late tonight then. Good luck to you if you're going.
So I will be close to Nashville (I'll be in Hermitage) during the summer. I would like to go to the Nashville tournament and meet some fellow Smogoners, but I would have to figure out how to get there since I won't have a car. If I can go I don't know if I will participate since I don't have a team, only just recently purchased Platinum, and don't think I have enough time to breed some good Pokemon. I might just use whatever I currently have =P
Well, next year has already been confirmed, but idk if they actually do have them every year.Do they have these every year?
Or maybe you could just show up for moral support for those who are prepared, because you don't want to be an ass and take someone's spot that is spending a lot of money to get to the tournament in the first place!
Hey flying from Puerto Rico is not cheap either. I know what you mean, but what I meant was that while I might not have a properly bred team (no 31 IVs, but good enough), I will still have some good strategies. Also blame Nintendo's super random system for picking player >=(

Rofl, you should know as well as anyone else that emailing them will not get shit accomplished. They do what they want, and either we agree and go along or "leave", only to eventually come back at some unspecified point in the future. Not nintendo, but TPCi (The Pokemon Company intl.) if you don't like the system to enter the tournament email them at:
organizedplay@go-pokemon.com
they cannot do something about it unless somebody tells them there is something wrong with it.
Just saw the video. Though the Infernape team was going to win, but when Jolteon got Rain Dance in, that caused a lot of trouble. The guy also had a lot of bad hax, Meteor Mash getting a crit. early on, and so many Blizzards missing.
Several people on here have expressed concern about driving / flying miles and miles to a qualifier only to be turned away at the gate because of too many people showing up. Is there any history to support such concern? I thought waaaaaaaaay earlier in this thread people talked about not very many people showing up at JAA and other big events?
Last year the Pokemon Video Game Showdown 2008 had a lot of competitors. Many of the people who took the quiz came to the tourney site however, so alternates had to be picked. There were 132 in New York and around 200 in L.A. Of those, only 128 from each got into the tournament. This year, there are widespread tournament sites. There is also no quiz to filter out the people who can't tell the difference between Taunt and Torment, or something like that. Thus there will be more per qualifier.
Hey just want to ask wouldnt it be a good idea to form teams after the first regional goes down on the 9th? I mean i have pokemon ready at level 50 but i want to see the strategies made to counter act them. After all im flying to nashville from NYC and at least want to have a chance winning it all or at least getting the travel package!!!
