Well, I still am updating the list. When each qualifier passes, I'll edit in notes telling which of the attendees from the list were winners, runner-ups, and semifinalists (I'll make Bold for winners, Underlined for runner-ups, and Italics for semifinalists).

I'm going to the Seattle one, not expecting to get very far.

I have only just found out I'm going, and so I need to make up a team. I've got my pokemon and have already used vitamins to start on EVs, but I'm not sure I'll have time to finished EV training them. What are the chances that I'll actually need to finish EV training my team?

I can't imagine they would do too badly, but I would fail against other Smogoners. Would it be absolutely worth it to force myself to EV cram? I doubt I'd finish in time for next Saturday...

If you use items and/or pokerus, each pokemon should only take you an hour or so. Since you only need 4 pokemon, I don't see why you couldn't finish ev training them. You would be in a far worse situation if you didn't have your pokemon yet, but the way it is I see no reason for you to be unprepared.

Yeah, I'll probably slap on some items and go from there. I am only training four pokemon, but I do have to work around homework and housework. I guess I'll be up late tonight then. Good luck to you if you're going.

So I will be close to Nashville (I'll be in Hermitage) during the summer. I would like to go to the Nashville tournament and meet some fellow Smogoners, but I would have to figure out how to get there since I won't have a car. If I can go I don't know if I will participate since I don't have a team, only just recently purchased Platinum, and don't think I have enough time to breed some good Pokemon. I might just use whatever I currently have =P

I will most likely be at the San Francisco tournament with my brother and possibly a friend. Hopefully either my brother, me or my friend will get to play in the tournament. My brother goes by the name Deaglebeagle.

I'll be there, so maybe we'll see each other. =)

On a side note, skarmbliss.com is having a VGCS warmup tournament. I know that some of you have already signed up, but for those who haven't, there are still spots available. signups end May 5th I believe, so that's in a day or two. It follows the same rules as the VGCS itself, so it's perfect practice for the stops.

Thanks, I'll be in Nashville. Good luck to you as well.

Or maybe you could just show up for moral support for those who are prepared, because you don't want to be an ass and take someone's spot that is spending a lot of money to get to the tournament in the first place!

Just a question, for the final battles, which I assume are on PBR like last year, will you be able to bring all 6 and then choose? Or just bring four onto PBR?

I'm curious because if we can than I'll breed more for my team, if not than thanks!

Hey flying from Puerto Rico is not cheap either. I know what you mean, but what I meant was that while I might not have a properly bred team (no 31 IVs, but good enough), I will still have some good strategies. Also blame Nintendo's super random system for picking player >=(

Not nintendo, but TPCi (The Pokemon Company intl.) if you don't like the system to enter the tournament email them at:
organizedplay@go-pokemon.com

they cannot do something about it unless somebody tells them there is something wrong with it.

lol I know, it's not your fault. Also, I meant that you would already be in Nashville, while I normally would not. You still have to pay a lot of money, but you will be in the Nashville whether you go to the tournament or not. I was just expressing my dislike for the system, as well as how disappointed I would be to get there and not get a spot in the tournament.

Just saw the video. Though the Infernape team was going to win, but when Jolteon got Rain Dance in, that caused a lot of trouble. The guy also had a lot of bad hax, Meteor Mash getting a crit. early on, and so many Blizzards missing.

Rofl, you should know as well as anyone else that emailing them will not get shit accomplished. They do what they want, and either we agree and go along or "leave", only to eventually come back at some unspecified point in the future.

I agree, I thought the one guy with the TR/Hail team was gonna pull of a win, but yeah, once that Rain Dance got off, it went downhill from there. Hax was definitely a major player also; Blizzard missing twice in a row on both Pokemon? That is definitely a WTF?! worthy situation. I think if he could have KOed the Jolteon (when Quick Claw got off) and have KOed it, the Lax likely could have also been KOed if FP didn't crit, as FP seemed to be doing some rather unimpressive damage on the Glaceon.

Several people on here have expressed concern about driving / flying miles and miles to a qualifier only to be turned away at the gate because of too many people showing up. Is there any history to support such concern? I thought waaaaaaaaay earlier in this thread people talked about not very many people showing up at JAA and other big events?

Last year the Pokemon Video Game Showdown 2008 had a lot of competitors. Many of the people who took the quiz came to the tourney site however, so alternates had to be picked. There were 132 in New York and around 200 in L.A. Of those, only 128 from each got into the tournament. This year, there are widespread tournament sites. There is also no quiz to filter out the people who can't tell the difference between Taunt and Torment, or something like that. Thus there will be more per qualifier.

For those coming to Seattle, I'll be wearing a smogon themed pin I plan on making, and might be carrying around my stuffed Glaceon. I'm really pumped for this...

Maybe...but it could be the opposite though. More qualifiers could mean that the people would be spread out more. Understandably, many people couldn't make it to the measly two tourneys, but some people undoubtedly drove from very far away to get there, so those people "now" wouldn't have to drive so far to get to a tournament?!?!

Thank you for confirming that there were more people last time though! ^.6

Hey just want to ask wouldnt it be a good idea to form teams after the first regional goes down on the 9th? I mean i have pokemon ready at level 50 but i want to see the strategies made to counter act them. After all im flying to nashville from NYC and at least want to have a chance winning it all or at least getting the travel package!!!

No you should hastily scrap together a team in the next three days and be sure not to take into consideration any useful knowledge you might be able to get your hands on.

I'm kidding of course, you should obviously take good strategies from Seattle into account. Why wouldn't you?
