CAAAmomons Update!
:sm/Spectrier: :sm/Dragapult:
Spectrier and Dragapult have been banned from CAAAmomons!
  • :Spectrier: Spectrier in CAAAmomons has proved unhealthy to the meta for quite some time, forcing dark types on just about every team and having a phenomonal Speed tier along with 145 Special Attack and the potential of Nasty Plot or Calm Mind combined with Sheer Force/Adaptability to steamroll unprepared teams. However, even most dark types aren't fool proof to Spectrier, as common "checks" like regenvest Dark/Poison Mew and Normal/Dark (or Fairy) Arcanine can be easily disrupted thanks to it's access to Will-O-Wisp. Fairly straightforward, this mon cleans teams with no dark or normal + dark resist while still having ways around them and

  • :Dragapult: Dragapult has many defining features in the meta; These being access to Dragon Dance, as well as an incredible Speed stat that puts it above almost all of the unboosted metagame. However, the biggest offender comes from it's ability to outpace the meta while threatening dangerous hits from its Adaptability Specs set: (252 SpA Choice Specs Adaptability Dragapult Fire Blast vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Mew: 300-354 (87.9 - 103.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock goodbye almost any offensive mon slower than pult) which can easily switch coverage from Dragon, Fire, Ghost, Electric, and Water to threaten most of the meta. Blissey and certain regenvesters by type are a good option to sponge hits from the Specs set, until Dragapult clicks U-Turn and brings in a corresponding teammate for free to punish, causing a large amount of 50/50s that tend to still favor the Dragapult user. However, as stated before, Pult has yet even more options such as Dragons Maw + Darts + Draco Meteor that can lure regenvesters and pure physical walls like Avalugg in the same set, which in conjunction with Fire can deter Steels and withstand Fairy. When put together, this makes Pult an overwhelming threat and too much for the tier.

That's Not All..!
Onto some more news...a complete overhaul of the VR and Sample Teams are soon to come! And also...CAAAmomons is looking for more council members! If you would like to be a part of the council and feel like you'd be a good addition, DM me on Smogon or Discord.

:ludicolo: New Spotlight Announcement! :ludicolo:

We're going to try to experiment with Spotlight a bit and see what the community might like; in particular:

Options for voting are going to be extended from 3 options to 4-5 options. The thought process behind this is we don't want someone to go "oh man none of these interest me" or have a situation where you feel like voting more than once would "cancel out" your votes. Obviously neither of these are magically solved by this, but I'm hoping it'll be a good QoL change at least to start.

Spotlight is being extended from roughly every two weeks to now three weeks. The original plan for this was a month, but we are hoping to use the shorter timespan to allow for more opportunity to change other things. Anyway, the reasoning behind extending this is that a lot of folks make their teams in the first week and just use those same teams the second week - the Spotlighted OMM does get exposure, but it doesn't really have a chance for actual development/adaptation. I'm hoping this will encourage folks to try out strategies beyond "oh I'll change this one move here and this mon gets this item instead..." and the like.

The last thing is a question: would you prefer the voting options to be somewhat arbitrary (as they are now), or would you be interested in having a "theme"? Say, the next Spotlight offers STAB as a component of all of them (so it might be STAAAB, Stab n Mega, STAB Ubers, etc). The idea behind this is maybe you like a certain component OM but have wanted to try mashing it together with something you haven't had the opportunity to build around. In this example, maybe you really are interested in something STAB related but you don't want to feel limited to a single option like it would be normally. Please provide your feedback!

Anyway, here are the options for the upcoming Spotlight:

- STABVerse (Inverse + STAB)
- ScaleShift (Scalemons + Tier Shift)
- NDSPAG (Nat Dex Shared Power AG)
- Godslayer (Godly Gift + STAB) (heh get it?)

Please visit the OMM Discord and vote!

I hope you all enjoyed the previous Spotlight and came up with some cool stuff!

I did say I wouldn't go on PS anymore, but when I searched my computer I found this project I was doing some months ago about TSAAA and totally forgot about it, it wasn't finished quite yet and only 80% done. I figured I should spend a little more time to complete this and use this as a parting gift. It turned out I still needed like 4 hours to complete it, but here it is. This is still subject to change as I figure this is my personal VR, but it should be fine for the most part. Tagging The Number Man so that he can add this to TSAAA resources. Warning: Extremely long first spoiler
Click on the Pokemon's name to see the sample sets. Note: The order within a tier doesn't matter.
S RANK: Reserved for the best Pokemon in TSAAA. Pokemon in this rank can do their job extremely well without any support from their team with little to no drawback. They tend to be added to multiple teams and should always be considered when building a team.
S TIER:

:Silvally-Electric: Silvally-Electric (Regenerator)
:Silvally-Steel: Silvally-Steel (Regenerator)

S- TIER:
:vileplume: Vileplume (Prankster)
:talonflame: Talonflame (Magic Guard)
:sneasel: Sneasel (Technician, Adaptability, Tough Claws, Magic Guard)

A RANK: These Pokemon are great in the metagame. They tend to have more flaws that hold them back or require support from their team compared to S rank Pokemon, but they will always prove to be good in most games.

As for sample teams, I did post a paste containing all my teams on PS (including teams from all formats). I'll post here the teams that I think have the highest quality to be used as new sample. I would like more teams from everyone to be added since I try to explore different options and avoid using the top meta threats.

...Quick question: how do you guys pronounce StAAAbmons? I pronounce it striple-ab-mons, but when it comes to names like CAAAmomons, I... don't know.

Also: I think First Blood would be kinda cool to see with Gen 7's Benjamin Butterfree, on the premise that a Pokémon devolving wouldn't count as dying.

Community-Create-A-Team

Heyo OMM! In an attempt to introduce mashups to newer players as well as guide players through the building process of these metas (they can be seemingly difficult to get into) and improve community engagement, we will be starting Community Create A Team (CCAT) room events for OMM! All you need to do is show up to the room whenever it is hosted! The room will be on a whitelist for the time, meaning anyone who wants to contribute to the CCAT will need to ask a staff member to participate. As for the current formats, we will be starting off with some of the more popular ones that will be subject to change as the project goes on:

Halted Until Further Notice:
(this is relative to gmt -7 dates, always check /events if you are unsure)

These CCAT's will start anywhere around 12PM GMT -7 OR a bit after. You can do "/events" in the OMM room to see when the next one occurs in your time.

How will this process work? First, the room will come up with a certain mon/core to build around (from staff/leaders input and community suggestions), then we will discuss a series of potential options and changes to the team that can be voted on. After the team is completed, a tour for the meta will be started to test the efficiency of the team and they will be added to the showcase of CCAT teams! The finished team will be found below this text after the CCAT is held.

:entei: SNM Announcement :blissey:

:ss/genesect:

Genesect has been restricted in STAB n Mega!

1625672161774.png

Actual reasoning:
Genesect is one of the best mons in SNM, being an excellent breaker, this shouldve been banned a long time ago but due to its low usage it went under our radar, with many sets that have excellent breaking potential and essentially having no proper counter or switchin thanks to its many sets.
Individual Council Reasoning:
WMAR:

God tier Stab and excellent coverage makes Genesect hard to prep for and essentially has no switch ins. It was under the radar since no one used it other than myself lol but doesnt make it less broken.

Fabwooloo:

Due to genesect getting access to great stabs, with its diverse movepool it can run multiple sets and doesnt have any proper switchins, making it extremely unhealthy for the metagame. Shouldve been banned a while ago but it went under the radar due to low usage.

EggsMcGee:

I assumed this was banned already because of its god tier STABs and download, as well as access to espeed and shift gear.

The sample teams will be updated to fit with the current bans, we are hoping to release more resources like a viability rankings soon.

Tagging Think The Number Man Wrk5646 to implement bans

TSNS STAAAB update. It was banned recently but Turtonator got banned. it's still not updated on the code. just reminding eggs just so he remembers to do that. also absol got unbanned in a suspect test as well. this is the old code so just wanted to remind him.

probably should add reasonings onto why turtonator was banned.

Turtonator was the best shell smasher in the tier, could take a hit, click shell smash and drop mind blowns, clanging scales, charge beams, scorching sands, even dragon darts if you wanted to go physical and outsped the entire metagame after a smash. even if mind blown was banned it would just go searing shot instead

I have noticed that this gem from last gen isn't even listed so me and some guys in the OMM room played and I have decided this needs more attention and I am taking it upon myself to "try" and give this more attention by giving its own post and love that it deserves.

WHAT IS MIX AND MEGA LC?
Have you ever wanted to play Little Cup and Mega Evolve? This is the right meta for you. This is basically if every LC Pokemon can mega evolve but obviously with some bans.

hey eggs ive made a new tsns staaab sample. this one not using escavalier or vaporeon for once lol. It focuses on making big dents in the opposing team and then switching into your fat mons. the entire team bar talonflame can at the very least get a ko or two each.

if anyone wants to help make a viability rankings list with me after the post-turtonator meta finds itself thatd be fun lol

I'm here not just for an announcement for AAA Doubles, but several!

Stored Power has been banned with Cresselia being unbanned in AAA Doubles (for now)
:ss/mew: :ss/cresselia:

As mentioned in this post before:
Stored Power
After Cresselia got banned in AAA Doubles, reactions have been mixed. One side believes Cresselia deserved to be banned but others do not think it's the case. Necrozma and Mew can be just as unforgiving when they get the chance to set up with the help of abilities such as Magic Bounce or Dauntless Shield, it's just that Cresselia's better bulk gives it more opportunity to do so. Therefore, I think Stored Power might be the biggest culprit. If Stored Power ends up banned, then I plan to free Cresselia. However, I don't think we have enough evidence for it yet, so it's all just theoretically.
Even without Cresselia, checking a Stored Power sweeper is not a simple task as it requires offensive Ghost-types such as Dragapult or Dark-types to check it, or using (Mold Breaker) Roar and Imprison Mew, I've decided that Stored Power should be banned with Cresselia being unbanned in Almost Any Ability Doubles to see if it's just as overwhelming even without Stored Power.

While Power Trip does the same thing, there aren't that many users of it with only Incineroar being viable in AAA Doubles, so that shouldn't be a concern for now. If there's any disagreement regarding it, feel free to leave your thoughts.

"the best way to beat mew is with a mew" -quote stolen from someone else

Also, AAA Doubles will have a trial with Sleep Clause on!

This idea comes from a discussion from another server. While there are some good checks to sleep such as Electric/Misty Surge, Poison Heal, or Magic Bounce, Sleep does seem to be restrictive for teambuilding as it's now possible to run No Guard Hypnosis and Prankster Spore. While I could ban Hypnosis and Sing, having Sleep Clause seems like the simplest solution to it. The AAA Doubles trial will be using a Round Robin format with Sleep Clause Mod on. After that, I will hold a public poll to decide whether to implement Sleep Clause in AAA Doubles.

STAB N MEGA ANNOUNCEMENTS
THE COUNCIL EXPANDS:

Please give a warm welcome to alaserdolphin and Ax to the council. The expansion was needed to give more viable opinions on whats problematic Pokemon and Moves, such as....

The council has unanimously restricted Sleep Powder from STAB N MEGA

This may have come as a surprise but the unhealthy presence of a 75% accurate sleep move with all grass types in the metagame with the only viable counters being Sablenite/Diancite/Absolite users and Grass types makes dealing with sleep hard. The council feels theres no reason to keep Sleep Powder around and it is now restricted because of its unhealthy presence. The other moves, such as Sing and Hypnosis aren't reliable enough to be considered unhealthy but will be under the radar incase they do.

Well double posting because I have an update on resources. I am adding 2 sample teams for mnm LC for if you want to play but have no idea on how to build

Enjoy, they will be added to the main post

New Spotlight Voting is up!
I hope you enjoyed Godslayer! As always, feel free to request it in the OMM PS room if you want to play!

Some minor scheduling changes/clarifications:

Spotlights still will last 3 weeks, but they will now have their last "official" day on that last week's Friday and will be fully transitioned to the next one come that following Monday.

This gives players a few days to still try out that cool team they've been working on, etc. - that weekend will be a period where you can exercise your creative ideas if you want to, but you don't need to feel "pressured" to build for!

If you have any questions/comments, feel free to post to the OMM discord or PM me!

:blissey: STAB N MEGA ANNOUNCEMENT :regieleki:

:ss/garchomp: :ss/kyurem: :ss/latios: :ss/latias:
Clangorous soul is now restricted from STAB n Mega

Clangorous soul has proven to be one of, if not the best set up move in the entire meta. This allowed for certain sweepers like garchomp, kyurem and the lati twins to just clean up games. What sets clangorous soul apart from other set up moves is its omni boost, which gives the benefits of both attacking, speed and defense boosts. The defense boosts are especially useful as it can help in preventing extreme speed mons like entei and regieleki from revenge killing these mons. It can also make certain matchups just set up fodder for them for example, Corviknight. Corviknight is meant to be one of the best switchins for garchomp and if its running its most common stone, venusaurite, it can even deal with kyurem but with clangorous soul its just set up fodder for the two of them. The only proper way to deal with these mons would be a prankster haze mon, like toxapex or tapu fini but toxapex loses to the earlier mentioned 4 sweepers, and tapu fini loses to kyurem due to freeze dry. Another issue is that the best abusers of this move can mitigate its drawback of the cut in HP, with most of them already getting recovery or getting recovery through stabmons (like garchomp for example). To summarize, clangorous soul acts as a way for many mons to just become essentially uncounterable sweepers which are difficult to try and 1v1 or to revenge kill, making it extremely unhealthy for the metagame and it essentially becoming a game of who can set up first.

No one seems to announced it here but, Mix and Mega LC is the winner of the spotlight!

:ss/zigzagoon:Why i am so disappointed in Altarianite/Pinsirite Zigzagoon in Mix and Mega LC.:ss/zigzagoon:

This thing just fails to OHKO like literally almost everything, and is so close to do so by 1 or 2 HP short.

196+ Atk Pixilate Zigzagoon @ Altarianite Extreme Speed vs. 36 HP / 0 Def Magikarp: 15-18 (78.9 - 94.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
Possible damage amounts: (15, 15, 15, 15, 15, 15, 15, 16, 16, 16, 16, 16, 16, 16, 16, 18)

196+ Atk Pixilate Zigzagoon @ Altarianite Extreme Speed vs. 36 HP / 0 Def Magikarp: 15-18 (78.9 - 94.7%) -- 6.3% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock
Possible damage amounts: (15, 15, 15, 15, 15, 15, 15, 16, 16, 16, 16, 16, 16, 16, 16, 18)

Not to mention, majority of mons(particularly offensive ones) have remaining EVs to be dumped on either HP or Defense, and 1 point on them are often enough to not get KOed by Espeed. On the second calc, it may seem 6.3% chance of OHKOing is fine, but that's not ok, especially in low level meta like Little Cup where there's only few possible damage output. Using the second calc again, it has 43.8% chance of dealing 15 damage, 50% chance of dealing 16, and 6.3% chance of dealing 18, it means you are more likely getting 15 or 16 for majority of the time. BTW, this is against a freaking Magikarp at base form, and Zigzagoon is still failing at OHKOing it, even other trashmons like Snom, Caterpie, and Seedot can survived a Pixilate Espeed... at base form and haven't Mega Evolved yet.

As for Mega Stone, that's another problem; majority of Mega Stone in Mix and Mega grants Defense boost. In fact, there are only 6 out of 40 Mega Stone that don't give any defense boost at all, including the Defense-lowering ones such as Mewtwonite Y and Diancite. Only 4 Mega Stone grants +10 Defense boost(+1 Def). 12 Mega Stone grants +20 Defense boost(+2 Def) and this includes the viable Altarianite, Pinsirite, Metagrossite, Manectite without Intimidate, and technically Lucarionite. The rest are +30 Defense and above. Lets take uninvested Rockruff for example, who can get OHKOed by Espeed.

196+ Atk Pixilate Zigzagoon @ Altarianite Extreme Speed vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Rockruff: 18-22 (85.7 - 104.7%) -- 43.8% chance to OHKO
Possible damage amounts: (18, 18, 19, 19, 19, 19, 19, 19, 19, 21, 21, 21, 21, 21, 21, 22)

196+ Atk Pixilate Zigzagoon @ Altarianite Extreme Speed vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Rockruff @ Metagrossite: 15-18 (71.4 - 85.7%) -- 6.3% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock and 1 layer of Spikes
Possible damage amounts: (15, 15, 15, 15, 15, 15, 15, 16, 16, 16, 16, 16, 16, 16, 16, 18)

196+ Atk Pixilate Zigzagoon @ Altarianite Extreme Speed vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Rockruff @ Banettite: 16-19 (76.1 - 90.4%) -- 6.3% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock
Possible damage amounts: (16, 16, 16, 16, 16, 16, 16, 16, 18, 18, 18, 18, 18, 18, 18, 19)

Putting Metagrossite and Mega Evolve it and Rockruff suddenly survives Espeed even after 2 rounds of Stealth Rock, even the +10 Defense from Banettite are enough to avoid a OHKO. This proves that even with minuscule Defense boost from Mega Stone are often enough to escape the OHKO range. The only thing Zigzagoon is actually OHKOing is its facing a Diancite(who's most users had like 1 Defense to begin with) and Fairy/Fly-weak depending on the stone it uses. This is what i've discovered when exploring Zigzagoon in Mix and Mega LC during pre-home Gen8 around December 2019.

should tsns staaab do a mind blown suspect? note: it does 25% unboosted from centiskorch to a uninvested volcanion. I know we were talking about it when turtonator got banned

You've Gotta Try
is a Pre-Contributor
Post-Trios tournament team dump for PokeAAAbilities, feel free to use as inspiration or as evidence against me in court.

But first I wanna talk about Alakazam in the meta.

This isn't exactly a nom post per se but the lack of Zam on the PokeAAAbilities VR is quite shocking to me. From my experience and while building it is a serious threat you should come prepared for and it stems largely from the existence of one particular set:

Alakazam @ Life Orb
Ability: Psychic Surge
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Modest / Timid Nature
- Expanding Force
- Shadow Ball
- Dazzling Gleam
- Knock Off/Teleport/Encore/Nasty Plot

The meat of this set is Terrain-boosted LO Expanding Force, which has some of the most insane damage output in the metagame. With a lot of Dark types being awkward to fit, it is quite easy to overwhelm checks through hazards and chip and run through teams. Zam's massive Special Attack and great Speed let it excel in breaking down slower mons while not fearing most opposing Priority if Psychic Terrain is up. Innate access to Magic Guard only sweetens the deal, meaning it doesn't have to worry about residual damage as it switches in and can freely utilize the power boost from Life Orb.

Very customizeable Pokemon as well, as the Ability and Expanding Force is 80% of what makes this set good. Shadow Ball is useful versus other Psychics like Reuniclus and Hatt as it can much more easily secure a 2HKO, but honestly if you're running Modest its not entirely needed as the Max HP / 4-8 SpD variants still take so much, and can even get OHKO'd if running Nasty Plot Modest LO. Dazzling Gleam is good if you want insurance versus Darks. Zam also has a sizeable utility movepool, able to use Knock Off to cripple bulkier checks, Teleport to maintain momentum against Pokemon it can't easily break through, Encore to punish some Status moves, and more.

The worst part about Alakazam is that it provides little defensive synergy to your team outside of being immune to Status damage and Hazards, neither of which help it out much in switching in. It relies a lot on pivots to ensure safe entry, and is vulnerable to faster threats and certain priority users like Triage Bulu. Focus Sash is definitely an option to give you extra outs, but the damage loss from no LO hurts, and as a result I wouldn't really want to run this if I wasn't using Nasty Plot.

Anyway here's the team I used W1. It actually won a game so it's probably good, thought a tad weak to Zeraora and opposing Koko depending on their set.

:ss/talonflame:
Talonflame @ Life Orb
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Brave Bird
- Flare Blitz
- U-turn
- Defog

Talonflame is very predictable and straightforward but not any less incredible. Both your strongest attacks are insanely spammable with high PP and zero penalty thanks to Magic Guard. U-Turn and Defog are essentially filler moves, you could very easily replace one with Toxic or even Roost and be fine. Running Defog on Talonflame meant space was freed for Corv, and as you'll see most of the team isn't bothered by hazards so I was fine putting it here if I ever needed it. Talonflame could have two moves slots and it'd still be one of the best attackers in the meta lmao

:ss/alakazam:
Alakazam @ Life Orb
Ability: Psychic Surge
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Expanding Force
- Knock Off
- Encore
- Teleport

This set relies solely on EForce for damage and fills the rest with utility moves. Encore can stop slow set-up and defensive walls in their tracks, while Teleport is great for preserving momentum against would-be counters.

:ss/tapu koko:
Tapu Koko @ Life Orb
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
- Discharge
- Dazzling Gleam
- U-turn
- Grass Knot

Koko with Magic Guard feels really unfair. It can dance around most things and has very good damage output even with an unimpressive Special Attack. I ran Modest as the extra power was very attractive since this was a Special set, and my previous two mons already provided a good amount of Speed Control. Koko can also remove your Psychic Terrain so that Talonflame doesn't lose its priority.

:ss/swampert:
Swampert @ Leftovers
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 244 HP / 252 Def / 12 SpD
Impish Nature
- Flip Turn
- Stealth Rock
- Roar
- Earthquake

Pretty insane Regen pivot. Eats hits reliably, good rocker, resists rocks as well, has respectable damage with EQ and provides plenty of slow pivots. Roar is also fantastic on this as you can rack up hazard damage or just completely screw up your opponent's positioning and momentum, which works great with your offensive teammates.

:ss/corviknight:
Corviknight @ Leftovers
Ability: Dauntless Shield
EVs: 216 HP / 60 Def / 232 SpD
Careful Nature
- Bulk Up
- Body Press
- Brave Bird
- Roost

Corv has a thousand sets but when building I usually relegate it to anti-Hazard duty and as a defensive cornerstone. With the past four members not needing Defog support and all having pivot moves, this looked like a great opportunity to use Corv as a Bulk Up cleaner. Dauntless Shield and Steel/Flying with Roost already lets it serve an important role for the team, which means this doubles as both a fantastic mixed wall and a late-game wincon. Bulk Up also helps in walling out dangerous Physical mons if needed.

:ss/golurk:
Golurk @ Assault Vest
Ability: Hustle
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Poltergeist
- High Horsepower
- Dynamic Punch
- Trick

Here's another Pokemon you could probably add somewhere lower on the VR. Hustle + No Guard is a free 1.5 power boost and Golurk's STAB combo alongside Iron Fist Dynamic Punch threatens everything in the meta, in part thanks to the 100% Confusion from Dynamic Punch. Horsepower lets you bypass lingering Grassy Terrain but you can easily run EQ. Klutz is an issue but also a chance to use Trick in creative ways, i.e. Assault Vest, letting Golurk severely cripple any super-physically bulky mons with an inability to use any status. Pretty sweet breaker that I think has a lot of potential in this meta.

Talonflame @ Life Orb
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Brave Bird
- Flare Blitz
- U-turn
- Defog

Alakazam @ Life Orb
Ability: Psychic Surge
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Expanding Force
- Knock Off
- Encore
- Teleport

Tapu Koko @ Life Orb
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
- Discharge
- Dazzling Gleam
- U-turn
- Grass Knot

Swampert @ Leftovers
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 244 HP / 252 Def / 12 SpD
Impish Nature
- Flip Turn
- Stealth Rock
- Roar
- Earthquake

Corviknight @ Leftovers
Ability: Dauntless Shield
EVs: 216 HP / 60 Def / 232 SpD

- Bulk Up
- Body Press
- Brave Bird

Golurk @ Assault Vest
Ability: Hustle
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe

Clangorous Soul and Follow Me has been restricted in STABmons Doubles with Wicked Blow not being restricted!
:ss/kommo-o: :ss/blastoise: :ss/urshifu:

I've decided to include these three moves for the council to vote on it. With the release of DLC2, Dragonite happened to be an infamous user of Clangorous Soul with its access to Oblivion Wing and Inner Focus prevent flinches from Fake Out. While Follow Me has been allowed for a long time now, I've decided it's time to take action on it as Normal-types gain access to both it and Fake Out for providing momentum to its ally and allowing a safer setup as well as Type-Null and Porygon (as examples) having good all-around bulk that's further boosted by Eviolite. Wicked Blow was one of the moves that were banned in regular STABmons, so I decided to include it in case it turned out to be too overwhelming. But in practice, there's just aren't that many good users of it in Doubles to be deemed banworthy and therefore received a 3 DNB votes. You may see the individual member reasonings on these moves below.

Wicked Blow - Do not Ban
Honestly, I don't think the abusers are not broken enough for me to warrant a ban on this.

Follow Me - Abstain
Chansey and Blissey were banned mainly due to this move. I'm unsure if other users are enough to break this move until... Regigigas was mentioned... I tried exploring other Follow Me users like Audino and Sap Sipper Azumarill. The source of it being broken was the strong support it provides to some of the offensive mon(sometimes a sweeper) and the Normals that can get it also gets a recovery move and some are Not Fully Evolve that can take advantage of Eviolite(Porygon2 and Type: Null). I'm going Abstain for now, but I can go towards Ban most likely.

Clangorous Soul - Ban
Most of those weeks deciding what to vote were from this move, and I've decided to vote towards Ban on this move. This is actually weird in my part, due to certain issues on some abuser.

I tried using Kyurem-Black and have problem choosing between Roost and Protect, as it will either have no longevity or being more vulnerable to Fake Out. Running both would also result to Kyurem-Black having mono-Ice as its only attacking move.

Then i tried Zygarde, where running mono attack is fine because STAB Tarrows alone is that good. The issue is being a physical attacker gives it two problem; it doesn't benefit from Throat Spray and it gets neutralized by Intimidate. Clangorous Soul only grants +1 Attack boost, as opposed to +2 Special Attack when combined with Throat Spray and this Attack boost can be removed by Intimidate. Despite Incineroar being weak to Tarrows, its presence alone can disrupt Zygarde's sweeping potential and forces it to used Clangorous Soul again, which loses a third of its HP upon used.

I also tried the Latis due to Stored Power, but it has same issue that Kyurem-Black had between choosing Roost or Protect, and it also needs Aura Sphere because getting hard-walled by Incineroar is not good. I found it late to realized Baton Pass is legal here, so they could used it to pass the boost to something like Tapu Fini or Thundurus.

After trying to find a proper Clangorous Soul user, i settled on using Dragonite as the abuser and found some success using it. Oblivion Wing allows it to simultaneously deal damage and heal at the same time while taking advantage of the extra boost from Throat Spray and due to 75% recovery of the move, making great use of defensive boost reliably and offsetting the 1/3 HP loss from Clangorous Soul. This fixes the issue of choosing between attack or heal, as Owing allowed it to do both in 1 turn. It is also less reliant on going for Protect against Fake Out user thanks to Inner Focus (I couldn't used Multiscale properly as it often gets broke down by Fake Out and sometimes the HP drop from Clangorous Soul. I also appreciated Inner Focus allowing it to still continue attacking and not going for Protect against Fake Out). This pokemon is the main root source behind why I think Clangorous Soul is broken, even though it is the one that effectively abuses it the most.

Wicked Blow: Do Not Ban
Honestly, I kinda regret including Wicked Blow instead of Kartana. It feels in the same position as Spectral Thief, in that it's insanely good but it just happens to lack prominent abusers (Well not exactly, but Dragapult is the only notable user of it). Incineroar would usually prefer Knock Off over it, while Weavile is a good user of it, its fragility makes it prone to being revenge killed and doesn't have a good ability, and the metagame doesn't favor Tyranitar at all. Drapion's ability makes it so it has to click Wicked Blow most of the time due to only having 90 Attack stat.

it also doesn't actually bypass protection when you're not urshifu so that stinks

Follow Me: Ban

While STABmons has more spread moves, most Pokemon will click a single target move so facing against Follow Me is bound to be annoying and enables a safer setup such as Clangorous Soul, Quiver Dance or speed control. Most Normal-type gain access to Fake Out, which allows them to be like Blastoise, so that can't be all that good. Therefore, I decided to lean towards on ban.

Clangorous Soul: Abstain

On the one hand, with Clangorous Soul gone, teambuilding would have been less restrictive, but on the other hand, I feel like it's too quick to act just yet. As Roldski said, Dragonite is the best user with Inner Focus blocking flinches from Fake Out and Oblivion Wing to recover a large chunk of HP. But Kyurem Black ended up being an underwhelming Clangorous Soul user in practice. I haven't done that much testing with Zygarde since it clicks Thousand Arrows most of the time, allowing it to have Shore Up, Clangorous Soul, and Protect, although it needs anything that can threaten Rillaboom.

I also would point out that Latias can ditch Protect for Roost since that is what Mega Latias did in SM.

Wicket blow: Do Not Ban
Idt the abusers are that broken.

Follow Me: Ban
There alot of normal types Who are able to abuse this. Giving them free redirection without any fallback in a doubles metagame is insane. It makes teams much harder to play around while the person with the follow me normal mon can just click.

Clangorous Soul: Ban
+1 in every stat, for 33% of ur hp on dragons. Just plain busted have 1 re direction mon and ur set. Its just that broken

While Follow Me has been restricted now, Chansey and Blissey will not be unbanned in STABmons Doubles as while Follow Me was indeed one of the factors leading to Chansey being banned, Transform was the biggest factor as it turns Chansey into a ridiculous win-con.

STABMONS MIX AND MEGA UPDATE:

Thank you for tuning in to our latest announcement!

Well, I should go into more detail than that. Keldeo is one of those Pokemon your mind immediately jumps to when thinking about a powerful wall breaker enabled by both STABmons and Mix and Mega. The classic wallbreaker set, Blastoisinite gives Keldeo and absurd 179 Special Attack stat, along with devastatingly powerful Mega Launcher-boosted Origin Pulses and Aura Spheres. Recently, Keldeo has started running Lucarionite as well, which grants it Adaptability (for even stronger Secret Swords) and a hefty speed boost, making Keldeo potentially more devastating than before. Keldeo's surprisingly useful movepool includes things like Calm Mind, No Retreat, Flip Turn, Vacuum Wavs, and Water Shuriken, in addition to powerful STABs in Origin Pulse, Steam Eruption, Aura Sphere, and Secret Sword. The culmination of these factors means that Keldeo can only be walled by Pokemon who resist both of its STABs. In a format where Water Absorb is absent and most Ghost-types are offensive, the pool of Pokemon that can effectively wall it has shrunken to Toxapex, Tapu Fini, and the handfull of defensive Pokemon running Audinite, Ampharosite, or Pinsirite. Teams without one of these Pokemon are forced to sacrifice something every time Keldeo comes in. The council has decided to restrict Keldeo because of its absurd power and the restrictions it places on teambuilding.

:Archen: MIX AND MEGA LC UPDATE :Archen:

Archen since the beginning has abused the removal of Defeatist with either Diancite or Lucarionite has rampaged the metagame, destroying things without priority with having such sky high attack and massive speed. Archen makes priority a necessity and there isn't many to come by. Ice Shard from Sneasel is the best bet. Just the fact that it can destroy even its checks like Onix and Corsola-G makes Archen just uncounterable with its only limit being frail. Archen can eve use its special coverage like Heat Wave to remove Ferroseed. Archen has been absurd and on the radar but its time to announce this but....

Archen is now restricted from MNM LC

Hopefully priority becomes not as important as before, although priority will be still fine, at least you won't lose if you dont bring it. This meta still has stuff to check before it becomes fully stable, so heres a watchlist

:Sneasel: Full ban
:Abra: Restrict
Diancite (this boosts the stats to way too high levels, with cut in bulk, but in LC is huge and can be too powerful)
Drought / :Heat Rock:/ :Vulpix: Full Ban

Also i have updated the post to reflect the Archen restrict and updated a sample team that had it. Thank you guys for playing in the spotlight and i hope yall can stick around

Tagging Think to update the code with the Archen restrict
