There are 8 teams this year. Each team will have have 8 players and at least 4 subs. The players are bought using the 100k credits that managers receive during the auction. Managers and co-managers will be allowed to purchase themselves as players for their team at a fixed price of 13.5k. The managers must inform the hosts (Isaiah, UT, and KaenSoul) of all self purchases before the beginning of the auction. Teams can win their matchup every week by winning 5 of the 8 matches that their players have to play.
The tier lineup this year is as follows:
  1. SV Almost Any Ability
  2. SV Balanced Hackmons
  3. SV Godly Gift
  4. SV Mix and Mega
  5. SV NFE
  6. SV STABmons
  7. SV 2v2 Doubles (Best of 5)
  8. SV Anything Goes
It is recommended to play all games on SmogTours in the most current version of the format corresponding to those listed above. Games can be played on the Pokemon Showdown main server, but run higher risk of interference from server restarts/crashes. The result between players may be decided in a best-of-one or best-of-three at the discretion of both players involved. If there is no agreement, the result will decided in a Bo1 by default.
Winning a round rewards a team with 2 points, drawing 1 point, and losing zero points. In addition, the manner in which the round has been won will also be recorded i.e. the difference between a team's wins and losses in a specific week's round (referred to as "Win Differential").
Playoffs:
Each team will play one another for seven weeks. Based on the final standings, the top 4 teams will enter a Playoffs Round to determine the teams appearing in the finals.

Tiebreaker
In the event of two teams being tied for a spot in the finals based on points and win differential, or a tie in the final round itself, we will have a tiebreaker round(s).

Tiebreaker Rules: One metagame will be picked by each manager, and each manager will also pick one metagame to strike. Additionally, each manager will submit a backup meta to strike in case their choice is the same as the opposing team's pick. The third format will be determined at random by the hosts from the remaining unpicked, unstruck metagames. In the event that the picks and strikes from each manager are the same, the hosts will determine both the second and third format at random based on the remaining options. All three metagames must be unique, so no format can be picked twice.

Substitutes
Substitutes are to be used in the case of extenuating circumstances, whether on the first day of the week, or the last. At the same time, players should be relatively well-aware of who all are available to play in the opponent's camp. If last minute substitutes are being frequently used or abused and the hosts find explanations unsatisfactory, the hosts still reserve the right to veto them. In order to further prevent this being the case teams are only granted a maximum of two substitutes per week. Any substitutions after the second will be vetoed.

Trades
The hosts have decided to not include trades this year due to reasons outlined in this thread - all roster decisions will be final, so draft carefully!

Scheduling
Scheduling should be done on Smogon Profile walls, plain and simple:
  • If there is communication on only one user's behalf, the win will go to them. Feel free to call activity in this thread beforehand
  • If there is a very healthy back and forth regarding potential times and one user is a no-show, a manager may take the opportunity to sub out the no-show competitor; if this is not done, the user that showed up responsibly will be awarded the win.
TL;DR: Post on your opponent's Smogon wall, schedule your matches, and be reliable. If you can't play for any reason, let your manager know so they can sub you out ASAP.
Use these posts as a place to initiate discussion about bo1 or bo3 as well (or bo5 vs bo7 for 2v2)!

Sportsmanship
Exhibitions of unsportsmanlike conduct with regards to the Other Metagame Premier League will be met with an infraction at the discretion of the OMPL host/OM mods. This is unlikely to include interactions within a team's private chat unless there is reason found to make an exception. This rule is meant to protect other users from being publicly flamed/bashed/provoked by another competitor for the duration of and following the tournament.
All players must complete their matches by the given deadline. Any incomplete matches by that time will be subject to an activity decision (MAKE SURE YOU POST ON YOUR OPPONENT'S WALL); otherwise, it will be a deadgame. All matches should ideally be done on your most notable alt (the one you registered for OMPL with) to avoid confusion and all match replays must be saved and posted in this thread.

Substitutions & Lineups
Managers, if you wish to make any substitutions, you must post here tagging both the player you're subbing out, the player you're subbing in, the manager and assistant manager of the opposing team, the substitute's opponent, and all of the hosts (Isaiah, UT, KaenSoul). This is to assure that everyone is in-the-loop and that the OP is updated accordingly to reflect the new match-up.
Managers, when you send in lineups, please send it in with the tier and Smogon username of each player fully written out for ease of transcription, following these guidelines exactly.

Will go slightly more depth in this final prediction on NFE as I hope both parties can take notes on each other and themself.

SV NFE - Ojr vs Clean (58:42)
Besides looking at Ojr's 6-2's record and Clean's 4-4 record, I believe that Ojr has some factors that make me want to bet on him winning over Clean but before going to compare them I would like to tell their strengths, and weakness as far I've observed.

Ojr has been extremely flexible with what he has been building, and it backs up by that he's able to pivot and play very well with them. You could say that he may overextend sometimes by picking extremely niche mons and sometimes too specific sets, but that's where Jr's strongest trait shows that he uses prep against the opponent right. He doesn't stress too hard about checking everything defensively and instead takes the direction of how he can use his advantage to win the game based on the opponent and thinking ahead. NFE right now is very encouraging to be bulletproof against everything, but it can be an absolute roadblock in the building because it may discourage people to do personal prep and ends up people being very linear. I do think Jr has done a good job of avoiding this trap, but he still has some other flaws. One of them I seem to notice is that he's very vulnerable to many different endgame scenarios such as where the opponent has a strong win-con such as Dunsparce, Girafarig, and Vigoroth type of ones. He puts an extreme amount of focus on early-game/mid-game to be the winner but I feel like there is always some sort of positions where you can get a setup and he doesn't have the strongest tools to stop it. You could point out it could be Dunsparce itself, but it did happen similarly against Leo's Vigoroth and those para's was the biggest reasons why Jr narrowly took the game. Being hyper-focused on early/mid-game makes him lack the counterplay on late-game from revenge killing or stopping the offensive stuff as an exchange as far as I see it.

Clean not only has a lot of solid builds but also makes some tweaks that punish trends which have given him great success. But those builds come to a cost where I feel like Clean's way too hyper-focused on being bulletproof that it ends up him building teams that lack fast and offensive revenge killing since he's too focused on the defense. He's also using a ton of Dartrix + Defensive Tinkatuff + Frog + Dunsparce combo. They are a difficult core to approach since the core is not only good on defensive synergy but the sets are very flexible to the point that it's hard to predict it which Clean has taken advantage of. But I feel like Clean's over-relying them to the point they struggle to find any new ideas. I am all for it "if it's broken and spammable, I don't need to change my shit" but it's still a flaw that I can't just ignore especially against Ojr. They are quite alright on early to midgame positions, but when it comes to forcing the opponent to play the late-game sweeping or given the right position for him to start setting up and sweep then I find Clean takes advantage of it in a brutal fashion. It usually ends up with the opponent at such a bad spot where it's either a close game or them having the guaranteed win path here, which I felt like vs Shaneghoul and 5dots.

Based on the info up here you could assume in the match Ojr should be more advantageous at Early-Midgame positions, and if done right Ojr should take the win. But if Ojr manages to give Clean the opening late-game, then you can definitely see Clean causing chaos and creating a really tricky endgame where both probably end up a very slow but close type of endgame where I would genuinely believe Clean will win there unless there are hax interactions that prevent him from winning. It does feel like Ojr should have a better chance to win here since his strengths can really punish Clean's weaknesses harder and the flaws are something that's possible to fix while I feel like Clean have to work a little more to address the problems I mentioned above.

Regardless of all that I said, I think the match between those two is going to be very interesting and definitely not one-sided. I personally think both of them are the strongest NFE players in this OMPL and I'm pretty happy they're in finals to face each other once again. Best wishes for a good match to both and I mean it by a lot.

Had to fill out the rest of the prediction considering this is the final here with the unfiltered thoughts and takes with no prior knowledge of the players.
SV 2v2 Doubles - Despacito87 vs Fragments - Despacito is a name that's way too cool to not bet on, sorry Fragments but I still love u m8
SV Almost Any Ability - Osake vs Pichus - I feel bad for confusing Osake with Lasen a lot of times, so out of pity I'll have to bet on him winning. Pichus was close, but Pichu as a Pokemon itself in my mind has always been kinda been mid in my eyes so gotta there are other points for me bidding on Osake to win. Go Osake!
SV Anything Goes - Polt vs Guard - Guard's a cooler name than polt no cap
SV Balanced Hackmons - Onyx Onix 7 vs Pdt - Holy Pdt's my goat, he will be cooking and winning this. Will say Onyx is someone I would bid on for so many reasons besides being a good player like my man uses Dusclops and got a badass Duskull avatar. Coolest guy I have seen in Smogon yet.
SV Godly Gift - Meta vs Dr. Phd. BJ - Dr. Phd. BJ does not simply lose in finals.
SV Mix and Mega - Clas vs Icemaster - Clas's a more knowledgeable Mix n Mega player and goes really hard on building them, but Icemaster are someone I just don't underestimate and my guts tell me Icemaster will outplay the hell outta Clas and Clas may be getting some unfortunate bad luck to finish this set. But I can see Clas sweep Icemaster if they get a good matchup, but there's always a possibility for Icemaster to snipe back though unlikely in that scenario.
SV STABmons - RoFnA vs Fc - Both got some really awesome names, but my guts tell me that Fc should nail this game in a close match. I do like how Enthusiastic RoFnA has been with STAB so perhaps RoFnA giving his all on this match will help him take this game.

I will never stop changing every lowercase into uppercase on the player's first letter. Suffer while you see my predictions >:)

SV 2v2 Doubles: Despacito87 vs Fragments frankly i dont know enough about this tier to make any sensible predicts but fragments has been looking decent this season and actually has a respectable name so rooting for him
SV Almost Any Ability: Osake vs pichus AAA is a very knowledge based tier imo/ime and frankly no amount of tnm building help can close the gap that osake's experience advantage causes
SV Anything Goes: polt vs Guard top 2 in pool vs top 7 in pool
SV Balanced Hackmons: Onyx Onix 7 vs PDT very very cool MU, frankly i think that PDT's refusal to play in TB should say a lot abt his confidence in his meta knowledge, i think onyx is gonna build some neat fat team that PDT will struggle to break thru.
SV Godly Gift: Meta vs Dr. Phd. BJ the doctor is good, meta has been disappointing this season
SV Mix and Mega: Clas vs Icemaster as we've seen in previous weeks clas is totally capable of cheesing players better than him but i don't think iceywicey would let that happen to himself
SV NFE: ojr vs clean jr is el fuego and while id always give the piloting advantage to nicholas clean cuts I've always been a big fan of jr's approach to building in this tier.
SV STABmons: RoFnA vs Fc stab is a very volatile tier so i feel like either player could load a 6-0 mu and win on preview, FC is a better player tho so rooting for him

rooting for team horse

oh shit i forgot BH reviews lol
OMPL BH REVIEW: SEMI-FINALS AND TIEBREAK

cityscapes vs Onyx Onix 7 - :heatran::kyogre::giratina::arceus::chansey::meloetta: vs :blissey::ting-lu::arceus::giratina::corviknight::koraidon:

Both teams look relatively lopsided in terms of breaking power at preview, meaning it might take a while for either player to make progress. However, city seemingly doesn't have a good Koraidon answer.

Early turns reveal that city has Pixilate Arceus-Fairy, encouraging an early Tera from Onyx with Tera Poison Blissey, drastically cutting Arceus' ability to win; Blissey also reveals Prankster Parting Shot to dodge a Heatran Gigaton. city's Giratina turns out to be a Mold Breaker set which uses Tera Dark to live a supposed hit but whiffs a Will-O-Wisp into Substitute Koraidon, which dents Giratina and toxic poisons Meloetta before having to switch out due to Perish Song. Heatran manages to clear Stealth Rock but takes a huge chunk from Earth Plate Judgment Arceus-Poison (also revealing that Heatran is Ice Scales). After some switching, Substitute Good as Gold Kyogre gets in with Light Screen up but is prevented from doing anything by Haze Giratina; an Arceus-Poison switch manages to get a Mortal Spin poison off, neutralizing it. After some more switching, V-create Arceus-Fairy picks off Corviknight and later takes Blissey out with V-create + Extreme Speed. From here, and with Arceus-Poison heavily chipped, there's no Boomburst switchins left on Onyx's side.

Onyx's main way of making progress on this team was Serene Grace Koraidon, which was an issue since it never tried to click Poison Fang on the always-free Arceus-Fairy switch. Blissey was also a potential point of failure for Arceus-Fairy with consistent low V-create rolls, although this would have to have been pretty unlikely.

quojova vs pdt - :regieleki::chansey::dondozo::corviknight::zamazenta-crowned::arceus: vs :arceus::dialga-origin::eternatus::palafin-hero::corviknight::magearna:

Both players bring wallbreakers that are reasonably likely to be walled by something on the other team; quojova' Regieleki can get shut off by Dialga-O, while Palafin-H can get shut off by Dondozo.

The game starts with both sides trading Knock Off and Stone Axe until Regieleki gets in via Imposter Magearna's Volt Switch, and it then proceeds to Volt Switch itself into Zamazenta-C. This turns out to be Tera Water Sub Gold, allowing it to completely reverse the matchup into supposed counters like Torch Song Eternatus and Sniper Palafin-H, and thanks to Tera it basically wins on the spot.

This game is largely just Tera Moment to be honest; nothing else of note really happens here.

quojova vs Icemaster - :zamazenta-crowned::dondozo::chansey::arceus::flutter mane::heatran: vs :chansey::arceus::corviknight::groudon::dialga-origin::regieleki:

Icemaster has a very strong matchup here, as nothing on quojova's team is capable of handling Tera Electric Regieleki. There's also an Arceus-Fire that has potential to harass Dondozo with Solar Beam.

An Imposter lead from quojova brings Heatran in safely, which reveals moves akin to RegenVest, and then Groudon and Prankster Dondozo trade status. Desolate Land Arceus-Fire gets in and, thanks to the poison, manages to force Dondozo to trade itself for Toxic. quojova's Arceus-Fairy gets in and immediately reveals Tera Fairy Pixilate, but switches out of Dialga-O fearing Gigaton Hammer. Imposter Heatran lets Regieleki get back in, although it doesn't Tera Electric when it could easily take a KO, instead opting to Volt Switch, which gives Icemaster a chance to Heal Bell. Fur Coat CottonPress Zamazenta-C gets in and starts boosting, with Arceus-Fire sacked to give Regieleki a chance to revenge kill it, instead connecting with quojova's Imposter. Corviknight falls to Boomburst before Arceus-Fairy switches out, again fearing Boomburst, with Imposter Heatran again getting Regieleki in to get a KO, taking Flutter Mane. Dialga-O opts to Tera Poison, but then it Parting Shots into Imposter, which takes a huge chunk and doesn't really get anything else done. Icemaster's Imposter heats up a little on Zamazenta-C, but it isn't enough, and with Groudon falling to Boomburst a few turns later there's not really a sufficient Regieleki check left. quojova makes a slight error by paralyzing Dialga-O, meaning it underspeeds Heatran's Flip Turn, but is saved from having to make a sack by terrain expiring at the right time. From here, there's no way to stop Arceus-Fairy from cleaning.

Regieleki took a KO every single time it switched in with Tera Electric Rising Voltage (only requiring a few % chip to OHKO Imposter and Heatran), so it was surprising that it wasn't the Tera target; Icemaster likely wanted the safety of Tera Poison Dialga-O against Arceus-Fairy, although even with this it's still unable to 1v1 Arceus barring a Gigaton Hammer crit.

At last, the fateful final has finally come. Through thick and thin, drphdbj erased all doubts distilled in the spectators prior to the tournament with a convincing 6-2 record leading to the final. Opposing him is Meta, who seeks to rise to the occasion and brings home the glorious trophy with the underdog Wiggly Family. Will the doctor keep the license and make Meta a patient, or will he be proven a fraud and revoked all rights to diagnose the Meta?
Lily's influence proves to be even bigger than what was expected, as Meta loads a very similar build. On the other hand, the doctor imported the medicine from renowned producers named ponchlake and possibly Sylvi. He even changes the ingredients and spices it up with Special Attack Weavile. It looks as though it will be in a position to devastate anything in its path, especially with bj's specialty of utilizing Focus Sash on such offense builds. Should Maushold get an opportunity to use Tidy Up, it too can unleash the phenomenon humanity has been experiencing. The prehistoric elephant and the string cheese might not revel with such opposition, but there still lies a hope they can capitalize on to assist fellow battlers to victory. Such a cleaning job the slithering sky lord Rayquaza has once the path is cleared. However, it shall be no easy task to overcome a proven build coupled with a Regenerator core to augment the defensive department.
A legendary battle befitting the fiery journey to the ultimate triumph, it was. BJ wasted practically no time asserting dominance with his trusty Weavile. Meta's own Great Tusk was down though not out yet. His attempt to salvage the situation with Hamurott proved to be a setback as Weavile revealed the pocket Focus Blast. While it went down to the ancient Koraidon, the incoming Great Tusk's Eject Pack allowed Maushold to safely land. This was where Meta was forced to part ways with Great Tusk, but Harcanine ensured its fall was not in vain. From this point, a series of mind-breaking predictions would enthrall the audience. Against all odds, like an animal thriving without its predator, Gholdengo damaged Glowking to the brim. It even possessed a trick up its sleeve: Endure and Salac Berry. Meta found himself being able to pivot around to minimize casualties, propelling himself closer to dethroning the doctor. The Head Smash miss ended up giving Grimmsnarl a second chance, though Meta had to be thankful Rayquaza wasn't a Dragon Dance variant of some sort even if it meant Glowking's downfall. Similar to how psychologists try to capture thoughts, the sequencing plays witnessed both competitors attempting to one-up each other. Grimmsnarl couldn't be saved anymore, but not before it set a last ditch Light Screen. When most foresaw a possible Dragon Ascent, as did Meta, a Draco Meteor behind the curtains took Harcanine out immediately. All fun comes to an end, Meta fell short while the doctor displayed his prediction superiority with his final Rayquaza double switch and sealed the deal. Despite the outcome, Meta can hold his head high with an impressive performance, it's just BJ was the better player this time. I myself find good pleasure in bearing witness to such an amazing game, this is indeed the game quality any community is thrilled to have in a grand final.
