OU CCAT: Nidoking Edition

1. Reckless Staraptor. Boosting both of its STAB moves (Double-Edge and Brave Bird) and having Close Combat for coverage and U-Turn to get out of a tight spot with momentum are all huge assets. It misses the pseudo-bulk it gets from Intimidate, but since when has he ever worried about being able to stick around?

2. Shell Smash Cloyster. I've said it before: Skill Link + Icicle Spear = bane of sub abusers everywhere, and base 70 speed isn't that horrible: After the smash, assuming you run max speed, it's capable of outrunning every unboosted mon in the game and even gets the jump on +1 base 108s--sup, Scarf Terrakion.

I'm not voting for my own Zoroark set because I'm kinda-sorta interested in using what you guys come up with, and I'm nowhere near savvy enough to use that mon effectively. Thanks for liking it enough to get it this far, though! :nerd:

Vote 1: Abomasnow (Hail abuse) / Kyurem (Substitute + 3 Attacks)
I know I chose two pokes for my vote 1, but my vote 1 goes to the idea behind them: making a hail team. I'd love to see the community come together to craft a well-made hail team.
Vote 2: Zoroark (Illusion abuse)
Tricky choice, but I really think a team built to destroy the opponents mind would be lots of fun to make XD

Pocket - Do NOT vote if you already voted before!!! The votes from before is still counted into the total points of these candidates. The points have NOT been reseted.

Well, I don't know why you did this: this is simply changing the results tbh.

You wanted me to RESET the votes? That's a waste of 65 votes done previously (including yours). All I did was eliminate the candidates that didn't have a chance (as in less than 3 out of 65 voted for them), so that prospect voters can vote on the pertinent candidates and therefore letting Smogonites make the best use out of their votes.

40 candidates was a bit too much to sift through, imo, so I narrowed it down. I couldn't do this before, b/c I could not arbitrarily remove candidates. It's not my place to judge which mon or moveset is viable - this is a Community Create-a-Team not a Pocket Create-a-Team.

Believe me that the 13 mon I eliminated didn't have a chance and were just a waste of space (handful of them had no votes...)

I don't understand the problem :/

That's a pretty subjective belief. What if four members in a row happened to vote that Pokemon as their first place set? Would that not put them back in the running?

^ That still wont be enough for the eliminated mons / mons that are still available to reach #1.

I mean, something like that is possible, but not very likely. Other candidates have a huge lead already, and they will more than likely keep on getting more votes, because well, they are popular.

I was actually pretty lenient in cutting out candidates - I could've cut more tbh - but I decided to only cut out the extreme cases, so I wouldn't worry too much about skewing the ultimate results.

I vote for these set

91.png

Cloyster @ Life Orb
Ability: Skill Link
EVs: 252 Atk / 12 SpA / 240 Spe
Nature: Naive
- Shell Smash
- Icicle Spear
- Rock Blast
- Hydro Pump

This Cloyster set is a complete Beast after a Shell Smash and with EVs given it can outspeed Choice Scarf Terrakion which could completly ruin your sweep. With Hydro Pump in the mix it can 2hko Physical Defensive Quagsire Which can be very annoying to physical HO teams, as well as take down any physical walls with ease.
401.png

Staraptor @ Life Orb
Ability: Reckless
EVs: 4 Hp / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Nature: Jolly
- Brave Bird
- Close Combat
- Double Edge
- Roost / Quick Attack

Reckless is the ability Staraptor has been waiting for, power up his to stab moves to insane levels that don't even need a boost as well as not taking that 10% life orb recoil when it uses them. Close Combat makes Staraptor stand out from crowd by giving perfect coverage and letting it smash though those steel and rock types that plague most birds. The last moveslot is for Roost which lets you heal off the recoil when you force a switch or you could just go for Quick Attack to get rid of weak and faster threats.

EDIT: Just read the post on page 9 i want Cloyster to get 2 points and Staraptor to get 1.

Okay, since we're on the 9th page - I should update:

30 hrs and 65 votes later, 17 candidates have been eliminated, because of lack of support (less than 4 pts) - here are the survivors:

OU CCAT ballot

Rejoice if the mon you nominated is still alive!

Do NOT vote if you already voted before!!! The votes from before is still counted into the total points of these candidates. The points have NOT been reseted.

For those who haven't voted yet, you may make 2 nominations - your first choice earns +2 pts while your second choice earns +1 pt.

Are these in order of what has the most points?

I say we keep the voting open until Darmanitan is in first.

Actually that won't ever happen unfortunately. By the looks of it (a quick glance) I think a Salamence set of some sort has won this pretty easily.

Truth or Dare, I won't do that b/c that would affect that way people would vote.

Truth or Dare - EDIT: Just read the post on page 9 i want Cloyster to get 2 points and Staraptor to get 1.

May you edit your post, instead, since I may accidentally count Staraptor as your choice 2 when I start counting the votes.

I'm going to close the votes by Friday night, so discussions can resume during the weekend. I may close the votes sooner, though, so please make your submissions if you haven't voted yet!!

I'm not sure if someone nominated this already, as i didnt read all of the posts, but my vote has to go for Choice Scarf Haxorus.

Haxorus @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Rivalry
EVs:4 HP/ 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Nature: Adamant / Jolly
-Outrage
-Earthquake
-Brick Break
-Dragon Claw

Of course, Mold Breaker could be slashed in over Rivalry, but in general i think the Atk boost is more valuable for wall breaking.
