IIRC, people have confirmed that Relic Song can be used in battle by using hacked Meloettas. And, based on its usage in DW OU, it's really not going to be that competitive.

You know its bad when Riolu, Sandslash and Meganium have more use than you...

Interestingly, Keldeo has the 19th spot so it seems it'll be a menace once released. The pony had more use than DW Blaziken...

... BRB, making a Pony team.

Weren't we able to have stat changes in Platinum merely because the stats are calculated on the user's end, then use the move and finally run up against the enemy's stats? Pearl and Diamond still held the information for new forms in the placeholders of the original Rotom/Shaymin/Giratina. Entirely new Pokemon would be a different story. There's no character data or form data so it's impossible.

Basically, we'll have new forms of older Pokemon and different stats for those forms but no new Pokemon this gen.

Riolu is absolutely devastating to unprepared teams and Sandslash is a Bulkier, but weaker Excadrill.

I wouldn't trust the DW OU stats much anyway. The list gets extremely random from Charizard onward because of most players just using the tier to test new things rather than treating it like an actual metagame.

If I had a dollar for every Sceptile & Zangoose I've seen in DW, I'd have...not much, about 10 dollars... They're still bad or at least out-classed Pokemon for the most part, but they got new toys. If a Pokemon got a new toy, no matter how bad it is, people are going to try it out. DW OU is sort of the default tier for "random" teams so actual competitive usage gets skewed a bit by the extremely casual players.

Oh and Keldeo is just people wanting to try out the new Pokemon before he's released. He's cute, but they are a lot of bigger threats out there. His usage will die down after he's released and all those people will test him in OU instead. He's a great Pokemon, but until things start getting banned from he tier, he's not top 20 good. Definitely top 40 though.

I don't think that something that can 2hko almost the whole OU with just it's STABs(see Terakion) , especially with rain up, is not going to be top 20... Specs Keldeo is going to tear a new asshole in the metagame, so expect specially defensive Celebi to really rise in usage.

EDIT: Holy shit forget about Sp.Defensive Celebi handling Specs Keldeo. He is 2hkoed by Hydro Pump in the rain after SR, 50% of the time!

EDIT 2: Btw i used a Modest nature for this calc accidentaly, so it is not so accurate. Actually all hope is not lost, as SpDefensive Celebi almost always avoids the 2hko after SR, taking 38% - 46%.

Who is this worm you call Keldeo?

Keldeo's not exactly in the best Speed-tier. Specs Keldeo makes a great revenge killer but if Espeon, Alakazam, Gengar, Thundurus, Starmie, Choice Scarfers, Resistant Mons with SE STAB (Flying beats Sacred Sword, Grass beat Hydro, Gyarados just laughs), etc. are waiting around the corner to revenge Keldeo, Keldeo's never going to "sweep". He's going to KO one Pokemon then be forced out like Latios but to a lesser extent. Specs is very Hit & Run. There's also Hydro Pump's sketchy accuracy but that's not too big of a factor since Specs Keldeo can just run Surf as well since he has NOTHING else for that 4th moveslot.

In most cases, a Choice-locked Keldeo just invites Dragonite, Salamence, Latios, and all of their Dragon pals to set-up on the poor pony much like CB Terrakion. Specs is good, but Keldeo needs the ability to swap moves to truly shine. Definitely his second best set though.

^I wouldn't actually compare it to Tornadus. Tornadus gets walled by the best special walls in the tier, Jirachi, Chansey and Blissey, while Keldeo can kill both with Secret Sword or even 2hko Blissey in rain with Hydro Pump after SR.
This kos are what make Keldeo so frightening as a special attacker.

Also Hydro Pump does not suck outside of rain, like Hurricane does, so Hydro Pump is much more spammable outside Rain.

Finally how Dragonite and Salamence and pretty much any dragon except Latias can set-up on Keldeo?

Specs Hydro Pump in the rain vs Dragons:

  • vs Offensive Dragonite: 67% - 79% (without SR)
  • vs Offensive Mence: 88% - 104%
  • vs Offensive 36 HP Haxorus: 97% - 114%
  • vs 4 HP Latias: 66% - 78%
So after SR, every single offensive dragon cannot set-up after you kill something. Actually almost nothing threatening can set-up on you. The few things that do, are not so threatening in the first place in general (Virizion, Latias and Toxicroak). Btw NP Celebi cannot set-up because Hydro Pump 2hkoes and you outspeed.

I have actually tried Keldeo in multiple battles, and I think that he is easily top 10 material in regular OU. They do not have many pokemon released in OU and therefore he can shine much more easily. He is a water type that can beat Ferrothorn, a fighting type that can beat Gliscor and Skarmory, and a special attacker that can beat Blissey. Although Choice Specs seems good in theorymon, it really isn't that good in practice mostly because his main STAB is Hydro Pump, an 80% accuracy move so he does not have the same effect a Terrakion who is usually spamming Close Combat, a 100% accuracy move over Stone Edge. In reality I have found that the Sub Calm Mind Keldeo to be the most effective as I am disappointed with it in rain if it does not kill at least 4 mons. With Substitute he is able to kill the aforementioned Scarfers and other faster Psychic pokemon. Rain allows for Scizor and Rotom-w to be much more easily and effectively used killing the problematic dragon types. I wouldn't count Meloetta out of the action as she is a very effective Ghost (in particular Jellicent) and Tyranitar lure which helps out Rain greatly. Shrang's set of 64 Attack, 252 Sp Attack, and 192 Speed with a Hasty nature and the moveset of Relic Song, Close Combat, Thunderbolt, and Hidden Power (Ice), holding an Expert Belt is by far the most effective Meloetta because it is such a great lure. With Tyranitar gone (along with Sandstorm) and Jellicent gone, Substitute Calm Mind Keldeo is free to sweep and do what it does best. I am more afraid that Keldeo will be banned than be ineffective because it functions similarly to the Swift Swimmers in the Rain because of its natural speed.

Thx god he doesn't get it! If it did i think it would be clearly Uber material... Most of it's checks/counters would be ohkoed/2hkoed from it, such as Celebi, Lati@s, Toxicroak, Dragonite, Roserade and some more that i may forget.

@Arcticblast: Yep, pretty much. The only way Keldeo can really even scratch Jellicent is by using HP Dark/Electric/Ghost/Grass, and even then, the defensive jellyfish can just recover the damage off, Will-O'Wisp it, and Keldeo's crippled for the duration.

Either Kyruem is actively seeking out to make itself whole again, or Ghetsis is doing it to achieve domination. Having a pissed out, godly dragon would definitely make people afraid of Ghetsis.

those covers seem to hold some untold stories, mystified within the unova region.

"quickly finishes pure white and sits patiently for the release date"

Am I the only one unimpressed by the naming of the new titles. After 5 generations of making up colours now they add the "2"?

At least, it's more original than "Grey", which everybody expected. And there aren't many other colours that are relateable to black and white (first generation - basic colours, second generation - metals and gems, third generation - gemstones, fourth generation - gemstones... but what can you add to black and white?)

And just to say it again, I'd remind people that if there is a Frontier in this game, the Battle Subway would be redundant. Still, the Subway net is a huge part of Unova regardless (they can't just ditch Anville and the Subway station, can they?).
Go to the subway station and have a look at the subway map. New places to access as the storyline progresses, perhaps?

With that, I hope they make Nimbasa City slightly less irritating. It doesn't feel like a city, it feels like a random cluster of buildings with blaring music playing. Like somebody making a "city" out of only landmarks in SimCity.
