Exactly. Sure, some of these suggested evolutions would be interesting, but we won't see them for at least 2 years, and that's if they even decide to to down that route.

Interesting that keldeo and meloetta were revealed at the same time, but right now theyre only advertising keldeo for a special distribution event. Does that mean it will be a while before we get meloetta, or will meloetta mayby be available in game in BW2? Mayby nintendo is getting super greedy ayound making it so that you can only get meloetta in BW2 but have to send it to BW1 to get ancient song, just to screw over people who wait for the second game like me >:(
I believe PokeBeach confirmed Meloetta will be distributed at the showing of the movie while Keldeo is given out for pre-ordering your ticket.

Right, because Platinum totally didn't have Pokemon with new stats.
And while I don't think new Pokemon evolutions are likely, it's not impossible. Introduce a new item/rock/whatever. Problem solved. Sure, you wouldn't be able to use it in battles against BW carts, but who cares? You have BW2.

Forme changes. Rotom was the big one, and Skymin's changes got it banned.
Improved stats, yes. New Pokemon, no. All we're getting are two new Kyurem forms, and hopefully all the hype about them isn't just that; hype. Hopefully these two new forms aren't like Rampardos and Archeops; insanely powerful but crippled in another respect (Rampardos's speed, Archeops's horrible ability).
The pony's sure gonna tear shit up, that's for sure. Two excellent STABS in Water and Fighting, Secret Sword, decent stats, and the ever-hated Taunt.
Keldeo currently does not get Secret Sword.
Secret Sword (Japanese: しんぴのつるぎ Sword of Mystery) is a damage-dealing Fighting-type move introduced in Generation V. It is the signature move of Keldeo; however, this Pokémon is only able to learn the move via tutoring when the remaining three musketeers are also in the party. EDIT: why run close combat and split your EVs when you could just use secret sword? it's a fighting type psyshock, and will probably do about the same damage as close combat since keldeo's attack is so much lower then it's special attack.
Lmfao, that made me laugh. And yes, you need Cobalion, Terrakion, and Virizion in your party along with Keldeo, and you go to the Moor of Icirrus, where Keldeo's former home was. The three Musketeers will come out of their Pokeballs one by one, then I'm assuming Keldeo will come out too. The three Pokemon then teach the youngest of the quartet Secret Sword.
From the standpoint of competitive Pokemon I can't agree that new evolutions are new Pokemon but new formes aren't.
Skymin is nothing like Shaymin as a competitive entity. It has a totally different stat distribution, typing and ability and it even looks different.

Everyone feel sorry for Meloetta who still hasn't gotten any real showcasing or sugimori artwork.
Meoletta is basically like Celebi and the others; rarely heard of, then released in some movie event thing about three years after the games come out or w/e.
All the other event legendaries have gotten their own starring role in a movie, are often either the centerpiece of the movie or its advertising, and typically have a large deal made of them.
Meloetta is in a 20 minute short, has had no hype built for it, and no real showcasing of any kind. She's also being given out as the "For everyone" movie download.
That really sucks, Oh well i guess i'm still looking forward to this game. Any hard evidence on what types the new legendaries are?
No, everyone's been speculating them to heck and back, but from what I can see, there's no evidence on what Kyurem's form types are gonna be. And I hope Meloetta isn't just a novelty Legendary. D:
So Meloetta is an Event Cresselia basically. Works for me as long as she gets released. She's still my fav Pokemon.
But at least it'll be released soon. So will Keldeo, but hopefully they'll release the two outside of Japan eventually as well. And if Meloetta could change formes with Relic Song in a competitive battle, it would be easy to just block the move with Ghosts or something. :S
