Yeah, I tried looking through the pokemon guide books with all the pokemon pictures like last month because I was reminiscing about the old days when my brother and I used to sit on the sofa and just go through every single one of them and just tell each other how awesome each of them were. Now, when I tried it...I couldn't help myself to think just how terrible some are competitively, which made me sad kinda lol.

Oh and yeah when i was in Japan and Korea, a lot of teh vgc competitive players were talking about just how terrible europeans and americans are. I feel like it's that way since most euro, americans players aren't vgc players but smogon-oriented competitive players. oh well, I'm still getting used to VGC style haha.

I wish many smogon playres will be qualified this time for teh tourny and show them :(

Yeah i know the feeling, I guess Smogon generally dominates in competitive play. Look at how were going for:

31/31/31/31/31/0 Brave

In trick room just so our guys can go first, but VGC is competitive in my eyes. Yeah it's having fun, but everyone who goes wants to win :) so I don't know why they'd be hating on us Westerners. They get all the events/games first - i wouldnt be complaining lol

EDIT: just bookedmarked that skarmbliss site - props on the site man

I'll have it covered, don't worry. ;)

Hey hey hey! I'm gonna beat you at Nationals, kthx!

That is, if you get selected. No doubt they're going to keep the entry method :(

Who knows. If they want to avoid another Philadelphia-esque incident, they'll change the entry method...or, at the very least, make it so you don't have to enter the tourney to get the Eevee.

What, no one's going to respond to my wall of text? :( I'm a sad panda...

The thing about a team like Tsuji's is that it's only really beneficial in a best of 3 environment. If we see a single elimination tournament, you don't have that first match to get a feel for your opponent

Come on Toronto/Upstate New York.

I would really love a free trip to Japan/prize money.

Edit: Don't listen to PBB, he isn't really that good. Well he's pretty good but his powers are insignificant compared to my own.

I really do think us Europeans should do better this time.

After all we've been pretty much the "Also-ran"s so far, coming largely in the bottom half of results at the worlds though not at the absolute bottom. It'd be nice to see a bit of change in there to show the Japanese and Americans that we're serious business.

I suppose you prove my noobiness, but how exactly does this team need a "feel" before it's any good? I'm guessing because moves like Taunt and Sucker Punch need excellent prediction?

Last year was a best of three? How did I miss that?

It was only best of 3 at Nationals and Worlds, so i could see how you would miss that.... Since regionals didnt have 3 rounds.
EDIT: lol at Duckster....

If I have the opportunity, I'll go. This means I need to get used to Double battles as I have no competitive experience in that area.

I had a hard time going from competitive singles to doubles, but now I'm fairly used to it. Most of your brainpower has to go towards the consideration of that second pokemon your opponent will have out, and what second pokemon you'll choose. I actually took members of my singles team and then chose partners for them, and then cross examined them so that all four of my team could be proper partners with each other.

I was able to develop strategies that could exist no matter what my pokemon combination is, and I think that is the most important factor. You must always expect the unexpected, and be prepared to deal with your opponent using only two of your pokemon at any given time.

I use my Weavile and Dusknoir as examples for everything, but whatever. My singles team lead is Weavile, and after some careful consideration, I decided that I could keep his current moveset and blend him into a TR team. Dusknoir was a perfect partner, and between them they can handle almost every goodstuffs/frequently used pokemon.

My only troubled encounter was a Porygon-z. :/

Anyway, the point is that it is hard to get into, but once you're there, everything will be instinct. It's all about synergy, predictions, and split descisions.

I hope they have a stop in nyc cause driving to philly and not getting in was not worth it. They also better change the random picking and let everyone in. Im just making a team that can handle any environment and that work well together. @feathers do you use weavile and dusknoir in vgc10 play? Im leading with Toxicroak and Mewtwo.

Hmmmm I would actually try Giratina instead of Dusknoir as he can almost always do anything Dusknoir does...but better. How would you deal with mons like Dialga and palkia with the two? well...most importantly...who are your other two I guess lol

I know there are better choices for leads, but I think Giratina-O could be amusing. Shadow Force seems a great toy for screwing with your opponent's Protects, and EQ and Explosion immunity looks great. Other than just better options, is there a reason it's been overlooked? (apologies for noobishness in advance)

I dont like Girantina-O because he cant hold an item and I would rather have a bulky pokemon setting trickroom up then a fighter that could drop. Hows Ho-oh, I havent really looked at him in vgc play.

I don't know... I personally like Giratina-O more than Giratina in competitive play, as even if you lose the ability to have an item, it has a better ability, and can actually do respectable damage.

Tsuji's team was successful at Worlds because he was able to switch it up after the first battle. I played the exact same team at my Regional and stomped all over it because he didn't have a chance to change out his Pokemon to counter what I had and brought all the wrong things.

Just wanted to post saying that Net Battle's newest version was just released, and it fixes almost all of the problems it had: Move Powers are now fixed, and the Rotom and Giratina formes were added. Now those who want to test teams out before RNGing, were waiting for shoddy 2 to be released, or don't have an AR to use Giratina-o on wifi (zog :naughty:) can use NBS to test teams out without worrying about glitches screwing you over. You can download Version 1.1.0 here: http://nbsup.50webs.com/dl.html and read more about the new version here: http://skarmbliss.com/forum/index.php?topic=136.msg725#new

Also, join the skarmbliss.com VGC netbattle server because you won't find any vgc players on the other servers. If the registry is down, advance connect using 98.148.146.203. Lastly, the server should be up a lot more frequently now that these bugs are fixed.

Looking forward to London now. Should be a good year!

yeah I reckon there will be alot more people this time round, and guessing more Europeans will be coming over too. I dont really like the lottery system, its a shame they cant just let everyone play.

Hmmm... come to think of it, i might not participate in this years VGC. 5th gen isnt to far away so buying HG/SS is pretty much a waste. 5th gen VGCs will hopefully be better. im still a little undecided though....

I have some questions:
- If it's 4 vs 4 why do people always talk about teams of 6 Pokémon?
- For how many days were the regionals held last year?
- Did they pay the hotel?
- If you use a AR to change a Pokémon nickname, is it an hack in VGC (when they check you, you now)?

^

1) It's 4 v. 4, but you have six Pokemon on the "sheet" you hand in. You can switch around your team with the other Pokemon on the sheet between rounds.
2) 1 day, some people drive and stay over night though.
3) For Regionals? Nationals? Worlds?
