and infernape can't hold a life orb either because he is too frail =P

but expert belt would seriously be better, if only to conceal the item

Infernape is a totally separate case. He often is scaring things off because he has the possibility to KO a lot of things. Because of this, he isn't getting hit and the recoil really doesn't matter to him. Along with this, he needs the LO boost to ensure he is KOing stuff. Sceptile on the other hand really isn't KOing nearly as much compared to Ape. He has the possibility of KOing stuff, but I think he is even more of a glass cannon than Ape.

But then you agree he EB would be better so this is crying about spilled milk :pirate:

''Metal Man'' Deoxys @ Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 HP / 224 Def / 32 Spe
Nature: Bold

- Iron Defence
- Recover
- Ice Beam
- Thunderbolt

Max HP Evs are nessesairy and also provide Max leftovers recovery. 32 Spe ensures he outspeeds Adamant ScarfHera.

Vs Garchomp:

Jolly Max Attack Garchomp Outrage = 51.64% - 60.86%
Adamant Max Attack Garchomp Outrage = 56.58% - 66.45%

Meaning, Deoxys will always beat Yache Chomp as long as it IDs first turn. (Provided he's at high health and no crits.)

Jolly Max Attack Life Orb Garchomp Outrage = 67.11% - 78.95%
Adamant Max Attack Life Orb Garchomp Outrage = Damage: 73.36% - 86.51%

And Deoxys deals 85.15% - 100.28% back. Meaning its always a OHKO after Rocks + Life Orb. So he will always beat Life Orb Chomp. Something only few are capable of.

36 Evs in Special Defense ensure The Metal Man is not OHKO'd by a + Nature Max SAtk Life Orb Draco Meteor.

Vs Gyarados:

The only one that stands a chance is Life Orb and CB Gyara. And using Waterfall on the switch.

Adamant Max Attack Life Orb Gyarados Waterfall = 48.03% - 56.58%
Easily beaten.
Adamant Max Attack Choice Band Gyarados Waterfall = 54.93% - 64.80%
Also beaten without max damage (with rocks). Easily beaten without rocks.

Vs Lucario:

Adamant Max Attack Life Orb Lucario +2 Extremespeed = 57.89% - 68.09%
Beaten without rocks.
Jolly Max Attack Life Orb Lucario +2 Extremespeed = 52.96% - 62.17%
Beaten even with rocks.

A Specs Shadow Ball will not ohko after rocks.

Vs Tyranitar

Adamant Max Attack Choice Band Tyranitar Pusuit vs +4 Metal Man = 20.72% - 24.34% (41.45% - 48.68% with switching out). Meaning that Pursuit is no longer a threat. But Deoxys is by no means a counter.

All these calcs do NOT take Sandstorm or Hail into account.

The tyranitar set doesn't take hail into account? thats a problem.

dude. dont be a (BAN ME PLEASE) smart ass. he said ALL THE CALCS do not take them into account. anyways, i like the set, i just have to critic it a bit.

once your opponent figures out it can only do bolt/beam, what do you do? if i was aplyying against that thing i would immediately bring out a gengar or some other special attack to scare you shitless. What pokemon on your team do you use as a counter to your counters. i.e switch in dexoys, then switch in a CB weavile.

I have been using this on Shoddy, and it usually takes out 2-3 of my opponent's pokemon because of the surprise factor. If someone has already done this, then I was not aware of it:

Bronzong@Choice Band
Levitate
Brave Nature
252 HP + 252 Att + 6 Sp Def
-Gyro Ball
-Payback
-Earthquake
-Explosion

Not the best of Bronzong's abilities, but it simply destroys Taunters and common leads. Fun to use & really pisses people off.

Calm Zapdos covers Gengar and Ape switch ins very well. And Metagross does well against Deoxys and Weavile.

Ive used this set before, it really packs a punch. Although i do use Rock Slide >Payback to hit Zapdos and Gyarados mainly.

just a thought i had after seeing subroost aerodactyl set:

Aerodactyl @ Leftovers / Focus Sash (is there an item that makes you sleep longer?)
Jolly Nature
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Spe / 4 Def
- Whirlwind
- Sleep Talk

Yeah thats it =/ The basic premise of the set is too simply switch in on something like gengar using hypnosis, pray to god you stay asleep for around 4 turns and just abuse sleep talk. Nothing in the game outspeeds you without a scarf so whirlwind will always go first.

This only works when you have Sandstorm in play, 3 layers of spikes, 2 layers of TS, and 1 layer of SR on the field. Residual damage should quickly build up and you can scout your opponent pretty easily. Plus Aerodactyl makes a nifty whirlwind user ;D

Just a mindless thought and a pure gimmick but I wanted to get others opinions on it since I cant post this anywhere else =3

edit: yeah got rid of choice scarf since it means i cant whirlwind repeatedly!!

still an awesome set to me and it seems fun so I will probably test it later n___n

got rid of choice item, forgot it did that. im still faster then everything without scarf though ;D

plus I phaze out those darn ninjasks!

Not with Sleep talk. since sleep talk has a 0 priority, WW has a 0 priority when picked by sleep talk.

I saw a crobat set like this on RS Smogon dex, it looks pretty fun.

this actually brings up a good point; I'd use Crobat over Aero just because he has more defenses and does the exact same thing. Same everything except for a bit bulkier poke.

EDIT: Also what Thunder said, great resists which I forgot about

Shaymin@hotrock/leftovers
252 HP/252 SpA/6 DF
-Solarbeam/Synthesis
-Seed Flare/Synthesis
-Hidden Power Fire
-Sunny Day

This shaymin is basically trying to abuse Sunny Day. Seed Flare > solar beam w/out sun since it doesn't take up a turn, but when SD is up Solarbeam doesn't have to worry about the accuracy, but It loses its - 2 sp.df help. Hidden Power Fire takes advantage of SD and also covers grasses and steels that its STAB can't take. Synthesis to help it set up SD better since a turn to activate it makes it vulnerable.

I'm really not sure about its EVs and anyone could try to help me make one, be my guest.

BTW this is a theorymon, I have in no way tried to work with this shaymin on shoddy or wifi.

there are pokemon that do that job better than shaymin as in moltres, or execcutor etc. shaymin is better for Choice Specs/Scarf and rest, abbusing natural cure

KD, you could try to make the set a little bulkier (to try and take advantage of awesome Sandstorm boost... I guess it'd give you a reason to use it over Crobat), and use Rest/Sleep Talk/Whirlwind/Roar to ensure your sleep and still give a pretty good chance at phazing.

I'm totally rambling. I should go to bed. =/

eh, then you have the possibility of choosing rest (which would defeat the entire purpose). Also Roar is blocked by Soundproof stuff (granted I haven't seen a Mime or Loundred ever in OU). I'd just assume keeping the set he posted. The sandstorm boost would again be the thing that makes Aero > Bat, but even that small boost isn't enough to make me want to use Aero more...

pokemon: shedinja
nick: ohmy u'll be swept of ur feet
use: late game sweeper
atks 1: swords dance
2: SHADOW SNEAK
3: shadow claw
4: x-scissor
purpose: late game sweeper , needs rapid spinner
backup

well the reason for that is that cosmic power is basically better pretty much all the time

and when you're trying to counter deoxys, you've gotta switch in, and at that point they've had enough turns for free. pulse made a peer edit for a counter deoxys functioning similarly to counterstar, and it suffices for countering them.

Hm... Trying to figure out what pokemon learns which set of moves, but after having success with a pokemon with a similar build, I've started to think about this guy:

Pokemon: Granbull
Name: CrippleKing
Nature/Ability: Impish - Intimidate
Move 1: Thunder Wave
Move 2: Reflect
Move 3: Body Slam / Earthquake / Ice Fang
Move 4: Crunch
Effort Values: 252 Hp, 252 Defense, 6 Attack
Item: Leftovers

This Granbull would be most effective as your Opening Lead poke, as it counters the Fake Out leads very effectively, namely Persian/Purugly/Hitmontop. Intimidate will make them want to switch out, so you should be able to safely use Thunder Wave on the following poke they switch out. After your opponents poke is paralyzed, you can use your rather great Attack (277 with only 6 attack EVs) and attack first with either Body Slam (assuming you bred it in Emerald) or Earthquake for Steelix/Probopass/Aggron. Crunch is there to further cripple your opponents with its 20% defense drop rate and also takes a nasty amount of HP off of the likes of Banette, Sableye, and Driftblim. As much as Close Combat would be helpful for this guy, you would have to be really stupid to use it in a defensive spread. On the Other hand, Ice Fang could be really beneficial for Altaria and various Ground-Type pokemon that resist Thunder Wave.

As much as Granbull could benefit from Light Screen, he doesn't get it =/. In its stead, he gets Reflect, which is actually a very good option (which will further instigate switches after Intimidate). This lets Granbull either A). Force a Switch and T-wave the next poke or B). Use Crunch as to wear your opponent down with possible defense drops as to force a switch or C). Both.

Thunder Wave is definitely the kicker in this set though: Most Granbulls either run the Offensive Set with Quick Feet, or the defensive set with Heal Bell + Elemental punches for coverage. Your opponent will certaintly not expect and/or like their poke to be Paralyzed and then followed by a rather nasty attack with Crunch or STAB Body Slam/EQ. Reflect is there to make sure Primape/Hitmontop/Hitmonlee switch-ins can't ruin your fun, and you can easily T-wave them and continue to counter-attack.

The EV spread could be standard to many, but when you realize what this Granbull is meant to do, you'd understand: 252 Hp Evs maximizes Granbull's HP to 384 and 252 Defense EVs is needed to maximize his very average base defense (75) to 273. Thanks to Granbull's lack of major weaknesses (only Fighting), it is pretty safe to bring Granbull in on most physical threats. Just make sure to watch out for Mixed Attackers such as Altaria, Exploud, Gastrodon, and Luxray, who all except Gastrodon are faster than Granbul.

You will be surprised how much physical attacks will do to Granbull after 1 Intimidate, and you will literally Laugh at your opponents attacks after a Reflect, which will let you set up with Thunderwave and therefore allow easy late-game sweeps with Nidoking, Swellow, or Absol. Crunch and STAB Body Slam or Earthquake ensure that Granbull is not JUST a tanker and that he can hold his own until your opponent switches to something else (where you can take advantage of). Try it out for yourself and I will Definitely come back to provide feedback after I make this guy for my UU team ;).

Opinions are gladly appreciated =)
