RMT of the Week
co-hosted by IronBullet and Snowy.

Want your team noticed by a lot of people? Do you want all the efforts you put into testing your team and writing up your RMT to count? This is where RMT of the Week comes in! The aim of this project is to give people who put effort into making quality RMTs the attention they deserve. There are a lot of teams out there that are well-built and presented, but often left in the dark. Not anymore!

Concept
  • Every week, we will nominate a few teams as candidates for the RMT of the Week.
  • These teams are put in a poll. Everyone can vote for the team they think is most deserving of the award.
  • At the end of the week, the winner will be the team that receives the most votes.
Prizes

So what's in it for the winners? Well, the winning team will be announced on social media. It will also be recorded in the Hall of Fame, which will be posted in the OP for each week, and people are encouraged to rate it. Winning the RMT of the Week also increases the chance of having your RMT added to the Team Showcase, subject to review, since it brings it to the notice of the staff. Finally, the winner will have an opportunity to give a brief interview.

RMT Requirements
  • Make sure your team is viable and effective: This one is self-explanatory. If your team doesn't fit into its tier or metagame, or lacks any kind of success, it won't have a high chance of being selected. It doesn't have to be archive worthy though, and it doesn't have to have peaked at #1; a moderately successful team can make it, but it has to work.
  • Your team should be well-presented: Wouldn't you enjoy posting in a thread more if it was visually appealing? If you put effort into presenting your team attractively, people will be more willing to rate it. We appreciate it when you take time to improve the quality of your RMTs, as it enhances the quality of the forum.
  • Be nice and receptive to people's opinions: No one likes to rate the team of a close-minded person!
For those whose teams are selected, don't ask anyone, be it friends or anyone else, on the forums or on PS! to vote for you. For friends of the people whose teams get selected, the same goes for you as well: please don't post the link in chat rooms to try and get people to vote.

The first time someone is caught cheating, their team will be disqualified and removed from the ongoing week. If someone is caught cheating for a second time, they will be permanently banned from the project.

We caught up with Week 33's winner xtra$hine to ask him some questions about his OU RMT XTRA CHIRP$:

1. To briefly describe my team, think of it as a learning tool that mimics the most purest form of HO. Essentially, by mastering this team, then one has mastered the HO play-style. This team incorporates all the key strategies to playing HO such as going into the battle with a game plan, opening holes for your win-con, and double switching to maximize offensive pressure. I feel like the reason behind this team's success is because of the simplicity of the team which allow new players to comfortably play the team without thinking too much about the in-game mechanics and more so on a competitive level. I feel like by mastering a team like this, aspiring battlers will easily learn the most of out the meta-game because of how fast the battles end when using a glass cannon team like this.

2. I've received some suggestions here and there, and I've considered testing many ideas during the OLT run to finally come up with the finished project shown on the team showcase.

3. If you got an idea go and put it out there! Be respectful to any criticism and try to reason with it before you knock out suggestions that could potentially help build your team.

Thanks for taking the time to answer these questions and congrats again!

We also caught up with Week 34's winner ClaimingRobin to ask him some questions about his RU RMT Post Tyrantrum Stress Disorder:

1. I don't find the team to be anything really special but it's effective because people tend to get overly cautious when they start to feel the pressure from it, which makes it a lot easier to get free turns, set up, etc.

2. Yes; I have yet to try all of them but the ones I have have made the team run much smoother.

3. Artwork is your friend. Use as much of it you reasonably can since it makes the whole thing look a lot more professional and a lot more appealing to the people reading it.

Thanks for taking the time to do the interview and congrats again!

Yet another interview for you guys, this time from last week's winner DnB for his NU RMT Sry, I'm Late:

1. Can you give a brief description of your team? What do you think is the reason behind its success?

Sry I'm late is an offensive team that is really hard to play on high level in my opinion, although it got better with the rates I received. If you look at it on paper, you will find many weaknesses and some people even call the team bad, but despite that all, it still worked pretty well for me and some friends on ladder and in tournament. I didn't want to create the perfect team, I wanted to build something that's fun to play and can surprise your opponent, especially the surprise factor is really important for this team to win.

2. Have you received any useful feedback for your team?

Oh yea, it just took a few days to get really good rates from some of the best NU players. Allstar suggested Miltank over Golurk which has worked pretty well so far, same goes for Blast who suggested Rotom over Mane. The NU community is my favorite one out of all tiers. The people are always helpful and up to build some fun stuff.

3. Is there any advice you'd like to give to future RMT posters?

Please, think about the layout. Back in the days, where I was still really active in the german community, I used to rate alot of RMT's, but seeing just a copy & paste of the PS import + 1 line of text per pokemon has just made me stop reading the RMT. A RMT should be something special, people put in work to improve your team, so you should also invest some time and make the team at least look good, make the viewer experience better. I'm going to a school which teaches graphic design, which certainly helped me with designing my RMT's, although I think my last RMT looked better: Eskapade.

The smogon editor makes it really easy to edit and layout your RMT, so you should use it. A good looking RMT gets more clicks and rates. You don't need a professional banner and custom art, just try to add some pictures, show the whole team at the beginning and in the end, to make it easier for viewers to look over it. Man, I could go on forever and i've just found many things I should improve with my RMT's.

Thanks for taking the time to do this man, and congrats again!
