CAP 1 Smogon's First "Create a Pokemon": Syclant Testing

Damage calculations from an earlier thread disagree.
And these are without factoring in items.
Although I will admit a Bronzong Gyro Ball isn't something Syclant would enjoy.
Seriously guys, tell me how to damage calculate for Syclant and I will make a bulky set.
And tail Glow does not make Syclant broken. Anyone who says that is speaking of theorymon, where Ant is a deciding force and can OHKO Hippowdon. Truthfully, it's nothing without a stat boost, and that boost is a bitch to get off. Try playing with it for a bit, then tell me if it can't be stopped.
Well, Stealth Rock doesn't neutre his sweeping ability.
I haven't really looked at his stats, but I want to try this set

We had a big day on the playtesting server! In total over 170 users have registered accounts and over 80 battles were fought today. Traffic was the highest it's been.
There is a lot of interest in this thing, and it's coming from everywhere. I've added a link to the connection post in the Welcome Window to the server. Lots of people are coming by that aren't on Smogon. Some people sent me links to other boards where they are talking about our new pokemon. It's a little surprising that so many people would show up to see it. But, I think it's great.

I've tested him, hes a very capable pokemon with a solid niche. He is far from broken though.

with mountaineer (so he doesnt take damage from switching) could syclant use a type combo with another pokemon? could heatran cover him?
In the sense that Syclant draws Fire attacks yes, but in most other respects no. Even with a Ground resist Syclant isn't going to enjoy switching into many Earthquakes, and it's only neutral to fighting.
Seriously, people, I know it's a new Pokemon and all but look at a type chart, its terrible defensive stats, and use some common sense.

i have found heatran works very well with syclant, simply as heatran gets some bosts, and it makes your oponent wary of useing fire to stop 'ant.
Based on battles conducted so far, a lot of people are running Heatran on their Syclant teams. I think KoA has been experimenting with different Heatrans to support Syclant and vice versa. I may be wrong, but I recall him chatting about it on the server the other day.
After we get some more battles under our belt, I'll write a few reports to scan the logs and report some usage patterns of Syclant and teams with Syclant. I'm a statistics junkie, so I find that sort of thing interesting.

Great work on the server, it looks awesome. One thing is, I don't know if it's just my computer being weird, but it doesn't seem like Syclant learns U-turn on Shoddy, even though it's in his movelist on the first page - so if that's not just me missing something then I think thats a mistake.
U-Turn was definatly there last time I checked...
Syclant - Three vs Three?
As some of you may or may not know, 3v3 is my favorite battle format. I also used to play a lot of doubles, but I've been playing lots of 3v3 since DP came out. Before getting involved with the Create-A-Pokemon project, most of my "expert" contribution to Smogon was in the various Battle Tower threads, singles in particular. If any of you frequent those threads, you might have seen some of my detailed battle analyses and advice on getting really long BT streaks. I've got one of Smogon's all-time best streaks in BT singles <sticks out chest>, using a fantastic 3v3 team created by Jumpman16, that isn't predicated on pure AI abuse. So basically, I'm saying I love 3v3 and I think I'm pretty damn good at it.
Anyway... I have mentioned that I think Syclant is not as dominant as we thought it would be. Last night, I was wondering if Syclant is not that good, or if my 6v6 battle skills are such that I'm just not able to make it work properly. Then I started thinking about 3v3, where I think I'm quite competant. And it hit me -- Syclant would be a damn good 3v3 poke.
If any of you play 3v3 seriously, you know that coverage (offense and/or defense), speed, and power are the keys to consistently winning teams. It's the same in 6v6, but it's just a lot harder to do when you only have three pokemon to work with. Therefore, each pokemon has to be incredibly versatile. Don't get me wrong, there are some "One-trick ponies" and theme teams in 3v3, but in my experience, versatility is the key to winning more than you lose.
In looking at Syclant -- it's a great fit for 3v3. Since Stealth Rock is not a problem in 3v3, Syclant could run CompoundEyes and hit like a truck with those high-power, low-accuracy moves. Syclant's movepool is freakishly diverse, so it has amazing offensive coverage. Glass cannons are not normally great at 3v3, but a few of the ones with good movepools do pretty good. Azelf and Infernape come to mind.
I know Smogon is primarily focused on 6v6, so I don't expect a lot of discussion on Syclant's applicability to 3v3. But, I thought I'd point it out, in case there are other 3v3 fans out there.

I checked the code I used to create Syclant, and U-Turn isn't there. That means it has never been on the move list in the team builder. I guess I got the move list from an old source. I'll add U-Turn later. But I'll have to bring down the server, so be prepared. I'm surprised no one else has noticed up to now. Thanks for pointing it out. If somebody could run an audit of the movesets, I'd appreciate it.
