The Everything NFL Thread - 2009

Did anybody else see the part in the Giants-Redskins game where a Giant (I don't know who) ripped off a Redskin's helmet and began trying to beat him up?

I saw it. I saw the helmet come off, but I want to know what that black piece of debris was that flew off to the left right after the helmet was off.

Also if the panthers suck it up this season, look for the Saints to win the division and be a sleeper for the playoffs. They just gotta not turn the ball over so much. Letting the Lions score 27 pts against you is pretty bad -_-

McNabb would be better off sitting until after the bye than trying to play immediately, although my fantasy teams sure would appreciate his effort. Westbrook has seen cracked ribs too but I suppose it's easier to cut back time for an RB than it is a QB.

JOKE DELOLMME ahahahahahaha

I love that Cutler threw 4 picks in his debut with the Bears. I hope now the Bears are realizing they gave up a first round and 2 third round picks for a piece of shit QB who is barely better than what they had before.

Giants owned Redskins, 23-17. Great news for me that Eagles fans are disappointed due to Donovan McNabb with cracked ribs. I'm glad that's he's ok, but hopefully he won't play through the season. Haven't heard any news of Patriots, but it looks like they're playing the Buffalo Bills. Hope they lose. Unfortunately, GB Packers won. >.> Little pissed about that, but if they win by that score, then they're surely lose badly come November and beyond.

I predicted the Saints to win the division this year regardless of how the Panthers played. The Defense looked good, albeit against a rookie QB on the Detroit Kittens, but they'll be a pressure defense all year.

As a Panthers fan though, I'm pretty close to hitting the panic button right now. All I can say is we're giving Jake one more freaking chance. I can no longer defend him - Any other QB would lose his job after giving up 11(!!!!!) Turnovers in 7 quarters. This is inexcusable, he has to bounce back.

And he will. 3 TDs vs The Dirty Birds next week, calling it.

I'm not so sure about that. The NO defense has definitely improved from last year, but they let get Detroit, a team who has lost the last 18 games in a row, get 27 points on them. That is just unacceptable, even for a team of their caliber. You can argue that the Lions did more explosive things offensively and took a helluva lot more risks since they were down so many points, but honestly, New Orleans needs to take a step back and do some serious reconfiguring. If this was against Dallas or New England, they would have gotten walked over, regardless of how many TDs Brees threw up.

Falcons will easily destroy the panthers lol. The panthers are probably shaken after being pummeled... a lot of stress about who the QB is. The Falcons on the other hand, are heading in the right direction. Just about shutting out the wildcat offense of the Dolphins is not an easy task. Especially with all of their weapons. The Panthers have proven that they can't win big games... so yeah. Its in ATL where... the falcons come alive. 28-14 victory for the falcons.

Fucking Patriots always find a way to win. Fuck them.
Fucking Bills always find a way to lose. Fuck them.

Well most of those points were long FGs and a Fumble Return for a TD. Kevin Smith had a TD and Stafford had a rushing TD. Honestly they cant complain, trust me the Saints D will only get better from here on out.

EDIT:
Shoryuken!

Actually those 2 bullshit roughing the passer calls almost cost the Patriots the game. Why doesn't Trent Edwards wear some fucking flags FFS.

Eh, you can cite stupid penalties all you want, but if that Bills returner had not run the ball out and fumbled, the Pats would not have won so easily. Even if the Pats had forced the Bills to punt, Brady would likely have had only about 30 seconds left and a much longer field to cover for a win. DM isn't here yet...he must have committed suicide after the Bills game. R.I.P. DM!

EDIT: Ugh, is anyone else getting sick of everyone being all over Tom Brady's jock? Ok he was injured last season and he did well in his first game back. Doesn't mean the Patriots are gonna win the fuckin Super Bowl...

I am. Common talk at my school.

Person: PATRIOTS GOIN TO THE SUPERBOWL
Me: No they aren't.
Person: TOM BRADY IS BACK. THEY BEAT THE BILLS LAST NIGHT.
Me: Because of a stupid play by the Bills.
Person: TOM BRADY BE BALLIN.

--- i leave lol

Seconded

Also, it was fun how both games came down to last second wins, with the Chargers barely pulling ahead of the Raiders and *unmentionable name* against the Bills. Really, I thought both Raiders and Bills had it until their opponents dug down into their bag of tricks and won. Well then again, you knew the Raiders would screw up somewhere; for the Bills, the bastards (Patriots) got lucky, that's it.

Eagles signed Jeff Garcia

I'm so excited to have an actual back up quarterback now! I think we should dump Kolb because he is honestly worse than John Beck.

The Raiders have a pretty decent run game. I was actually surprised they almost beat the Chargers; Philip Rivers has sooo many weapons on offense.

There's one team in my mind that shows a lot of promise this year: the Falcons. Roddy White, Micheal Turner, Matt Ryan, and a good young defense. Playoff run for sure.

Yeah, I was thinking they and the Saints would be in a close competition for that division. The Bucs lost game 1, but I watched part of it and they didn't look too bad. If their defense can get used to the new scheme and stop giving up big plays, Leftwich and the offense have the potential to put up good numbers. Now that I think about it, I see this being a very competitive division this year, cept the Panthers (lol)

I can't wait til the Jets play the Pats this week. I hope they destroy them!

PS - Is it just me, or was this a bad week for RBs? Only 5 RBs in the whole league rushed for over 100 yards this past week. Only two others even came close.

Peterson seems to never have a bad week.

The Detroit Lions would like to have a word with you.

Week 6 vs DET

I do believe he only rushed for 12 yards that game. At home. Against one the worst defenses in NFL history.

EDIT:

Oops nvm it was the Saints

21 Carries, 32 Yards. No TDs

And then his rookie year against the 49ers

14 carries, 3 yards no TDs. And that was after his ridiculous 296 yards, 3 TD game

but other than that, he's been A-Ok, I'm glad I have him on my fantasy team

The Bucs offense is finally decent. We put up over 400 yards of offense on the Cowboys, which is pretty darn good. And we didn't commit any turnovers as well, also good.

The defense didn't look that horrible as well, although the big play is where they were burned and the defensive line couldn't get pressure. 3 plays over 40 yards, all 3 of them touchdowns from the Cowboys. Luckily, it was only the first game and they were predicted to lose.

The team has a lot of potential.

I haven't seen anything great about the Redskins this season and preseason, sure they beat the Super Bowl winning Steelers, but Jason Campbell always fumbles the football, other than that I think of him as a good QB. Redskins > Rams?
