The Everything NFL Thread - 2009

Because the Pats are a local team (remember ESPN is located in New England) and they're an elite franchise who generally produces interesting stories.

And if you don't like it don't watch ESPN.

Bucs vs Redskins - lol
Ravens vs Patriots - Literally my two most hated teams in the NFL. Why can't they both lose?
Lions vs Bears - My upset pick for the week.
Titans vs Jaguars - lol @ del Rio cancelling Garrard's radio show
Raiders vs Texans - someone assassinate Al Davis. Please.
Bengals vs Cleveland - Not sure why Cleveland thinks they'll do any better with DA over BQ
Seahawks vs Colts - This will actually be closer than we expect. Clots will pull it out though
Giants vs Chiefs - [Both Giants RBs go over 100 yards here]
Bills vs Dolphins - Fredshawn > Rickronnie
Jets vs Saints - Brees, Colston, and Bush are on my fantasy team, so I need this =P
Rams vs 49ers - Even without Gore, Singletary is a beast
Cowboys vs Broncos - As much as I hate the Cryboys, the Broncos are way overrated
Chargers vs Steelers - Come on, would I ever NOT pick the Steelers?

bleh, 4-3 after the first set of games, with the Bills looking to make me 4-4. Then again, the Saints and Norty-Finers seem to be handling things so I guess this will end up an average week.

Biggest load of fucking bullshit I've ever seen...Clayton is such a useless piece of shit even I could have caught that -__-. Not to mention thr fucking poor officiating when McGahee MADE it at 4 and 1 at a crucial stage of the game. Seriously I hate the Pats.

cheatriots (kidding)

meh, i dont blame clayton (and i certainly dont blame the pats, they played well), i blame the officials for putting us into those ridiculous situations with so many bad calls.

ah well, we had to lose eventually and i rather it be now.

Its still not as bad as when the Refs stopped the play after Ray Lewis and comp. stopped the Pats on a crucial 4th and 1. Made worse considering they stopped the play because AN ASSISTANT COACH CALLED A TIMEOUT. ASSISTANT COACHES ARE NOT ALLOWED TO CALL TIMEOUTS. That would have made the pats 13-1 I believe. The Giants exacted Karma's will though, so its all good.

Another Sunday, another game the Ravens lose to the refs. Patriots never made the first down on that fake punt, McGahee made that first down or at the very least came MUCH closer than the official who put the ball close to 1 yard away from 1st down. Anyone else find it hilarious that Pats fans want a 25k-100k fine for Suggs tripping and brushing by Brady's knees? What a joke.

Whatever, this happened last year with both Steelers games and the Titans game. If Clayton learns how to catch the ball, it all means nothing anyway.

Loved how Flacco looked driving down the field, but seriously, why did we not give Ray Rice the ball more. He was going off and for whatever reason we didn't stick with him. Flacco should definitely not be throwing 47 times when you have Rice and McGahee.

Hopefully we'll get back on track with a Bengals home win and can redeem ourselves at Minnesota.

I have the utmost respect for the Ravens, but you can only blame so much of that on the refs. Clayton is a damn good receiver, and he needs to catch that ball. Had he caught it the Ravens would have had what, first and goal from the three? They could have won that game despite all the "roughing the Brady" bullshit (which it is).

HATE the Patriots now. It never ceases to amaze me how they can steal games although in this case it was Claytons fault (that ball was perfectly thrown and he was open). Gosh its like EVERY game ends something like "Patriots score with 5 minutes left. XXX Drives down the field and scores with 2 minutes remaining. Tom Brady drives the length of the field to get the game winning field goal/touchdown" When will teams learn to waste more time :(

Ive hated them for years =/ never liked brady, he's overrated, hes good, but hes just so dang lucky, and i agree with your above statement
but, hehe i actually wanted pats to win because ravens are leading steelers division, and we cant have that, can we? :)

Ugh, I can't believe the Steelers let the Chargers even get that close. Granted, one of those TDs was bullshit because the referees didn't blow the play dead after the runner stopped forward progress, but they still botched special teams plays and let the Chargers put up 21 points on them in like 5 minutes. I sure hope Polamalu coming back will light a fire under this defense's ass, because they are not getting their shit done late in games. At all.

why the fuck did you retards pick the Bills to win

they're the fucking BILLS

hmm Cowboys are looking average again this year. They are staying competitive in all their games thus far at least, need to get that offense (Romo) running. Romo is hurting his team, literally and figuratively, by messing up and poor judgment. Like that one pass he threw to Williams that was too high and when he went up to get it, got hammered and pretty much took him out of the game. And throwing to where Bailey was twice was dumb at the end of the game. I take my hat off to Denver, they got some D and Orton didnt play all that terrible either.

Everyone said:
Patriot hate
Love it.

I didn't get to see that game :(
But I don't think it could have been worse than the debacle that was the Ravens vs. Pats in 2007 (Perfect Season). How in god's name we won that one is beyond me.

I hope I can find it online or something, because I love Brady's patented "Late game touchdown marches". He does them so consistently its ridiculous.

Actually, wow I just saw that Clayton pass. Damn. That sucks, he had so much time. Oh well.

because chad henne was making his first career start and we all figured the bills were smart enough to stack up on the damn run and realize that almost 100% of the plays out of the wildcat formation are runs

we were wrong

lol roughing the brady

i love what ray lewis said after the game

steelers defense sucks in the fourth quarter

rashard mendenhall is damn tasty but the chargers run d sucks, let's see if we can open up those kinds of holes against better teams

Imagine if the Chargers could play like they did in the 4th quarter all game...

Although the Steelers 4th quarter D kinda sucks you can't completely discredit the chargers. The Charger's D sucked in all 4 quarters and they still had a chance to come back lol.

If you want to see your hero Brady at his best, try and find footage of him intimidating officials into getting calls. You guys are a good team but how you consistently have the officials on your side every match is downright puzzling.

steelers defense sucks in the fourth quarter

yeah maybe in weeks 1-3 but every is blowing this chargers game out of proportion, they had less yards in the 4th quarter running a no-huddle against a no-polamalu steeler d than the steelers offense did (117 to 112). in total the chargers had 251 to the steelers' 497 which "could have been 500" cause we took a knee. when you can put up 500 yards on a team and hold them to 250 you don't really get worried by fluke "forward-progress" fumbles or surprise onside kicks that give them a random glimmer of hope

so anyone who thought the chargers had a legitimate chance to come back forgot that we had owned their defense literally all game and that they would actually have to stop us at some point which they never did

Another bad team exposes the Steelers defense, lovely.

Because the refs were the reason Clayton dropped the pass.

Because the refs were the reason Clayton dropped the pass.

That isn't what he was saying. He was pointing out the poor officiating in the game that helped New England remain in, and eventually win the game. Yes, Clayton should have caught that pass but that alone isn't the reason the Ravens lost the game.
