AS for the tootoo hit, that was a headshot from what I saw, now "shoulder to shoulder" as the announcers asserted

The hit was very clearly below the head area and he says it was "shoulder to shoulder" during a replay that pretty much should convince everyone of that. I'm not sure why you think this was a head shot.

watch it again, the first thing to move on the target player is the helmet and you can clearly see Tootoo's shoulder lifting at the last second.

If anything, he hit him cleanly across the chest AND head. Frolik was much lower than Tootoo by leaning forward and he still got mostly chest. Frolik was in more danger of a head injury by hitting the boards or ice on the way down, not from the hit itself. I have no problem with it.

Sabres blow/get robbed out of another one by the refs. It's pretty easy to get a 2 on 1 when you TRIP OUR DEFENSEMAN WITHOUT PENALTY. I haven't screamed at the TV like that during a game in a LONG time.

Woo HOO!!! Chris Osgood gets win #400 in an epic game against the Avs- You could here cheers of OZZIE!!! OZZIE!!! in the background, lol.

Derek Roy out for the year.... Goodbye playoffs! Like the Sabes would make it anyway

In a nutshell, yeah. Every time they win they look like they are turning the corner and regaining last year's form, then the next game the suck ass again. So disappointing.

who else would he possibly have been referring to

Also nationalism aside Vin, at least the team is winning, for the most part. Wisniewski will help out pretty significantly and they were right on the edge of taking the division back to begin with... hard to argue with winning I think.

Well 'winning', 3-10 in last 10 and 8th place. Carolina has 3 games in hand in 9th, not that far behind.

Its not really this move that pisses me off but the overall effort and I can easily root against this team regardless of record anyway.

It isn't baseball or soccer, everyone plays hockey here and our only pro team isn't making a great effort at reflecting that while it has in the past. If I'm a kid playing minor hockey, I don't get the impression I could make the NHL if I dont see people from my parts on tv, if I cant even get autographs from players in my own language. An approachable 4th liner is a better ambassador than a 1st liner that isnt.

Wisniewski was an excellent move though, what are the Islanders doing?

They finally started to show some signs of life in the last ten games, too. Strange time to make that move.

7-6 in a shootout. Counting the SO goals, there were 17 pucks in the net tonight. Just insane.

Speaking of fucking strange moves, the Isles just traded Roloson to the Bolts for some no-name defenseman. Somehow trading our only good goalie seems like a bad idea. Between the long contract for a shitty player and the trading good players for nothing, I'm starting to see shades of Milbury in Snow...

Yeah, if I remember correctly Rolie's contract is about to expire, so it's not a bad move at all. Well, I mean, the towel obviously has been tossed in on this season, but no reason not to move for the future.

Yeah, that would be awesome, but the only problem is NBC probably not wanting it to cut into their New Year's day primetime programming. I think they'll keep it in the afternoon, weather permitting.

I'm not so sure that'll be an issue actually - they didn't try to compete with bowls this year as it was(they were just planning on showing re-runs of their weeknight shows anyway), partially in case the game had to be moved to the evening, so I mean they don't lose anything over what they did if they leave it at night... if anything I think it's a more competitive timeslot for them since there's less bowl competition on Jan 1 evenings. Outside of the tail end of the Rose Bowl there wasn't quite as much competition as last year during the game... might be both cooler and a better ratings move.

Flames on a tear without Sutter. Jokinen silently doing great things, Tanguays shooting the puck! What the fuck is happening...

I think it was a salary dump, WER, recognizing that Roloson is almost done for. They are clearly looking to the future, perhaps hoping to get the first overall pick. It may also have been a locker room move or a scouting move, someone in the scouting of the Isles had a boner for the defenseman or something.
