I can totally see Liverpool beating Inter in UCL. Believe it or not, Liverpool is an entirely different in team in the Champions' League. They have the best Team Chemistry you can hope for, and Torres/Gerrard are pretty good. Inter's undoubtedly good, but their UCL run has never been extraordinary.

About Celtic/Barcelona, I can see Celtic not conceding anything. They have an amazing home form.
Lyon might not have a lot of quality, but they work together very well. It will be a very close game, and I think Man U will edge it.

Schalke 04 is going to win because of their form and home advantage. FC Porto will need to work very hard to match them.

Roma will depend on Pizzaro a lot. But Real Madrid have much more quality in their team with Robinho, van Nistellroy in their strong starting line-up. It will be a close game, but I *think* Real Madrid will win it.

I find AC Milan's team just okay at best. Kaka and Inzaghi are in TERRIBLE form and I just cannot see them winning because AC Milan depends on them a lot (and Gillardino). Arsenal is doing amazingly in the EPL, with Adebayor scoring in almost every match. Toure is also in top form, and tbh, Arsenal is a better and an in-form team. Arsenal's winning.

I have never seen any games of Sevilla, so I can't really suggest who is winning.

And for Chelsea vs Olympiacos, Chelsea. They have a better quality really.

lol it's only the LEAGUE CUP which nobody gives a shit about, Man Utd went out to Coventry in playing like Keiran Lee and shit...and Arsenal play their youth team too.

Chelsea will probably win, 1-0 with a fluke (Lampard 17 deflections goal)

African cup amazing Final Camerun vs Egipt, place ur bets, also what do u think about the Mexico vs USA match? and the first victory with capello of the english team

So plans are finally in the works for the creation of a 39th league game which will be played overseas, in the likes of Sydney, Florida and Dubai.

This to me is a move motivated purely by greed to the detriment of fans nationwide. Unsuprisingly club chairmans agreed unanimously that this was a good idea, mainly because the games were projected to bring in another £5mil for them.
There is also the case that now there are 39 games each team plays one other team 3 times but all the others twice. This could fundamentally change your season if you're a club fighting for your survival and you end up playing arsenal or man utd three times and your relegation rivals are playing fulham/

I won't deny that the Premiership is becoming more and more of a business but this is one cheque to far.
What are other people's thoughts on this?

I, personally, think it's a terrible idea (at least the way they are going about it). The only way I see it becoming useful is that the clubs facing relegation to the Championship will get a guarenteed 5 million pounds from this one match.

It would be a lot better if they decided to do it as a pre-season kind of thing, or at least made plans for it to come around at a better time of the season. The idea to have the games in January is just wrong. They want every premiership team to fly thousands of miles around the world to play one league game after the busy new year period in which every team plays at least 3 games in a week, add in the couple of FA Cup games that come in early January, plus if premiership teams make it to the semi-finals of the Carling Cup you then have both legs of that semi-final in January.

So they really want every Premiership team to play around-about 7-10 matches from just before Christmas until late January. Doesn't really sound like they have thought about the football aspect of this, and have only given thought to how much money can be made off of this.

This 39th game could be the difference between the team I support winning the league or finishing second, or could save one team from relegation while another is condemned to relegation.

Sheffield United complained about West Ham's survival because they had Carlos Tevez on their team. That would be nothing compared to the complaining if a team were to be relegated due to this money spinner.

To sum that all up; leave the '39th' game until pre-season and make it so it has no bearing on the league at all. Clubs make their money, fans in other countries get to see premiership teams play each other, english fans are happy that their league positions' aren't under threat.

Sounds like a lot of work for the players, is that nobody thinks about them?, home league, home cup, possibly Europe cups and now this?. I believe is too much effort for a man to play all these games, and even worst to hop into a plane to play pointless games, no roster is as big and good to win or attempt to win all that.

I am looking forward to the Manchester Darby at 1:00. They're holding a memorial for the Munich Air Tragedy, with it being a 50 year anniversary since the plane crashed killing 23 people out of 44. A 1 minute silence will occur just before kick-off. Though, there was speculation about fans disrupting the silence (as you always get idiots in a crowd), so they were thinking of having a minute's applause, but with it being a Manchester Darby there's hope that they can just continue with the silence.

I can't wait for the game itself. It is today that we see of ManCity so they cannot brag a possible double over the champions in a season!

I would seriously stop watching the Premier League if it went to somewhere like the US, with a bunch of cheerleaders and commentators yapping on about "goaltenders" or "deeeeeeeefensive midfield backers".

Why does this need to count towards the PL anyway, for example Liverpool played Pompey pre-season in the Asia Cup, the only difference would be more money from sponsorship which only benefits the smaller clubs in any noticeable way.

I personally think that that sucks, it will hurt the leagues of other countries and will make the Premier league even more shallow and lets face it, money its all that they care.

olo I am just a liverpool wool from london, I like seeing QPR do well too though (they are a championship/division 1 side) as they are local. Going to liverpool/barnsley tomorrow at Anfield =]

Attn Taylor: First, it is DERBY. Not darby (although it is pronounced that way). And although I thought the silence would be disrupted by at least one person, it didn't come, well in city fans!

We have fucked up in the league again this season (bloody hell started out hunting for 1st, now hunting for 4th!), and the players not performing as well as they should has been blamed on rafa the fucking yank twats. There is no reason we can't win the FA cup and CL tho - another final versus AC would be nice ;l

That's the way you spell Derby City, iirc. However, the word to have a local Darby was spelt Darby, but w/e.

Either way, there were still fireworks being set off halfway through due to fans not being able to get tickets.

Let's see what we can do to Arsenal in the FA Cup this weekend, should be good. unfortunatly for them, they have AC Milan mid-week, so it will be interesting to see their team line-up for this FA Cup draw.

just got back, we lost 2-1 to a championship side fucking hell (at home no less). Well in to their fans who kept singing 90 minutes (everton, everton, everton chant pissed me off though lol). Rafa took off imo our best player during that match (babel) for fucking harry kewell who did jack shit. Was quite depressed for a while afer the match. If we don't win CL, what a bad season this will be, and even then Rafa's position as boss is shaky imo. come on lads =[

Watched Arsenal vs Man U, and this is the first time i've watched Arsenal lose and not been pissed off. I was laughing through the whole match because I have never seen any football team play so bad, let alone an Arsenal side.

I enjoyed Eboue's sending off. I thought it was a pretty good karate kick. He does it so much that he seems to have the technique down. On a serious note, Traore and Hoyte shouldn't be allowed to play for Arsenal again. Teams in the league I play in have better defenders than those two, at least based on their last two shocking performances.

AC Milan are a better team than Man U so wednesday will be fun to watch.

Also dynamo did you really expect Liverpool to win? After watching Luton and even Havant & Waterlooville embarass you, it was pretty obvious that a defeat to lower league opposition was coming sooner or later.

AC Milan are pretty shit at the moment man, no where near Utd's standard. They must be 4th or something in Serie A, and rely heavily on Kaka and Seedorf.

I think Utd played within themselves and we really should have taken the chance to win by 6,7 goals and set down a marker as we had a shitload of chances, especially Rooney who seemed to go into 4-0 on pro evo mode.

Carrick was brilliant, Fletcher was too and Nani was probably MOM.

Also: haha Liverpool!

I watched Man Utd. Vs. Arsenal (Manchester United fan).

I can't tell you how happy I am to see a match and a team that let us play a free game. Thanks for making people like Fletcher and Park look good (When they suck!) Arsenal.

I am also confident that Rafa Benitez will be fired after Liverpool crashed to Barnsley, a League 1 side, at home 2-1.

It's a shame that the FA cup's nothing compared to the Champions League, something I'm looking forward to this week.

Rafa isn't out yet - he has one more chance - a champions league win. But if we play this way against fucking barnsley I doubt we'll pull it off... then again, we all doubted our win against AC Milan at half time, 3-0 down. Am seriously confused at annoyed at rafa, but let's judge him at the end of the season. Torres and hopefully our new slovakian defender who I can't spell for shit back for Inter, let's win this fucking competition.

yes 0ma I did - I don't care about previous performances, when you put the team names on a sheet and compare them, our reserves are better than them. Bloody hell, our reserves at #1 in the reserves league iirc, we might as well play them.

AC Milan are pretty shit at the moment man, no where near Utd's standard. They must be 4th or something in Serie A, and rely heavily on Kaka and Seedorf.

they are two different competitions. When we won the CL in 05, we came 5th in the league (behind the bitters ._.). AC, like us, rarely win the league anymore, but do well on euro nights. They proved that by, you know, WINNING THE COMPETITION last season. AC are better in Europe than United, Arsenal have to play well or get destroyed.

Arsenal by half-time did not even care for the FA cup, so you saw them play pretty shit for the last 45 minutes aswell.

I am laughing at how much shit Rafa gets for his team rotation, just look at what happens when he continues with it.

There is nothing wrong with rotation haha. One grand example of this is when we beat Besiktas 8-0, we kept the same team for Fulham and needed to sub Torres on to beat a team bound for championship football after 82 minutes. There was another example of this throughout our season so far iirc, I just can't remember what teams they were.

Rafa is taking blame for the players not turning up. He put out a team that should be able to thrash Barnsley, as I said before compare the team sheets. But no. Although he did fuck up a little - Itandje in goal for FA cup and Babel off for Kewell wtf

Put it this way, the "keep Rafa as LFC Manager campaign" lost a load of its members after yesterday's performance.

Put it this way, the "keep Rafa as LFC Manager campaign" lost a load of its members after yesterday's performance.

And what I'm trying to explain is that Rafa doesn't mind control the players, it's not his fault they fucked up. That team could've easily won.

Yes, true. However, the Manager is responsable, that's football?

It's the fact that he keeps rotating like a 3rd of his team every match, from what I hear. I know that may be over exadgerating, it's still not good to keep switching the majority of his team around, which is why he gets the critisism.

I am about to watch their match with Inter Milan.

It's only a matter of time before Liverpool go 3 up, then concede 3 to Inter. That's how AC Milan lost to Liverpool, and it would screww Liverpool over with 3 aways goals.

It's all about tommmorow and Man Utd. Vs. Lyon.
