The Very Exciting Team [OU RMT]

I've been circling Smogon for a while now, looking at RMTs and trying to help people with their teams- then I realized that I could probably use some help with mine. I hope the title is representative of the team lol. I've got 2 normal immunities, 1 fire, 2 fighting, 2 poison, and 3 ground. Heres the line-up:

The Lead:

Gengar @ Life Orb
Nature: Timid
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP/ 252 SpA/ 252 Spe
- Shadow Ball
- Thunderbolt
- Focus Blast
- Energy Ball

The ONE member of my team that I am unwilling to switch. Gengar with LO is a surprise lead because many people expect a taunt- SR lead, or a spikes lead, or something of that nature. Gengar comes in, and people are probably thinking hypnosis or a scarf. If Gengar meets a lead he cant deal with, he switches out, and can come back later in the game to score some legit KOs. I really only have Energy Ball for Swampert and for Hippowdon and such, but i was thinking of removing that for maybe HP Fire or Substitute. What do you think?

The Sly One:

Rotom-H @ Choice Scarf
Nature: Modest
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP/ 252 SpA/ 252 Spe
- Overheat
- Thunderbolt
- Shadow ball
- Trick

Ahh Rotom. Rotom-H is blessed with the fact that it gains Overheat, and although it isn't STABed it does do a lot of damage. Rotom can usually switch right in when Gengar dies, and Trick the incoming pokemon. It's common switch-ins have been Tyranitar, Blissey and Swampert, and the latter two hate being tricked. If I do end up keeping the scarf on Rotom, he scores some nice KOs on CM Latias and other variants (barring Choice Scarf). I realized that two ghosts are better than one when it comes to blocking STAB CC's (cough infernape) so I feel that it warrants Rotom's spot on this team.

The Omni-Present

Scizor @ Choice Band
Nature: Adamant
Ability: Technician
EVs: 248 HP/ 252 Att/ 8 Spe
- U-turn
- Pursuit
- Superpower
- Bullet Punch

The CBZor is the most overused pokemon in the OU tier, and for good reason. Choice Band on an already monstrous attack stat is nothing to scoff at but everyone already knows that. Anyway, Scizor is an amazing scouter, and I find myself using U-turn more than I actually use BP. Pursuit is an amazing move as well, and I actually find it useful against Blissey's (haha) as they expect a Superpower and get Pursuited. The EV's of course are to be slower than opposing Scizors and hit hard with their defense drop after Superpower.

The Suprise

Heatran @ Leftovers
Nature: Timid
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 4 HP/ 252 SpA/ 252 Spe
- Substitute
- Fire Blast
- Earth Power
- Will-o-Wisp

Heatran really is amazing. I dont think anything in the game can force switches like he can. I usually bring in Heatran on Metagross, or something that would normally be OHKOed by a Specs/Scarf Fire Blast or Earth Power. Then Gyarados comes in (honestly like 90% of the time). I love this, because when they switch, I sub up, and then theyre like "oh shoot". Once I sub up, gyara either opts for the waterfall or the DD (hoping for a switch) and I respond with WoW, crippling what was once a great sweeper. Heatran also soaks up the fire attacks that would constantly wreck this team. I really love this variant.

The Inevitable

Lucario @ Life Orb
Nature: Jolly
Ability: Inner Focus
EVs: 4 Def/ 252 Att/ 252 Spe
- Swords Dance
- Ice Punch
- Close Combat
- Extreme Speed

It's inevitable. You will get hit by Lucario, and you will get hit hard. Arguably the best mid/end-game sweeper, all I have to do is bring Luke in on a CB-locked Pursuit (oh Scizor...) and get an SD in. The ghost types are able to lure in Scizor and all of a sudden, they become set-up bait for Luke. I chose Jolly over Adamant because Gengar and Rotom can fire STAB Shadow Balls at Ghost and Psychic types, and here or there sometimes I catch a Mence off-guard without some speed EVs and hit with a 4x super effective Ice Punch. I was thinking of dropping Extreme Speed for Bullet Punch though, cause it's frustrating when Gengar comes in and walls a sweep completely. What do you think?

The Hell-Raiser

Salamence @ Life Orb
Nature: Naughty
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 232 Att/ 24 SpA/ 252 Spe
- Dragon Dance
- Earthquake
- Fire Blast
- Outrage

None can fathom the might of DD-Mence. I personally think that in todays metagame apart from Scizor, Salamence IS the biggest threat, and thats probably why he's #2 in usage. I loved Salamence to begin with, and I wanted something to hit hard and hit faster than luke when Gengar was done. I decided on DD-Mence, who can also come in on a CB Pursuit, get one set up, and work some magic from there. Blissey usually comes in (i don't know why, is there a rise in Specs variants?) and after a DD, Outrage does 129.95% - 152.84% to the common Calm- Wish/Protect Bliss. Cresselia with a 252 HP/252 Def spread, another annoying wall, takes 61.49% - 72.30% , enough for a sure 2HKO. All-in-all, Mence has the ability to rip teams to shreds, no doubt.

Threat list coming!

Something you may want to know is that Scizor isn't a reliable switch to any common Ghost type, Lucario won't be getting his oppurtunities from them. Lucario gets his oppurtunities from your Ghost type's worst enemy, Tyranitar. He has 4x Resist to both STAB moves (although CB T-tar's moves still dent you), threatens immediately with Close Combat, and can kill incoming GHOST types with Ice Punch being changed to Crunch. Jolly on Lucario doesn't outrun anything important, as most switch ins will be something faster, and something with resists/immunity to either CC or ES. Jolly Gliscor automatically forces a switch (Ice Punch is risking him being faster) on your part. Your team has a huge weakness (except Lucario) to DD Tyranitar, who can OHKO Gengar, Rotom, Salamence, and possibly Lucario if he has taken about 12% already. If the DD Tyranitar is running EQ, thats game over right there. Your best option would be to spam Intimidate with Salamence, while blocking the Stone Edge with Lucario. If SR is up, that's pretty much game right there. SubPetaya Empoleon could cause you major problems late game. I don't understand why you have Rotom-H, when Heatran fills the counter to Scizor and whatever else. I suggest a different Rotom form, in your case Rotom-C (Leaf Storm beating down bulky waters if Gengar doesn't stick around) or Rotom-W (Hydro Pump would be useful on a team with absolutely no Water attacks).

Threat List

Azelf: Faster than Gengar, so usually gets Psychic off for the OHKO. I predict that most of the time and switch to Rotom to pick it off with Shadow Ball.

Breloom: Rotom checks it pretty nicely. Mence as well with Fire Blast.

Celebi: Gotta figure out the set first to decide what spectrum I'm gonna hit from. Scizor does well when Celebi isnt carrying HP fire, and Rotom does well on most sets.

Dugtrio: Easily picks off Heatran, but Mence, Gengar and Rotom have an imunity to Arena Trap. Scizor takes Trio's hits pretty well too.

Electivire: DD-Mence, Scizor take care of him.

Empoleon: Empoleon falls to Luke's CC before Agility, Gengar and Rotom both have T-bolt to hit him with as well.

Flygon: The popular Scarf variant isnt too bad. Whatever he gets locked into, I just switch into a counter and either set up (ie. Flygon uses EQ, Mence comes in and DD ups, allowing it to now outrun Flygon and OHKO with Outrage).

Gengar: I usually win speed ties with Gengar cause of timid, but rotom with Scarf can revenge kill nicely.

Gliscor: Hate this thing. I usually rely on Mence to deal some nice damage through Outrage, or if I know that the opponent has a Gliscor, I get Luke to Ice Punch on the predicted switch.

Gyarados: Love using Heatran to cripple it. Gengar T-bolts before a DD, and Rotom T-bolts after a DD.

Heatran: So many scarves running around that hes pretty predictable these days. Heatran can mess up a Fire Blast locked one. If its not scarved, Luke and Mence deal with it well.

Heracross: Kinda slow so gets hit Fire Blast from either Mence or Heatran behind a sub. Overheat from Rotom as well.

Infernape: Soooo versatile. Mence with a DD under his belt can EQ for the OHKO, but generally you want to find out what Infernape variant you are up against. Rotom is immune to one of his STABs and can deal with Flamethrowers/Fireblast and hit back with Shadow Ball.

Jirachi: Mence deals with it nicely, but it can get annoying with a Choice Scarf. Switching in Heatran on one thats locked into Iron Head is a given.

Kingdra: Needs to set up to be effective anyway so +1 speed Mence OHKO's with Outrage. STAB Shadow Balls from Rotom and Gengar do well against his 95 SpD as well.

Latias: Used to annoy me until I learned how to use Pursuit effectively. Scizor/the ghosts, deal with this thing.

Lucario: My Jolly one outruns Adamant ones. Mence OHKO's with Earthquake. Hopefuly Heatran forces a switch too.

Machamp: If this thing gets WoW'ed, its pretty much useless. Or if rotom Tricks Scarf onto it when locked into Dynamic Punch or Payback, allows Gengar to come in and revenge kill, or Luke to set up.

Magnezone: Assuming its the Scizor killer one, Heatran can come in after and force a switch. Mence, Rotom as well.

Mamoswine: +2 Luke OHKOs with Close Combat. Rotom with Overheat.

Metagross: I hit this thing with Shadow Balls till it dies, or Heatran and Mence can come in and hit with either Earthquake/ Earth Power/ Fire Blast.

Ninjask: Gengar with T-Bolt makes short work of him. So does everyone else lol.

Porygon-Z: Scizor, Mence, Luke.

Rhyperior: Energy Ball on Gengar! Burning this guy with Heatran is always fun as well. Rotom can hit hard with STAB Shadow Ball.

Roserade: Heatran, Mence, Rotom. Rotom with scarf variants as well.

Rotom-A: Rotom, Gengar do well. STAB Outrage from Mence hurts too.

Salamence: Mence with a DD under his belt works. Heatran stops outraging ones and uses WoW.

Scizor: Usually a pain to deal with, but Heatran and Rotom do a good job.

Snorlax: Luke's STAB CC does well, as well as Outraging Mence.

Starmie: This is a pain. Without a Scarf on Rotom and a DD with Mence, it outruns everything and is so versatile. DD-Mence and Rotom do okay.

Suicune: Tricking him is perfect. Gengar isnt bad as well. I dont know why Cune isnt Uber.

Togekiss: Luke's Ice Punch hits hard. Mence's Outrage, T-bolt from the Ghosts.

Tyranitar: Luke switches in on CB pursuits. He can also OHKO every other variant with CC barring the Choice Scarf one. Mence's EQ as well.

Weavile: Scizor makes such short work of this thing. Most people expect a Bullet Punch and switch out, so I U-turn most of the time and Bullet Punch later.

Yanmega: Wow I faced one of these and they are legit. Scarf Rotom still doesnt outspeed it after a Speed boost and Bug Buzz isnt Bad. Heatran does well usually.

Zapdos: Kinda annoying but Lukes Ice Punch can do well. Outraging Mence. He cant really hit Rotom hard either, so tricking a scarf onto him is good as well.
