UK Pokémon Event - GAME Stores

This is pretty cool, but the nearest one to me is still about 30 miles away. The UK itself doesn't too well on events as a whole, and Scotland is even worse off. I don't suppose anyone else will be going to the one in Glasgow? Might give me more of an incentive to go myself.

I'm going to the one in Sheffield, either Fargate or Meadowhall...

I'm actually quite excited, never been to a Pokémon event before :)

I'd be happy to a meet up at either.

Most likely going to one of these, depending on whether I go to Scotland or not this Easter:

London
- Brent Cross Shopping Centre, NW4 3FD
Glasgow The Fort - 285 Provan Walk, Glasgow Fort Shopping Centre, Junction 10 - M8
Glasgow - Sauchiehall Street, G2 2DH
Harrow - St. Anns Road, HA1 1JX

Plus you'll even be able to battle the legendary Pokémon trainer!*

Does anyone know what this will involve?

Will it be an automated battle, like in Battle Tower, or will there be someone controlling it?

If someone is controlling it, will you have to que up to battle them?

Will I need an IV Bred + EVed Team for it?
(I reset my game, about to challenge the 8th gym, so I should be done soon, just I don't want to waste my time hastily breeding a team to find out I needn't have bothered).

I've never been to a distribution event before! I'm excited and not sure what to expect.
(I went to a Pokémon TCG event way back in RBY days :))

Yes, I want to know as well. Hopefully people can post some vids of this "epic battle" or something.

Maybe it's a JAA champion (I know, it's a UK event), or perhaps Showdown?

I've tried searching Google + Youtube for any info on the 'epic trainer battle' at the TRU Shaymin event in America to no avail.

I may ring up both Sheffield and Meadowhall stores to see if they have any info (they probably won't know, or they won't tell me).

UPDATE: I've Googled the UK Darkrai event (which I missed), and it seems to mention battling the pokemon trainer, but no actual info about it)
http://bmgf.bulbagarden.net/showthread.php?t=30125

Did anyone who went to the Darkrai event battle the trainer?
Could you shed any light?

Just stumbled across this website & forum/board with a lucky Google search a couple of minutes ago... and I'm SO glad I found this, as well as quite... _relieved_ this event is happening at all - to be honest I was starting to worry it wouldn't happen for aaaaages, after the last event (for Darkrai) was in Woolworths, and, well... look what's happened to Woolworths since (R.I.P. ♥). And for some reason I couldn't imagine it being in Toys 'R' Us again. But good ol' GAME to the rescue!
Also, the fact that it's here in the UK only two months after the US... the UK is getting better! Nice to know we haven't been completely forgotten & neglected! :D I'm thinking of attending all of the London dates (5th, 8th & 9th I think?!), because I have Easter break from university 'til 14th April and haven't got anything better to do with my time until then. xD

Also, for something slightly off-topic: I'm wondering if anybody here attended the Beckton (East London) Darkrai event last year (which I think was on August 29th...? :S)? If so it'd be nice to be reacquainted with some of the people from last August, that was a fun day.

UK POKEMON DARKRAI EVENT - A PERSONAL EXPERIENCE.

Gives us answers about the epic trainer battle...
Apparently it'll be some poor employee dressed as Ash Ketchum, acting too enthusiastic.
Well that's if the Darkrai event is anything to go by.

But it sounds like it'll help to IV breed/ EV train in case I get challenged by some 13 year old with too much time on his hands...

Can you cap the levels to lv. 100 in DS to DS like you can in Wifi?

Also from a youtube comment;
Also, the 'Pokemon Trainer' was just this crappy Cosplayer that dressed up as the 1st Gen Ash and let you battle his freshly caught Ubers.

Though something intruiged me.. he had a level 45 Dialga.

About a million people at the event had hacked Pokemon.. i saw about 10 Arceus's there. And his troll-like, overweight helper that was either there for the event or was with the crew had a hundred or so hacks that he was showing him and letting him use against 5 year olds.

Is anyone other than me planning to go to the Luton one? Unlike some people, I'm not going to travel hundreds of miles when there's one less than 10 miles from where I live :P

If so, does anyone have a legit Celebi on R/S/E/FR/LG they could trade me? It's the only Pokémon I'm missing from my Sapphire dex, as there haven't been any Celebi events in the UK...

EDIT: And yes, a lot of the people there will probably be hackers. At the Darkrai event, one of the event staff had a Wondertomb on his team, with 999 in all stats (plus a shiny Darkrai and Shaymin in his boxes).

Great :(

Well I'll just have to very quickly breed + train a team (after training for days to beat Elite 4), and just be picky about who I battle (if at all).

Anyone going to one in Sheffield? (Either Fargate/Moor or Meadowhall)

Since people are asking who is going to which event, and surely people aren't going to read through all of the posts, why not have the original post updated with who will be going where?

Just a suggestion to the TC (or mods should they do it).

Yeh, I'll be adding people to the first post but it's difficult when there are so many 'maybes' or people undecided on which event they'll actually go to.

I've been to basically every UK Pokémon Event, except the Deoxys one since I didn't want to travel to Leeds (and had no money anyway).

The Darkrai Event last year was good. The Pokémon Trainer is an employee, but I'm not sure if it'll be the same guy from the Darkrai Event. He'll only be able to make one Tour date each time so they'll probably be other employee's at random events doing the battling. However, I'd imagine most stores won't have a trainer to battle, especially the smaller GAME stores.

They won't really know what they're doing so I wouldn't really be overprepared for the battle, but at the same time they'll probably use Ubers and may want the battle to be 2vs2. I didn't get to battle him at the Darkrai Event in Liverpool as he wasn't scheduled to be 'working' at that Event, not as the trainer anyway, just as staff to help people.

There was a boothe set up with Pokémon Battle Revolution, you had to line up and you'd face whoever was next to you in the line in a double battle. This seems to be the one thing that isn't mentioned for this Event so it's not going to be as good overall. Also, due to the mass amount of Events I'd imagine there won't be as many people at each Event (but still a fair few). There were goodie bags at the last Event(s), but there's no mention of one here so I don't know if I'll be getting there before/when the store opens this time.

I didn't really see a lot of people with hacks at the Event, but there were a lot of shinies on PBR.

Edit: If you want to be added to the first page, confirm which Event(s) you will be attending. - Make sure to specify the date too.

Put me down for the Guildford event then Chris ;) I'm not travelling 5+ hours up to Manchester just to puke in your front garden with Kinneas.

Kinneas and I will just have to vomit twice as much to make up for your absence Dan Dan. ^_________^

I will be. :]

=[ The only way I could get my Shaymin would be if I were to get a train into London, and then the tube. Since I'm not very good at travelling by myself on the Tube and Train (get scared that I'm always going in the wrong direction >_>) and I doubt my parents would want to go into London for their 16-year old son who plays Pokemon, I doubt I could get my 'Min. Shame, because there was a Darkrai event on my front door (or a 10 minute walk >_>).

Keeret and I will definetely go to the Birmingham event on the 16th can;t wait :)nhope theres a tournament like there was in gloucester for the Darkrai event last yr :)
