NU Index and Reservation Thread

I'd like to reserve Magmar. Also here is explanation why (although I'm not sure if it is a thread for it, if needed I'll post it somewhere else):

Magmar pick at first may make no sense especially when Magmortar is available, but Magmar has a good niche, which he can provide unlike Magmortar - it's a specially defensive pivot (with Eviolite) on teams with immunity on sleep (taking into account how unreliable RestTalk is this generation and how annoying sleep is, it makes good sleep absorber valuable addition to most/all teams). Magmar is not outclassed by any special wall/tank just because of being the Fire type with Vital Spirit, making him a really good check (I may say pretty much a counter too, unless they run Psyshock or Jynx runs Choice Specs) against Jynx, Exeggcutor, Magmortar, Haunter and Glaceon (or pretty much any Fire, Bug, Grass and Ice types) with his great special bulk. Set looks like this:

Magmar @ Eviolite
252 HP / 228 SpD / 32 Spe
Ability: Vital Spirit
Calm Nature (+SpD, -Atk)
~ Will-O-Wisp / Toxic
~ Fire Blast / Lava Plume
~ Focus Blast / Barrier
~ Hidden Power Electric / Hidden Power Grass

Unfortunately his support movepool is a bit meh, so it forces you to pretty much pick attacking moves, but fortunately Magmar has good 100 base special attack, so it's not a problem. Those Speed EVs are enough to outspeed Max Speed Timid Exeggcutor. You may use him as a defensive pivot (maybe Max SpA/Max Speed with Eviolite could work too) on really offensive teams or some sort of semi-stall/stall/balanced teams, where he works as a sleep absorber pretty well. I mentioned earlier how he takes on some offensive behemots like Exeggcutor, Magmortar, Jynx or Glaceon and it's time to show some calculations to prove it:

+2 Life Orb Max SpA Timid Jynx Psychic vs This Magmar Set
56.89% --> 67.37%
+2 Life Orb Max SpA Timid Jynx Ice Beam vs This Magmar Set
30.24% --> 35.63%
+2 Max SpA Life Orb Timid Shiftry Dark Pulse vs This MagmarSet
43.11% --> 51.20%
Timid Choice Specs Exeggcutor Psychic vs This Magmar Set
35.33% --> 41.62%
Timid Choice Specs Exeggcutor Leaf Storm vs This Magmar Set
27.25% --> 32.34%
Timid Choice Specs Magmortar Focus Blast vs This Magmar Set
31.14% --> 36.83% (this is the strongest hit Magmortar can dish out against this Magmar set)
Timid Life Orb Hidden Power Ground Haunter vs This Magmar Set
29.94% --> 35.33% (again, this is the strongest hit Haunter can dish out from standard sets)
+1 Life Orb Max SpA Timid Butterfree Hidden Power Ground vs This Magmar Set
35.33% --> 41.92% (the strongest hit this Butterfree can dish out)

Most of those Pokemon also carry some sort of sleep (Lovely Kiss, Sleep Powder, MAYBE hypnosis) so he actually can counter/check them pretty effectively. Yes, he has some crippling weaknesses like lack of instant recovery and SR weakness (but still, even if he switches directly on SR with full hp, he still COUNTERS/CHECKS them if needed), however if you can provide him some decent support (Natu, Rapid Spinner, Leech Seed, Wish) or use him as a defensive pivot on really offensive teams where his weakness won't hurt as much and you may need to switch him there max once or twice, it should works perfectly fine for your team and he shouldn't dissapoint.

BTW I think also Sandshrew deserve an analyses with decent physical bulk with Eviolite (and good typing going for it) plus always great Rapid Spin, but I don't want to reserver more then one right now (unless you won't mind waiting longer for second one). Well anyway I hope I convinced you guys about Magmar deserving an analyses ;).

stuff about magmar
rejected, loses to common shit in the metagame (set up bait for gorebyss woooo)

sandshrew
tried it a bit, seen it a bit in battle, played against it a couple times: it's a complete non-factor in most battles, loses to really common pokemon, and is in general meh. rejected.

Ok, dudes and dudettes (wow, that was lame. anyways), it's only 2 weeks left until your analyses needs to be written; the deadline is the 29th of february and any analyses not written by the 1st of march will be reassigned and might result in an infraction.

(Also, the index is now completly up to date, i.e. including name changes and all that. A lot of name changes...)

Epic doublepost cause I have to; OMG, TORKOAL IS UP FOR RESERVATION!1!11!

But in all seriousness:

Torkoal is availble to be written, using this skeleton. Just post a new thread and use that skeleton as the base.
