Rate of the Week
Welcome to Rate of the Week! This is a project that looks to bring quality individual rates into the spotlight and recognizes the hard work of unbadged raters. Here's how it will work:
  • Each week, official Team Raters will be paying close attention to the RMT forum and reading the rates posted in their respective tiers. They will then shortlist a few which will be in contention for the Rate of the Week award.
  • From the pool of shortlisted rates, one will be chosen which most exemplifies the qualities of an excellent rate. That rater will be the winner for that particular tier!
  • A post will be made by an official TR who specialises in that tier, explaining how and why the particular rate won. This will allow aspiring raters to gain an idea of what constitutes high-quality rates, and hopefully incorporate those aspects into their own rates.
  • There will be multiple winners every week, one from OU and a couple from other tiers depending on the quality of the rates posted. We hope that in this way we can expand rating activity in less popular tiers, while maintaining a weekly OU winner.
  • Official Team Raters are eligible to win, but not more than once. Unbadged raters can win the award multiple times.
So what's in it for the winners? Well, they will earn a place in the Hall of Fame, which will be kept in the OP of every thread, and their rates will be announced on Twitter. Winners also earn more consideration for the Ladybug
and Team Rater
badges.

We hope that this project will encourage people to put more effort into their rates and become better and more experienced raters, which will consequently increase the quality as well as the quantity of rates in the forum. Good luck to you all! :)

This week's OU winner is Timeless. Timeless' changes consist on using Mega Pinsir with an adamant nature, usually we tend to think about using mega Pinsir with a jolly nature, but with metagame shifts Adamant becomes now an excellent way in order for Mega Pinsir to cause havoc, with adamant Pinsir can now ohko even defensive behemoths like Rocky Helmet Garchomp, and also a roll for Hippowdon.

The second change of Toxic over Ice Fang on Hippowdon is a bit more controversial though, in order to avoid Mega Slowbro and other bulky stat uppers lacking rest or magic guard, though it should be stated that stuff like mega Slowbro does not have many setup opportunities on this team and that Toxic is a bit "extreme" as a solution for Mega Slowbro regardless.

The third change remind us why Physically Defensive Rotom-W is so much better than its Special Defensive counterpart, if we analyze the team stuff like opposing Mega Pinsir, especially after the nature change, Earth Plate Landorus-T and most importantly SD+Wow Talonflame are all problematic threat for this team, due to Rotom-Wash being specially defensive it is much more easy to wear down, and not having Smooth Rock, giving Excadrill a very "limited time" does not help either.

The last change might seem strange as Choice Specs Sylveon acts a bit differently than CM Clefable, Clefable brings some solidity to the team, something that Specs Sylveon can't do, after some Calm Mind boosts Clefable can still plow its way to the opposing team, alas, Thunder Wave also helps against threats such as Mega Metagross, giving now Mega Pinsir the ability to outspeed it and kill it at +2 if weakened. Thanks to his formatting and the efficient changes to improve the team, Timeless has earned himself a spot in the Hall of Fame. Congrats!

This week we have an Ubers winner and it's DropTheBass!

First of all, his layout is excellent. In fact, he colored his suggestions to catch the eye of the reader and then justified each suggestion. After that, he gave the importable of the modified sets and new Pokemon. Finally, he made a small summary of the modifications in bold.

Now going more into the rate, he kept Mega Lucario since the team poster wanted to build around it. he suggested changing Primal Groudon's move-set by adding Stone Edge instead of Lava Plume since the team is weak to Ho-Oh and Thunder Wave instead of Dragon Tail to cripple Geomancy Xerneas, which was a threat to the team. He also noticed that the team relies a lot on Waterceus to check threats and that it can not handle Ho-Oh alone. To remedy this, he suggests an Expert Belt Rock Slide Xerneas to lure in Ho-Oh and relieve pressure off Waterceus so it can handle other threats better. Finally, he noticed that the team was weak to Darkrai, so he suggested Scarf Zekrom with Sleep Talk. It can check Darkrai and revenge kill the Pokemon Yveltal used to check like Latis and Mewtwo.

Thanks to his formatting and the efficient changes to improve the team, DropTheBass has earned himself a spot in the Hall of Fame. Congrats!
