Pokemon Platinum - The definitive thread: Mach 3 (Competitive Discussion)

Goodbar...really thanks for your job! :D

I'm going to save this page so I can read each update for the tutor moves when you edit your post...and waiting for seeing your list in the first page :P

Really thanks dude :)

Most unlikely tutor list ever:

Steelix does not get Iron Defense. Steelix does get Magnet Rise.

I believe there was an adage about the horror of Blue Whales flying.

I doubt Steelix is any better.

This clinches it - the tutors are being decided by a dartboard.

Although shouldn't Steelix use Earthquake as the effect ends, considering in game weight it is EIGHT HUNDRED AND EIGHTY POUNDS?

It's disappointing that Cherrim didn't get Fire Punch but at least with Seed Bomb and to an Extent Roll Out, Physical Cherrim just became Viable :)

Hm, if we abuse Flower Gift somehow, a physical Cherrim sounds really fun!

Something like;
Cherrim @ Heat Rock/Leftovers
Adamant
- Sunny Day
- Seed Bomb
- Return
- Leech Seed/Grasswhristle/Filler

The EVs should focus on Def/HP/Speed, since its ability will already boost the Atk and Sp. Def.

Fun~

Has anybody tried teaching Endeavor or any other moves to Sceptile? If it can be tutored to it, then that means that maybe Leech Seed+Substitute+Endeavor will finally be possible.

Edit: Nevermind, I thought I saw Endeavor in the list of tutored moves.

Edit2: Actually Endeavor is a tutored move according to Serebii, so has anyone tried teaching Endeavor to Sceptile?

Azelf has all sorts of new physical toys to play with, so a Choice Band set is looking viable.

- Zen Headbutt
- U-turn
- Fire Blast / Ice Punch
- Explosion

It can even TrickBand, but I can't see that being too helpful.

I don't know if it's been said before but, damn! Look at the list for the Superpower move tutor! Dragonite, the bugs...

FTFY >_>

>_>

Well, if someone breaks the Sub on Walrein, and Walrein decides to go under with Dive that same turn... the opponent can bring in a faster guy who OHKOs Walrein (ie: Specsmence Draco Meteor has a chance depending on your EVs) and force a switch.

If Salamence hasn't been revealed yet, he could bluff and go for a Dragon Dance instead, which would now translate into DD Outrage. I'll bring Walrein back in later who can absorb Garchomp SD Outrages... so I'm pretty sure Salamence would be fine. But it would only work on the revenge kill.

Dive puts too many opportunities into the opponent's hand. Mud Slap as a joke moveset would work to at least force switches and give Walrein some evasion hax (You do have Stealth Rocks / Toxic Spikes on before you brought out Stallrein, right?). If you can predict the switchout, double-roar == 12.5% damage on two enemy pokemon at once.

Anyway... I just find the idea of reducing the enemy's accuracy vs Walrein even more funny. It wouldn't work, but IMO, quite funny :-)

I'd just like to say Vacuum Wave Blaziken is sexy. ^_^
As if Superpower wasn't?

Not seeing a great deal of use for Vacuum Wave Blaziken actually. Maybe if he could boost his SpA somehow...Infernape and his Nasty Plotting abilities are just much better suited to it I think. This is the set I'm looking forward to using.

Blaziken @ Choice Scarf
216 Atk / 52 SpA / 240 Spe
Naughty

- Superpower
- Flare Blitz
- Thunderpunch
- Hidden Power Ice

Very powerful, yet slightly slow (384) Choice Scarfer. Just seems very difficult to wall if you've got your prediction hat on. Two 120 BP STAB moves with great coverage and perfectly complimented by a psuedo BoltBeam. The comfortable switch-ins to the two STAB moves (think Gyarados, Salamence, Gliscor, Starmie) are crippled by the other two moves. DDGyara takes up to 97% (factoring in Intimidate) and Gliscor and 252/0 Salamence are both OHKO'd after SR damage. 176/0 Starmie loses up to 74% of it's health. Just looks like a really fun set...I'm still praying that Blaziken gets Close Combat as an egg move (as unlikely as that may be) because Superpower kinda sucks.

Kricketune @ Life Orb
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -Sp. Atk)
Trait: Swarm
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
- Swords Dance
- X-Scissor
- Night Slash
- Brick Break

I doubt anyone's going to actually use Kricketune, although his coverage isn't too bad.

It's just everything else is bad.

lol magnet rise lix

Steelicks used magnet rise

5 turns later

Magnet rise wore off

Steelicks crashed to the ground

Foe Flareon was smushed

ITS A ONE HIT KO

Brock: Go Steelix, fly me to pallet town! xD

edit:

By the way the only tutor move shaymin gets at 212 is Zen Headbutt. I guess I'll check sky shaymin in the day, but don't get your hopes up. Darn, icy wind would have been really nice too. >.>

I wonder if the addition of Heatwave will make offensive Zapdos more popular than the defensive support Zapdos. It still gets walled vs stuff like Swampert and Gliscor depending on which hidden power it chooses, but at least it has another move that it can fire off of that 125 base special attack.

@Blazer: Huh? I somehow missed how Gliscor walls heatwave from 125 base special attack. That thing is going to sting. >.<

edit: Modest Specsdos' Heatwave does 62.99% - 74.01% to 252 HP gliscor. LO still is a 2hko with 54.52% - 64.12%
