The weird thing is that we weren't playing on the CAP server! I don't have the CAP team builder update downloaded, but my opponent did. This means that there is an error in Metronome that lets it choose moves from other servers' team builder extensions if you've downloaded them.Ah, I'm assuming you were on Doug's Create-a-Pokemon Server for that battle then. ShadowStrike is the custom move for the Pokemon Kitsunoh there, being a physical Ghost-type move with 80 BP and a 50% chance of lowering the opponent's defense. It is one of only two custom-moves implemented on the server, with the other being Stratagem's Paleo Wave, a special Rock-type attack with 85 BP and a 10% chance of lowering the opponent's defense.
Anyway, since you were playing on the CAP-server, where those moves exist, they got into Metronome's selectable move-list, and thus ShadowStrike appearing.
Is there a way for me to not see the main chat immediately? The best method I have at the moment is private messaging myself.
ive been lookin to sign up for the smogon tutorin program where can u sign up
Shoddy's ladder system records battle statistics and trends on Pokemon usage, and uses popular competitive clauses. These help shape the various tiers, like OU, UU, and NU, as trends and experience give us a sense of what works and what doesn't. For awhile, I've been wondering what the tiers would look like and how dramatically the battle environment would shift if certain restricting clauses were removed, like sleep, freeze, evasion, and OHKO. Additionally, I'd like to see item clause picked up as well, as being a fan boy from the stadium days, I've always felt that item clause had an official feeling to it. It's not that I don't think the sleep clause doesn't have an official feeling to it either, but stadium only had three Pokemon used in a battle, but with six Pokemon you have a little more leeway for planning for such factors. Evasion might be annoying, but there are plenty of ways around it these days, and such moves are rarely seen with a lack of evasion usage. As it is, the battle environment is a bit over centralized around key features in a Pokemon, but I wonder how dramatically the battle scene would shift if a full feature battle tier were set up. I'm not proposing that the current battle system be eliminated either, just for this one to be given it's own ladder, to see what would pan out, and what Pokemon would be in what tier in such a battle system.
How do you find out how high you on the LeaderBoard? eg. No. 4 in OU, No. 9 in UU, ect...
I would like to add that it appears that you must choose "Smogon University" from the "Team Builder" section of the welcome screen, rather then "Standard Metagame". For some reason, only teams to be built for Smogon will have the HG/SS moves in them. This confused me for a long time before I figured it out... But if you build the team from inside the Smogon University server, then it automatically uses "Smogon University" so the moves will be there. It also seems that you cannot edit an old pre-HG/SS team to have HG/SS moves, you must remake the team completely.
There is no patch. The Smogon Server updates itself. To access the new moves, go to file -> new team. I think you can also edit your existing teams with the new moves.
Quick question.
Recently I've been having some trouble with shoddy. All I'm getting are empty servers e.g 0/500. I have gotten a wireless router, which port/s do I need to have open in my router settings to be able to play on shoddy servers. Kinda new to this router business.
Jumpluff is currently listed as having the illegal moveset of Encore + Aromatherapy; however, according to Serebii, Clefairy can learn Aromatherapy through breeding in HG/SS and can learn Encore by level up, so it should be legal now. Is this something that the server owner has to take care of (and if so, who should I inform about this?), or is this something programmed into Shoddy itself and thus will have to wait until Shoddy Battle 2?
Will Shoddy ever get the double battle system?
Thanks guys, but it was my question was more along the lines of trying to help my buddy update his server. Im sorry for wording my question badly. XD
Anyways, is there a way to update/add the HG/SS moves to a server since the patch hasnt been released yet ? I mean Smogon, TU and a few others have the updates so there must be a way to implement them, so does anyone know how to do this ? (Hopefully this was a little better worded haha). I already PM'd Colin etc but sadly no reply, i guess he is busy and stuff, but yeah lol.
Tried that, but it didn't work, same thing comes up...empty servers.Well, I dont know much about ports, but I dont need to mess around with them. My Shoddy finds the servers just fine. Try putting the ports and whatever back to default, then try again.
EDIT: Make sure you have a Firewall exception for Shoddy Battle. Your Firewall could be blocking the servers from contacting you properly.
Anyone know what that means?Unimplemented intrinsic ability: Stall
Unimplemented move: Natural Gift
Unimplemented move: Recycle
There are 2 unimplemented moves.
The move library is 100% implemented.
You're GMT -6 then, as your six hours behind Greenwich, England:How do you know what GMT you are in? I live in Rochester, Minnesota if that helps I also know its Central.
No, not that I known of. All strict damage clause does, is if an attack would do more than 100% damage to an opponent, like say 150% or whatever, it would only show the amount as having been 100%, since it's impossible in-game to actually know if you've done more than 100% damage without knowing the opponent's spread and having done damage calculations.Quick question:
Is there any clause that prevents intentional use of critical hits?
(I.e. Using scope lens on Absol/Honchcrow and using night slash)
would not be any intentional attempt to do crits, maybe I was mistaken...
I Thought strict damage clause implied that there would be no attempt to do critical hits, unless I am wrong.
Thanks!
