I think it's a bad idea in general to maximize Defense on Blissey, it's redundant. If you want a physically bulky Pokémon, use one with a base Defense higher than 10, save Blissey for being specially bulky, leave physical Defense to something else. That's my opinion at least
I think the rationale is that since every fourth EV at level 100 is equal to one bonus point in defense, 252 points in Defense raises a Blissey's defense by a higher PERCENT than 252 points in Special Defense.

I am just getting into competitive battling and and currently working on breeding my team and am wondering how importing ivs are. I know your team and how well you play is the most important factor in deciding a match, but I have a gengar with 4def/8spDef ivs(max spAtk/spe iv) and am wondering if I should breed one with higher defensive stats.
I say go for it. It might just be a few percent, but you never know; it could be that few percent that lets your pokemon hang in there by the skin of its teeth.

Let's just say that both the opponent and the defendant decide to switch out their Pokemon on the same turn. Who will switch out first?

I know you may think it doesn't matter, but I was wondering if I were to switch first and switch in my Wobbuffet, will the opponent be trapped.
I've wondered this as well. My guess would be that the game considers them to be simultaneous, as otherwise it's gonna screw one of the players over by completely random chance.

Care to give it a shot? I also have a Wobbuffet, so we would be able to test this thing out.

Haha. It's okay. I actually solved my own question. My cousin just came and we tested it out.

This is how our experiment turned out:
Me: Sent out Crobat
Him: Sent out Pikachu
Me: Returned Crobat, sent out Wobbuffet (so I went first)
Him: Returned Pikachu, sent out Quilava

So I guess it doesn't work. :/

I have this level 100 trained Starmie that I bred in Ruby with IVs of 1/7/27/31/28/31 in HP/Atk/Def/SpA/SpD/Spd and a PID of 729702235. I can confirm that the HP IV of 1 was not inherited from its parents.

My question: is that HP IV of 1 tied to its PID? Would, say, changing it to 31 through Pokesav make it illegitimate by detection? I guess I want to know if changing that one IV would be considered a "legal" hack in the vein of hacking a 3rd gen tutor move onto a compatible Pokemon now residing in a DS game.

Thanks to anyone who responds!

Say, if both Pokemon use a debuff/buff move in a double battle, can Magic Coat/Snatch reflect/steal both of them? Respectively, of course.
Er. To put it in less confusing terms, can Magic Coat and Snatch work twice in one turn?

I think Snatch just steals the first move used so it wouldn't steal both of them.

Killamancer: Gengar is so frail that that should be fine. If you were breeding something like Salamence that can actually take a hit, you would want to go with something like 27+/31/27+/31/27+/31 since you'll actually be switching it into attacks that it's not immune to. Overall, you should always try for 31 in speed (unless the Pokemon is a wall in its own speed teir or get 0 if you're going for Trick Room or Gyro Ball) and try to get max in the stats it will use the most and atleast 27 in the stats it doesn't use as much.

Also, if it doesn't have Hidden Power Ice, you could consider breeding another one, since HP Fire would result in less SpAtk and Spe. In case you don't know, you can get HP Ice if you breed 31 SpAtk, SpDef, and Spe onto the Gengar and have the Def IV be even and have at most one of the HP or Atk IVs odd.

Magic Coat only reflects the last special attack that hit the user.

Um...no. That's Mirror Coat!

Yes they can! Which ever goes first is decided using the speed of each Pokemon. Of course Trick Room is counted as well. If it's a speed tie one is randomly chosen. Of course if Magic Coat steals something then Snatch can not steal the same one so it will fail. If the opponent is using two moves then they both can steal one but not the same one!

Quick question, this might be the wrong place for it. i'm building a sub petaya yanmega and i'm just wondering what hp value i have to hit to activate berry on 3 subs..

divisible by 4, +1? -1?

Is there any IV calculator I can use to determine the IVs of a pokemon when I know some of the IVs and Hidden Power type, without having to use rare candies?

I have a lv. 1 "outstanding potential" Scyther with the known IVs:
31/x/x/31/31/31 and the Hidden Power type Ice.

I can't atm do a lv. 100 IV battle nor do I want to level-grind it and count any Effort Points. Thanks.

If Skill Swap is used, and the pokemon skill swapped switches out, are they still skill swapped? Does the pokemon left in still have their ability? and if they switch back in, will they have their own ability or the other pokemon's?

I just want to know if it is possible to duplicate abilities using Skill Swap.

Well, all I know is that the higher the level the more certain you are of the IV's. I've read somewhere that it is adviseable that the pokemon whose IV's you are checking must be at least level 50 so that the data you get is more accurate. Since it is easier to IV check with 0 EVs in all stats and you don't want to touch the EVs of your pokemon, you can either go the easy way and use Rare Candies or go the really, really, really hard way and level up your pokemon in the day care.

Good Luck.

In HGSS?

HP - Slopoke @ Slopoke Cave
Attk - Goldeen @ Route 42 (Surf)
Def - Geodude, Gligar, Graveler @ Route 45
SpA - Bell Tower (Night)
SpD - Tentacruel @ Route 34
Spe - Magikarp

lol i forgot to put for what game. but yea for HG/SS

but..... Magikarp for speed EVs? Thats a new one to me.

What are the best possible EV spots for training?

A a better and more detailed list that I've made on another site. This way you can gather any EV at any time of day:
HP:
Route 29: Hoothoot(1) 85% appearance rate, night only
Ilex Forest: Caterpie (1) 50-60% appearance rate, morning-day only

Attack:
Routes 24 % 25 (surf): Goldeen (1) 90% appearance

Defense:
Dark Cave - Route 31 entrance: Geodude(1) 60% appearance rate

Sp.Attack:
Sprout Tower 2F & 3F: Ghastly (1) 85% appearance rate (night only)
Route 6 (surf): Psyduck (1) 90% appearance rate

Sp.Defense:
route 34/41 (Surf): Tentacool(1) and Tentacruel (2)

Speed:
Slowpoke Well - 1F: Zubat (1) 85% appearance rate
Any body of water (Old Rod): Magikarp (1) 100% appearance rate

I set it up so that the pokemon with EVs also are at the lowest possible level, to make EV training quicker and easier.

Also someone really should make a FAQ for the 4th gen games so that people wouldn't have to ask this. There should be one thread where anyone can go and check for what spot to EV train, etc.

When does Assurance do double damage? Does it have to be a switch-in or can it be a Pokemon coming in because the last Pokemon fainted?
For example lets say You're using a Donphan and your Opponent has a Gallade out! Gallade uses Close Combat on your Donphan! Gallade receives 10% Life Orb damage! Donphan uses Assurance!
The power is doubled this turn because your target already received some kind of damage this turn! When switching out if the target receives damage from Stealth Rock or Spikes then the power is doubled in that situation as well! If the last Pokemon faints you do not attack!

It goes back to normal when switched out! As long as the Pokemon is on the field it will have have the Skilled Swapped ability!

How can I make celebi ivs with hidden power fire 70 acceptable by shoddy battle and why does it not let me use certain ivs with celebi?
Use this IV spread:
HP = 31
Attack = 30
Defence = 31
Speed = 30
Special Attack = 30
Special Defence = 27

would a normal rotom or a dusknoir be a better spin blocker?
Depends on your team. lol

Giving 16 EVs in HP would give you 4 Subs with 2 remaining HP!

I know you may think it doesn't matter, but I was wondering if I were to switch first and switch in my Wobbuffet, will the opponent be trapped.
I'm guessing it is based on the speed or the animation is opposing to each player. But I know for sure that all abilities and any other effects are cancelled when double switching!

I'm RNGing for an Adamant Groudon in SS and would like some feedback on possible spreads:

31/31/31/23/31/31 (Highest SpA [Overheat] I could find with all other stats flawless)
30/31/31/24/31/31 (30 HP for potential SubSalacs)
29/31/31/25/31/31 (Life Orb number garbage)

Which one? Thanks!

i would pick the first set because i doubt you will be using overheat in the first place, and get all other stats with perfect ivs is too good to pass up, but it kinda depend on the set you will make him use, the second one is only for sub salac like you said, what is kinda outclassed by rock polish, and the third...well no one cares about life orb recoil anyway.

Overheat can be useful to kill things like Skarmory and essetially gets STAB because of the Sun. However, I think you'll still kill anything you would want to use it on with an IV of 23, anyway.

Just a quick question..

If I trade any Pokemon I have from HS/SS to someone else with Pokesav, they'll be able to check my SID from just that one pokemon? No other things necessary with Pokesav?

Or does the pokemon have to be a shiny, or it has to be above a certain level?

I already caught my red gyarados :( and I don't think I have the patience to try for a 1/8000 something shiny.
Any Pokémon will do for checking SID via a hacking device, so long as you're the OT; it doesn't matter about level, shininess, EVs, or anything else that normally matters when you're trying to check it the "legit" way.
