Would having a Hasty nature on a Starmie instead of a Timid nature make much of a difference?

kinda. starmie defenses are a bit above average and it can afford to switch into random ice punchs, if you cant afford timid then hasty is fine i guess but you will miss the extra defense once in a while. AT LEAST YOU GET A BOOSTED RAPID SPIN!

I'm planning on using the Specially-based Mixape set in stadium-mode (it would most likely be the best set for this mode, right?), but was planning on giving it a Focus Sash since he is so frail and Stealth Rock is uncommon in that metagame. I know that the EV spread in the analysis (64 Atk / 252 SpA / 192 Spe) is optimized for use with Life Orb; without LO, what would be a good EV spread? I should still use a Naive nature, correct?

The EV spread is fine even when youre using Focus Sash, as iirc its designed to allow Infernape to outrun as many threats as possible (since hes in his own Speed tier).

pokesav question

I was thinking about getting pokesav to save myself some time that I would be spending RNG'ing or whatever.

Couple questions:

1.) Is there a FAQ somebody can link me?

2.) Can Nintendo employees tell if a pokemon has been hacked, even if its stats/moveset/ability/etc fall within the acceptable bounds of the game?

3.) are there any risks involved, such as corrupted save files, etc?

Ah, so the only way to use perfect pokemon at a Nintendo tournament is by RNG'ing? That kinda sucks.

I guess depending on how hard it is to learn to RNG, I might not try competitive battling, as it seems like there is a completely arbitrary barrier of entrance...

Sucks that you end up wasting so much time before you get to start learning the actual skills and mindgames you need to be good at battling.

Anyway, thanks for your help, Despotar.

What's the best HP Ice spread for Specially-based Mixape? I see these:

31/30/30/31/31/31
31/31/31/30/31/31

I assume that the first would be best, since Sp. Atk is his most important stat (other than Speed) as he uses 3 Special attacks but only 1 Physical attack?

If he'll have only one physical attack, then go with the first. Quint-flawless might look appealing, but Infernape really can't make use of the one extra point in defense and can make use of the extra point in Sp Att, since he'll be focusing on special attacks.

Fustrating.

I've been breeding shroomish for days, and up until now, I managed to get a couple of shroomish. Male with perfect IVs in att and power bracer and female with perfect IVs in spe with power ancle. Then I finnaly managed to get a shroomish with perfect Ivs on att and spe and the Adamant nature. Then I realized that I needed an Adamant with the toxic Heal ability! AAAAAAAAAh!

I'm seeking some help! Any other faster way to get a Shroomish Adamant Perfect Iv on att and spe with the toxic heal ability? Thanks.

how is it that people can get pics in their signatures? as it stands the
BB code is not allowed, so is there some other special way?

Is the Skarm-Cress-Bliss Defensive Core any good? Has anyone used this combo before, and what were some successful movesets?
Nowadays, no. Infernape kills this combo.

EDIT: Whoa, I could have sworn the Cress part wasn't there when I posted. Anyway, TyraniBoah kills it.

Question:

On the Smogon Mixed Dragonite set, why does it list thunderbolt rather than thunderpunch? Dragonite has higher attack power than special attack, and it feels a little awkward to have two other moves dramatically reduced in power after a Meteor rather than just one. Are there specific pokemon/situations that make thunderbolt necessary?

Notice how on the analysis it states that Thunderbolt is used to 2HKO standard Vaporeon and Suicune. Seeing as the most common defensive Suicune and Vaporeon sets that pose a threat to Dragonite run max Def EVs and Bold nature, I'd imagine that if you switched to Thunderpunch you would lose the 2HKOs.

As it is now Dragonite can hit them with Thunderbolt as they switch in, and then outspeed and hit them again for the kill. If you run Thunderpunch they would survive and Ice Beam Dragonite for the kill.

I guess depending on how hard it is to learn to RNG, I might not try competitive battling, as it seems like there is a completely arbitrary barrier of entrance...

Unless you mean competitive pokemon as in official nintendo tournaments, where you need to actually play using the pokemon game cart itself, i don't see why RNG is such a problem. There's always Shoddy.

Anyways, quick question: I run a Baton Pass team, with the 'usual' Ninjask, Vaporeon, etc. I use a Metagross lead to try and manage suicide leads and to hopefully force a blind double switch with Explosion.

Metagross
Adamant
31/31/31/31/31/31
252Atk/252Spd/6Def
Bullet Punch
Explosion
Earthquake
Stealth Rock

I'm unsure as to whether it would be wise to change to using a more defensive spread, maxing out both Defenses and changing the Nature. Also, would a Sash or a Lum Berry be a better option? I don't use Shuca or Occa simply because i don't plan on the Metagross surviving an Earthquake, but i haven't checked what would happen with a more defensive spread. Advice?

Lum Berry would be nowadays the better option since it allows you to kill the extremely common Machamp and sleep leads like roserade/Breloom/Smeargel.

I have no idea if a more defensive ev spread would work, but imo metagross is better with a more offensive spread.

@ 1745, the best place IMO is the Battle Tower. You can use your own team and the beginning stages are very easy to blow through. Battle Factory Rewards more points, but takes much longer is more difficult overall.
