Do I need to participate at regionals to get into nationals? Since the april regionals aren't in Indiana I cant afford the trip. (southern Ohio SUCKS!!!!) I'll go to nationals to compete for the first time but I dont want turned away just cuz I couldn't attend a regional.

The answer to your question is no. Nationals is open to any and everybody who shows up.

EDIT:Ninjask'd. :p

Hey there, i was planning for a vgc team and came across cresselia. Sadly i dont have one. Is there a good replacement for it? I'm mainly using goodstuff

Hey I need a little bit of help in team building. I have jolteon (with air balloon) and scarf garchomp to make a discharge/quake combo (though chomp uses dragon claw more), choice band terrakion, life orb physical lucario with extreme speed, ludicolo for rain teams, and a fairly standard hydreigon. I am having some trouble with fighting types, especially hitmontop, and want to drop hydreigon for something that can take them on. I would like a flier/levitater for incoming earthquakes. Azelf and gengar seem like my best options but the genies seem viable as well. I want something that can take on fighting types and win, help with psychics, and has high speed or at least priority.

I was also thinking of having only one of lucario and terrakion but terrakion has the power and speed I like while lucario is the only one with priority. Any ideas?

My team again is:
Jolteon with air balloon t-bolt, discharge, HP ice, and protect

Garchomp with choice scarf, dragon claw, earthquake, outrage, and rock slide

Lucario with life orb, close combat, crunch, extreme speed, and protect

Terrakion with choice band, rock slide, earthquake, stone edge, and close combat (rock slide adn earthquake are about the only moves used)

Ludicolo with leftovers, scald, ice beam, giga drain, protect

Hydreigon with focus sash, dragon pulse, dark pulse, flamethrower, and draco meteor.

Musharna works similarly, with less bulk but also an attacking stat that doesn't suck. Or you can look around in Wi-Fi and see if there's one you can trade for.

You have three Fighting weaknesses in a Fighting-dominated metagame. I'd start by getting rid of at least two of them. I'd also take the Band off of Terrakion if you keep it - choice moves are a lot less useful in doubles because it's harder to switch.

I just want to know the % of this as its been bugging me all month.

K so I have a electric immune pokemon, and a non electric immune mon. I use discharge with both pokemon. What are the chances of my opponent being paralysed, and whats the chances of my own non electric immune getting paralysed.

So attack 1 hits both opponents, while attack2 does the same but hits the partner?

Each opponent has a 51% chance of being paralyzed (70% chance of not being paralyzed per attack, so 1-0.7^2), your non-immune mon has a 30% chance.

Trying to emulate other playstyles without putting in the necessary amount of prep time is always a terrible idea.

^ Well, what do you want to survive that a standard 252 HP/252 Atk spread won't? And what item do you plan on holding?

What kind of set does Arcanine typically run? It seems to suffer from major four slot syndrome...was thinking of forgoing Protect for Flare Blitz/CC/Extremespeed/Wild Bolt (or Crunch for Chandelure...or Morning Sun to heal recoil). And do enough Hydreigon run Modest to warrant using Jolly over Adamant, or is Adamant always better?

Alright, seems like Flare Blitz / CC / Extremespeed / Crunch it is. I edited in the other question at the last second, but: do enough Hydreigon run Modest to warrant using Jolly over Adamant, or is Adamant always better?

It's usually Timid in my experience.

What's the best damage-boosting item for an offensive Ferrothorn? I want to OHKO Latios with Gyro Ball, but need at least a 20% item to guarantee it.

How does the game decide which Pokemon to send out or which move to use if the timer runs out? Is it random?

No, it isn't random. If you run out of time at the team preview screen, the game will choose the first four Pokemon in your team in order and the first two will be sent out first. If you run out of time at the move selection screen, your Pokemon's slot 1 move is chosen for all Pokemon that have not chosen a target for their selected move yet. If you run out of time at the Pokemon switch in screen after one of your Pokemon were KO'd, the next Pokemon in line is chosen and sent out.

I did a bit of research regarding this and I didn't know where else to post this so I put it in here. >_>

Steel Gem? Life Orb? You could also use the corresponding plate but I think in most scenarios the former two are better. Personally, of the three I would use a Steel Gem since I have an aversion to using LO in VGC...not taking that recoil can help you last an extra turn.

I didn't really like the idea of Life Orb either, but then I noticed it also guarantees a KO on 252/0 Tyranitar and 4/0 Ludicolo with Power Whip, so I'm leaning more toward it now.

I don't know what spread you are running, but 252 Atk with a neutral nature is a 99% guaranteed KO after Iron Barbs damage, since the only move most standard Tars can really hurt you with is Low Kick. Personally, I really don't like the idea of Life Orb especially on something so slow and with common weaknesses. It is your Pokemon, but that's my $0.02.
(This is of course completely discounting TR, so if you're running that ignore all of the above.)
