League of Legends: Let's Talk About uhhh??

Not all of those posts were entirely worthless, but in the interest of making the page not full spam, I've cleaned them up; please don't play pc++ games in the middle of a discussion thread. I don't think the other chloraforum mods play LoL, and since this thread is the main thing I read on Smogon these days, I don't want to see it drown in spam :(

If you want to do things that actually contribute content to the thread, go ahead.

thanks, jumpluff!

as for the previous discussion, i almost always build two doran's blades and a vamp scepter on every AD i play, exceptions being if I can skip a doran's blade to finish a key core item (like if i'm back to base with 1400 gold i'll just sell one to buy a BF sword)

for me, double dorans vamp is pretty much core since the vamp is extremely helpful for sustaining through long sieges and drawn-out engagements while the doran's blades give you quite a bit of extra health and make your mid-game very strong

even on a champion where i'm going to go triforce first, i still generally take the time to go double dorans vamp before starting on it

So my team was Malph/Lee/Galio/Blitz/Cait(me) against Riven/Jax/Fizz/Nunu/Trist. I stunk it up in bot lane. Blitz was kind of just running around missing grabs but that doesn't excuse me from missing CS and pushing the lane against a Trist. Laning ends with me at 0/2/4 and about 10 CS behind the 3/1/4 Trist. Luckily our Malph is a BAMF who ended the game 8/0/13 and their Jax built Manamune and some other weird shit.

In lane Jax kept ganking us all day while Lee afk farmed the jungle. I tried to explain to him that if he has vision on Jax he needs to either countergank or steal jungle but he kinda just wandered around aimlessly aside from a few miserable gank attempts top and a "countergank" where he just wandered to bottom lane while Blitz and I were B-ing after Blitz got a double on Jax and Nunu and Trist ran off.

Anyway, despite this we were outpushing them hard. And I just went BT/PD/LW instead of IE/PD/LW. I finally get to 3/3/8 and buy my LW and we all group up mid. I get two double kills and an assist on the fifth guy for the Ace and they surrender.

So what do you guys do when you play ADC and fall behind early?

to expand on that, you should never be sitting at your lane waiting for farm when you are behind. if you're far enough behind where they beat you outright in 2v2 engagements its better to ask for a lane gank from your jungler (take longer to set up than ganks from the river but are usually more effective and harder to prevent) or to start taking double golems on blue side or wolves on purple side. it can be hard to get your whole team on board but doing a quick four man gank on top or bot and maybe taking a tower from it can be really damaging to the enemy teams moral. in general, if the enemy team is ahead in cs and is getting more ahead in cs you want to scare them enough to start grouping then try to farm up individually and just engage smartly. sometimes you'll never catch back up to your lane opponent but if you can make the situation 2 items vs 3 items instead of 2 v 4 you have a much better chance to outplay.

Rengar looks like my champ. He's a spam-a-holic (no mana!). He has a good AA steroid, and ranged slow/root. I really like his style, being a great ambusher, and he looks like he could work bot lane, as an AD carry as well.

Xin Zhao is IMO the strongest champion I've ever used, and that includes Shen/Malphite/Alistar/Jax/Zyra/Morgana. In just my second game, I finished 26/4/14 including a 9/0/4 start. Got fed early (the opposing team's Pantheon kept trying to jump me from a bush even though I had my wriggle's ward in there for pretty much the entire laning phase) and won my lane hard only having to go back twice. In the last teamfight I literally jumped right into a 1v5, ulted away the other members and bursted down Caitlyn, walked right out as the rest of my team came, turned around and assasinated Miss Fortune, and finished off by outdueling Pantheon for a triple kill :D. I also egged Anivia so I'm just gonna count that as as my second ever quadra kill :).

Double Vamp Scepter Xin Zhao on first buyback OP.

protip xin IS and always HAS been a pubstomper at mid to low elos. riot hates balancing pubstompers because if they make them better for competitive play the stomp low elos harder usually.

Agreed. Eve's situation is similar. Their evelynn buff interests me, because her stealth is almost useless verses high level players, and the bushes become depended on. The stealth works well verses lower levels, as I know people who don't watch their champ when moving through the field (For example: watching a teamfight). Evelynn has more power, making her powerful in competitive play, however her stealth is only very useful in lower elos (under ~800).

what do you usually get as first item on the croc

i usually alternate between phage/brut/wriggles

but i cant rly decide which one is the outright best

Get Wriggles first, it gives you amazing lane sustain and shits on anyone AD solo top who doesn't build one.

Also, free wards. Save yourself some gold.

because there isnt one thats outright best.

wriggles when you are against a lane that can harass well and you need the sustain or hard lanes in general.

brut when you feel like you can snowball.

phage when you need general health (phage hexdrinker combo strong against ap lanes) or against certain bursty champs, particularly melee ones, where you want to out trade their burst with autos.

i generally go wriggles if i'm losing against an AD lane

brutalizer if i'm winning early and i want to push my advantage against a champion that doesn't build tanky early (riven is a prime example)

phage if i'm doing well or normally, especially against a naturally tanky character

hexdrinker vs AP

I bought Ezreal last night, and he's ridiculously fun to play. What do you build for AD though? I've been going Trinity Force -> Bloodthirster -> Last Whisper -> Infinity Edge, which seems to work pretty well, but are there any better options?

You can switch the order of your 3rd and 4th item depending on enemy armor amounts, and you should get a GA or QSS somewhere between the start and finish of your third item. You could probably also go phage->BT->tforce if their team is realitively kiteable, relying on the phage procs and arcane shift to maintain distance. That build is probably stronger in longer engagments around dragon or blue buff.

That's fine, but I would say that you should build IE before LW in most cases. You can also consider whether or not you want to build BT or Tri force first, but like I said those items are generally good for ezreal.

I only go one build with my AD carries nowadays

Boots - 3
double doran
Pick - Vamp Scept
Blood Thirster
Last Whisper
Phantom
Guardian
IE

yes agreed with the above

IE best damage item in game

i only rush BT on vayne and even then people are starting to go IE first on her

I don't disagree that IE is an excellent item but I personally hate building BT late-game. The full 100 AD and 20 Life Steal is great for Early-Mid where outlasting the fight is crucial. As I see it an early Last Whisper is like a Death Cap for ranged AD. The 46% Armor Pen cuts their defense into almost half. At that point in the game bruisers and tanks are between 100-150 defense. So averaging this 125 or after pen ~ 60 Armor or ~30% damage increase.

Some of my numbers may be exaggerated.. maybe not.
