5th Gen PRNG Help / Info - Latest: RNG Reporter 9.96.5, PPRNG 1.15.0

I've tried to make my Durant hatch shiny in my Black 2 game (rng'd in White 1), but it hatched normally with the right nature and IVs. I changed my White 1 SID/ID to match my Black 2, and it spat out 6AAE76330BDCC516 which was supposed to give me the PID EC995500, but gave me this Durant instead. I double checked with my normal W1 ID in the main window afterwards; it didn't come up shiny and gave me the PID of my current Durant. What do I have to do to make an egg shiny on another save?

EDIT: I've done this before, so is this just a bug?
Did you use international parents? If so, you can't do that, since the PID rerolls are against the ID/SID of the game you RNG'd it on.
What are competitive players going to do without the ability to RNG eggs? Will there ever be a way to RNG eggs in the future?
It'll only be a problem for people who are just now getting into the games, since everyone else can use BW1 for breeding, and will almost certainly be fixed in the next set of games as well, so it's only temporary. A way to work around it may come up in the meantime, but it'd be a lot of work to figure out and program for not much reward.

Hi all, first time RNGer, and I'm having some trouble with the natures.

Working with a 3DS and Black 2. 2 Chatots on my team, but no synchronize.

I've done the calibration, and getting a pretty consistent Timer0. Think I'm hitting the seeds as well, as I pretty consistently get a Pokemon with the correct IVs, but the issue is that the natures are seemingly random, and sometimes even the Pokemon is of the wrong kind (despite having the right IV).

Guess I have a few clarifications:
1. Every time we hear the Chatot's chatter, we advance 1 frame? So that means the first instance where I load up the game and enter the summary page for Chatot, it has already gone forward by 1?
2. I'm unsure about the Roaming Release checkbox.. in Black 2, are there trickster trio considered roamers still?
3. How far away from NPCs should I be to be safe? I was trying to get a Staryu near Route 13, though despite there not being NPCs on screen, i see in the previous post that they can still affect the frames.

Any help would be appreciated!

1. Yes. Hearing Chatot's chatter advances the PIDRNG frame by 1. So for example if your target frame is 60, you need to stop when you hear Chatot's frame 59 Chatter pitch.
2. There are no roamers in BW2, you can leave it unchecked.
3. You need to be in a completely different route for wandering NPCs to not affect you. If the NPCs are in the same route as you, they affect you, no matter if they are onscreen or off screen.

Thanks for the response! Guess my problem was probably where I was catching the Pokemon. So if a Pokemon like Staryu only appears in routes/cities that seem to have wandering NPCs, there's really no way to RNG it?

There is, but there's a margin of luck involved. If you're using sweet scent you can avoid the wandering NPC problem altogether, as you can do your Chatot advances and then use Sweet Scent. Take into account your initial frame is going to be very off, as wandering NPCs are going to advance your PIDRNG frame quite a bit before you can open the menu; this is where listening to Chatot pitches helps out significantly in identifying what frame you are actually on.

If you're trying to RNG a stationary legendary like Terrakion or Azelf where wandering NPCs are going to be a problem, then you will need to do your advances, close the menu and talk to the legendary as quickly as possible. With luck, you can talk to the legendaries fast enough that the NPCs don't have time to advance your frame any further.
Do we actually need to hear the Chatot pitches to advance the frame or can we just flip through them rapidly?
You can flip through them rapidly, though listening to the pitch is a good way to verify your current frame and whether you actually hit your Timer0.

I'm trying to RNG in Hidden Grottos in Black 2 and maybe I'm not getting it or something is just messing with me....

1) I'm RNGing a Garbordor (Slot 1, Subslot 2,3, Gender F, Gender Ratio 30)
2) It's in Route 9, and the only unoccupied slots before that location are: Route 6(field) and Route 6(cave), which makes Route 9 Grotto Number 2.
3) In the main RNGReporter window, I input Encounter Type as "Hidden Grotto", Method: Gen 5 PIDRNG, and the TRUE gender spread (50% F, 50% M).
4) I set the time in my DSoriginal to a desired time from time finder.
5) To verify my seed, I listen to chatot pitches (I know that at this point I don't have to advance the PID frame - I just need to know if I hit my seed)
6) I walk 256 (well a little more than that but I don't think that should matter as long as at least 256 steps are made). I exit the grotto and reenter.

...but I don't find any pokemon. Any thoughts?

edit: just to be clear, i'm saving in the unoccupied hidden grotto prior to step 4

Grotto generation is dictated by the PIDRNG. If you're advancing frames before you walk you won't get the result.

Ah so the only way I can check to see if I hit my Timer0 is if I walk first, exit, then reenter?

edit: so I rechecked the two grottos before Route 9 that I thought were unoccupied and they had hidden mulch.
EDIT: ok got the garbodor. thanks for the tip Hozu. also that damned hidden mulch...turns out Route 9 also had it...

Once you have a target seed, determine how many advances you need to hit that target frame by using the Calculate Initial PIDRNG button.

I can't find such a button? Kind of stuck, any help is appreciated.

is it possible to rng bw2 wondercards in the first pokecenter with wnpc's if i mash x to open the menu before the frames fluctuate too much, like bw1 egg rng? getting annoyed with continually playing through to castelia for a new genesect.

Mod edit: Don't bother trading here with a hacked ID.

I would like to know how or why setting your Trainer ID/Secret ID to the same values as on your previous games would be an issue? This has zero impact on actual game play. Your Pokemon are not illegal. I do not change my ID values in order to get specific results. Instead, its just nice to have a play through save that every thing you captured thinks you are the original Trainer (which in this case I am.)

Still, I need to know how this may or may not negatively impact my attending VCG events because its easy enough to restart my save file.

Using an AR to get an ID/SID would fall under that definition.

This really isn't the place to discuss it anyways. Besides, why use an AR to do something that can be done through RNG abuse?

In the main window (i.e. the one that says RNGReporter 9.96.4 BETA), look to the far right set of buttons.

Only buttons I can see on there are the ones to change the Nature, Ability, Encounter Slot, & Gender. And then of course the 'DS Parameters Search' button.

You need to have your method set to "Gen 5 PIDRNG" or any other method which uses the PIDRNG to see the "Calculate Initial PIDRNG Frame" button.

Hope this helps :)

Yes I finally figured it out lol

On another note once you calculate your starting frame if it comes out to be the same as your target frame do you just encounter said Pokemon without any frame advancements? Also will the starting frame ALWAYS be lower than your target frame? I've been having the hardest time trying to figure out what frame I'm actually hitting when I DON'T hit my target frame as well. Hopefully someone can help :)

Yes. I've done all of my wondercard RNG's there (successfully).

Speaking from B/W experience, yes, if your initial frame is the same as your target frame then you just encounter the pokemon without any advances. This isn't great though, because you're stuck without a way to verify your seed.
You should always aim for seeds that have a starting frame lower than the target frame, but of course depending on what frame you're aiming for sometimes the target will be below the starting frame. If that's the case then you can't hit that frame, so only use target frames that are higher than that seed's starting frame.
