I am currently doing a Pokemon Y wonder locke, and I obtained a pawniard through wondertrade. He had this moveset:

-Psycho Cut
-Revenge
-Scratch
-Stealth Rock

He now wants to learn Fury Cutter. What should I replace for fury cutter? Should I not make him learn it at all?

It depends on what you want to use it for.

I'm currently working on getting a Clefairy in a Luxury Ball (makes breeding it so much easier) and it made me wonder something: if I were to catch a female Pokémon in a Friend Ball (the captured Pokémon starts with 200 Friendship) in HGSS, transfer it all the way to Generation VI and breed, would the offspring have 200 Friendship or the base amount for their species?

@ above

I don't think it is relevant because you can not obtain friend ball in G6 without hacking and no pokemon from G4 can keep its original ball due to the Pal Park or w/e forcing you to use the Park Ball.

Fury Cutter is okay and can definitely replace scratch.

=-= Where on these forums would I go to ask if someone has a spare Mew code for a US game? My gamestop is out. (hope this is the right place).

Base amount.

Probably in the Wifi Simple Questions/Simple requests forum... I'm not sure why people have been having issues in the US. I went into my UK GAME store and picked up 3 codes no problem.

I am going to use a Timid Latias for the Emerald Version Battle Palace (alongside Choice Band Heracross and Curse Snorlax).

What move would be more useful in the last slot:
- Calm Mind
- Thunderbolt
- Recover
- Dragon Claw or Ice Beam

On the one hand, there is STAB resisted by only Steel, and a way to deal with Altaria and ChestoRest Kingdra quickly. On the other hand, IB has better all around coverage.

Why not both? Because...

In the Battle Palace you have no control over your pokemon, they attack semi-randomly based on nature. For Timid they prefer "Attacks" until their HP drops to below 50%, when they switch to preferring support moves. For both cases, defensive moves (Recover and Calm Mind) are the least likely to be selected. So in essence they are just dead spots on your moveset.

I'd either run this:
-Dragon Claw
-Ice Beam
-Thunderbolt
-Toxic

You get boltbeam, and a more reliable attack. Toxic is so Latios doesn't waste turns when it's HP drops.

Or this:
-Dragon Claw
-Surf
-Recover
-Toxic

Perfect neutral coverage, and now no matter how unlucky you get at least Latios will do SOMETHING. Recover will likely never pop up, but just in case that 10% and 20% chance works against you.

In both cases, Dragon Claw is better than Ice Beam because even if your pokemon chooses an "attack" move, the move picked will be at random. So it's harder to get your pokemon to fight smart exploiting weaknesses and instead it's safer to just stick to STAB's (in fact, you might want to drop Surf for Psychic on that second set).

Not quite sure whether or not this question should go here, but I'm doing a randomizer, my starter yamask came with Judgement, what would the best typing be for the move?

Thanks, that sounds pretty good. I am going with the second set, keeping Surf. Slap a Sould Dew on that thing, and it should be good to go.

Also, quick correction, I'm using Latias instead. Not as strong, but it can take more hits, thus more room for error. I imagine I'd be just fine with either one, but I picked the bulkier dragon.

Uh, Soul Dew is banned in the Battle Frontier. You can equip it, but it's effects are nullified. It would be like no item at all.

I wouldn't have known, I've been doing a blind run of the frontier so far, didn't check that online. I don't think the game mentions it either.

Thanks

Which game are you playing? I would probably go for Fighting or Water to start with unless you don't have those options. They are probably the best all round types for early game until you get some other coverage moves.

This is wrong. The Park Ball does not become the Pokemon's new ball, as soon as it's in a fifth gen game it shows the original ball, and keeps it until in a gen VI game.

The wi-fi forum's simple request thread.

All those moves are useless in-game. Stealth Rock and Scratch are the most useless though so replace either of them.

just got a code for the promotional Mew, is it possible to soft reset for it? I've never done it before and I'm not sure if it is even worth it for the mew since is not allowed in many competitions.

Yes, it is indeed possible. Though do note that using Synchronize for a certain ability won't work (I know it wasn't included in your question but it's a common confusion a lot of people have.)

Can someone point me to a thread like the Z one, but discussing X and Y? I want to read what everyone's reaction was like back then, since it was before I joined Smogon. Can't find it by search function.

When I bring Tornadus and Thundurus with me to make Landorus appear in OR/AS, do those Tornadus and Thundurus have to be from OR/AS, or can they be from B/W?

Thanks Kurona. Another question:

I'm trying to catch a female Calm HA Clefairy to breed. I have a fainted Abra (Synchronize) in 1st, a fainted male Skitty (Cute Charm) in 2nd, and a healthy Haxorus (False Swipe) in 3rd. Synchronize DOES take affect in this situation, correct? Does Cute Charm work too since my other lead is fainted, or not?

Either Synchronize isn't working or I'm getting incredibly unlucky with the natures - I've gotten about 8 or so HA female Clefairy so far, none of which are Calm (one was shiny though :D).

EDIT: Does my Syncher need to be at the lead of my party when Clefairy first pops out, or only when I actually initiate the battle?

Synchronize does work if the lead with it is fainted, yes; you're just getting bad luck.
When you initiate the battle.
I'm afraid Cute Charm unfortunately won't work; only the lead's ability takes effect.

Greetings dear Smogon community,

A while ago I remembered the early X&Y times, back when Bad Eggs were circulating around on Wonder Trade, corrupting the save files of unsuspecting players who received them.
My question now is, with all the new methods of Powersaves and PKHex having appeared on the scene since then, do you think that these things still exist in current ΩRαS times?
For example, could one of these Bad Eggs or a manipulated Pokémon that I got from the GTS possibly corrupt my save file?
Or has this been rendered impossible via patches by now? What's the current status of the situation?

Thank you very much in advance for the replies.

Best greetings.

Hacked Pokemon cannot corrupt your save file no matter how badly they are, especially if it is PKhex or PowerSave (which just edits the existing data). Bad Egg has been patched as far as I know.
