5th Gen PRNG Help / Info - Latest: RNG Reporter 9.96.5, PPRNG 1.15.0

Does anyone have any suggestions for RNGing a Drilbur/Excadrill? Is there any way other than trial and error to figure out when a dust cloud will appear, and when it will contain Drilbur/Excadrill instead of a gem? Do you have to take the same path every time while advancing your frame or it might not appear (my friend got the dust cloud once while advancing his frame, and one time didn't... he took different paths, both times on the same seed).

With me, it was trial and error. It isn't so bad, since Pokémon in dust clouds aren't that rare. Take a synchronizer, of course.
You need to take exactly the same path every time, since turning also advances the PIDRNG.

I read somewhere a dust cloud takes about 320 steps to appear, so choose a frame that will make you need to take at least 512 steps.

Thanks. He got it to appear in less than 100 steps, so the whole ~320 steps thing can't be right.

Hello, I have done a bit of RNG abuse but I am having a problem capturing a specific Pokemon in Chargestone cave.

I am trying to catch a shiny Tynamo (Encounter Slot 10) with a Careful nature (not sync'd) and a spread of 31/31/31/13/31/31
I am saved and working on BF1 (nugget brothers floor) of the cave so there are no Wandering NPCs.

I am using RNGReporter 9.81 Beta

I am using standard seed method

My seed is E208CD910AC1AE60

My IV Frame is 56 (which I used to verify my seed)

My PID Frame is 3152 (shiny)

I have my steps down to a routine;

I walk back and fourth 25 steps on the southern part of the floor I take 1409 steps, advancing my IV frame to 56. I get my IV spread and my PID has advanced (with 1409 steps and 56 turns) by 2930.

RNGReporter puts the starting frame at 47 which would put me at 2977

So I did 175 Chatters and I got a Lv 25 Ferroseed (Slot 4) female, Modest natured that might be frame 3172 (20 more than my desired frame) with the correct IVs.

I try advancing it by 155 and got a Klink Lv 27 (Slot 9) Quirky with Ability 0 (Plus) which the nearest match in RNG is 3176. It had the correct IVs.

My C-gear is not on at any time.

I hope someone can help me figure out why the PID frames are so erratic. Thanks!

so I try advancing it by 155, instead but I don't get a Tynamo.

During the many times I have repeated this process step by step, I get dust clouds in different areas and different Pokemon, whos PID I cannot pinpoint within 100 or so frames of my desired frame. But all of them have the correct IV spread.

My C-gear is not on at any time.

I get temporary consistent wrong PID frames but they go away after I take a break for a few hours from RNGing.

I hope someone can help me figure out why the PID frames are so erratic. Thanks!
Honestly, I would search for a new seed with a much lower PID as in no larger than 400-500. You don't need to do any steps to make dust clouds appear since Tynamo is a regular encounter poke. Also, make sure the IVs frames are 1 for min and max so you'll only need to worry about the PID.

Are you maybe bumping against the walls?

Does anyone have the link to the big word guide that details ID/SID manipulation for B/W? It doesn't seem to be available for download from the first post and the on-site guide is pretty sketchy.

For Standard (non-C gear) Seeds, does the PID frame advance when walking/turning in an area with wild Pokemon while under the effects of Repel? And does it advance when the IV frame advances from taking 128 steps?

The first question, the PID will advance for every step you take when your in an area where wild Pokemon can be encountered. Even under repel.

I'm not sure if how it, or if for that matter, effects the IV frame though.

Do encounters with Pokémon in the Entralink's Entree Forest advance the RNG by approximately 120 frames per second (as battles do), or not (since they're technically not battles)?

I don't know if they do or not, but if you're looking to quickly advance the IV frame in Extralink, read this:
Little Entralink tidbit:

The act of talking to a Pokemon in the forest advances the IVRNG 26 frames. The IV generation is included in this, so a Pokemon effectively starts on frame 23 (which is RNG Reporter's frame 21). If you say no to encountering the Pokemon, the IVRNG advances will happen anyway. You can quickly and easily advance the IVRNG by talking to a Pokemon and refusing to encounter it.

For example --

First thing I do when enter the forest is talk to a Pokemon. If I catch it, it will have the IVs corresponding to RNG Reporter's frame 21.
If I say no, then talk to it again to capture it, it will have IVs corresponding to RNG Reporter's frame 47 (21 + 26).

And does it advance when the IV frame advances from taking 128 steps?

Yes, the IV Frame is always advanced when you walk 128 steps no matter the condition.

Edit: Sorry, I misunderstood the question. The PID frame advances by 1 every 17-20 steps Iirc. And that's not counting the advances from walking where there are wild pokemon.

Hi everyone, I just recently picked up Pokemon White again and decided to try RNGing, I did a little bit successfully in Diamond/Pearl but I don't have a ton of experience. I read all the guides here, and I'm a little confused about something, so I'm hoping someone can help me out or show me what I'm doing wrong.

My goal right now is to hatch a decent IV spread, adamant, shiny, dream world Dratini. I did all the prereq stuff, got a DW dratini mother and dratini father, calculated both of their IVs, put them in the daycare and saved in front of the old man, and found all of the necessary information (SID, MAC address etc). I'm using RNG Reporter 9.81, and to start I filled out the "5th Gen DS Parameters Setup" tab (under the Time Finder window). Then I went to the "4th/5th Gen Shiny Egg" tab, filled it out, started searching, and I find one seed. Here's a picture of the tab with the one seed (sorry if it's too big):

From here, I went back to the main screen and chose Breeding (BW) as Method (both parents are my own), copy/pasted the seed from the Time Finder, generated and hit calculate the initial frame. It then showed me a list of shinies, none of which were anywhere near the frame the Time Finder gave me. I unchecked that and looked for frame 166, and everything else matched (except the "species" part, but I have a question about that later). Here's a picture of that screen:

LwMlk.jpg

So, not really sure of anything I decided to test it out, and after a bunch of trial and error and getting the feel for things, I hit the seed and used Chatot to advance the frame... hit 164 once, then just now I managed to hit 166, got a female DW Dratini, adamant, with the exact IVs the Time Finder predicted, BUT it was not shiny, which the main screen predicted I suppose.

So my main question is, what exactly happened and what did I do to somehow get a non shiny out of the "Shiny Egg" finder? :/ For some reason do I need to keep generating seeds in the Time Finder until I find one that matches in the main Breeding screen that also says shiny, or did I just do something totally wrong?

Also as a side note, what is the purpose/meaning of the Species column? Is that just supposed to be disregarded?

Thanks in advance for any help, I feel like I'm close to learning enough to do something successfully in generation V! :)

So I'm trying to RNG the Dream Yard basement Musharna. I've found a non-Cgear seed with a nearby shiny frame.

My question is, how do I find other times for my target seed, as Musharna is only in the basement on Fridays? When I right click the result and select Generate More Times it opens the Seed to Time function where non Cgear seeds aren't supported, and it tells me the seed is invalid. I'm using RNG Reporter 9.81 beta.

Well you can save with Musharna right in front of, then attempt to hit your seed. I'm pretty sure Musharna will still be there.

Turn off your DS, change date to friday, and go downstairs and back up again. Musharna will be there then.

EDIT: Seed to Time only works for C-Gear and 4th gen abuse.

Can anyone help me? D: I tried looking for other seeds just now and copy/pasting them into the breeding section, and they don't show up as shiny under there either so I'm assuming if I went through the trouble to hit those seeds they wouldn't work either.

I feel like I'm missing something. :/

You're not missing anything, it's a known bug in RNG Reporter's 5th gen shiny egg finder.

To fix it, just enter the correct ID/SID combo in the main window of RNG Reporter, close RNG Reporter, and open it again. Then the time finder should work correctly! =]

OH! Well that's good to hear, thank you very much, I'll try that. :)

Post here if it doesn't work, but it should. :)

Will do, but it will probably take me awhile, I'm still getting the feel for how it all works. I think I mistimed the clock half the time when I was doing this earlier and whatnot. :p

Edit: I can already it worked actually, just found a new seed, copied it into the main screen and sure enough, shiny on frame 154 now. :) Thanks again!
