No, the male parent should have the egg move... Are you breeding in a 5th gen game? Because Seedot doesn't get Beat Up in 4th gen.

Can someone name off some common Tailwind pokes? My experiance in competetive battling is reeeaally limited, so besides the Genies and whimsicott I have no idea what I should be looking for.

In my experience, Whimsicott and Tornadus are the most common Tailwinders, because they get priority on the move. Other fully evolved Gen V users of the move are Unfezant, Sigilyph, Swanna, Braviary and Mandibuzz.

Of those, I've seen a couple of Tailwind Mandibuzzes, and I once used a Sigilyph, though it didn't work out as well as I would have liked. I wouldn't be shocked to see Braviary running it, but I think it's a subpar choice.

The Vulture can set up TW too because it's so bulky.

*cough*the vulture's name is mandibuzz *cough**cough*

tailwind without priority is like Chuck Norris without roundhouse kicks, it takes away it's primary method of defense (and several awesome points)

you were basically spot on with whimsicott and tornadus

Out of all the vgc legal pokemon, which do you guys think is the best that can utilize a strong ice type attack?

You have a couple of options.. (actually, you are pretty limited)

Many Jellicents carry Ice Beam/Blizzard which is fairly effective. If you are looking for a ice move with STAB, you are limited. Your best bet would probably be Vanillish (who has access to priority ice shard as well). Scraggy, a fairly common VGC pokemon has access to Ice Punch which may fit better on your team.

Those are the only realistic options unless you find a way to implement Beartic or Cryogonal (perhaps find a way to use his amazing SpD?)

What I really want is a way to one hit ko pokemon like tornadus and whimsicott in order to stop them from getting tailwind up, but yea it seems like my options are limited. I would try to utilize Beartic or Cryogonal but it doesn't seem like they would be useful in other situations.

edit: And i just realized that tornadus and whimsicott both have priority so they would get it up anyway >_<

You'd need to find a way to deal with Prankster too.

Oh, hmm. Well if you really want to stop them from setting tailwind up you could run a taunting Whimiscott of your own. If you are looking for a way to take them out I'd probably recommend Archeops. Base 140 attack and 110 speed with STAB Acrobat and Rock Slide covers both Whimi and Tornadus (along with several other threats such as Terrakion, Amoongus, Conkeldurr, and Chandelure.)

Contrary to popular belief, Terrakion is not weak to flying-type attacks.

That being said, Archeops's 110 Acrobat, and Jolly Tornadus's Flight Jewel Acrobat can both 1HKO 4HP Terrakion.

Except most Terrakion's that I've seen use Focus Sash.

I am having a difficult time deciding between Hammer Arm and Drain Punch on my Conkeldurr. Essentially, I have been trying to do some math to determine if there are any critical OHKO's that Hammer Arm can deliver that Drain Punch cannot. The healing from Drain Punch would help a great deal in matchups vs. bulkier pokemon like Gigalith and Cobalion. Has anyone tried both out to see which fares better? I have mostly been trying Hammer Arm and have been unimpressed by the damage out even with Adamant before the Toxic Orb Guts boost.

Archeops's non-Flight Gem Acrobatics does not OHKO 4 HP Terrakion, and it's Flight Gem-boosted Acrobatics has an 80% chance to OHKO 4 HP Terrakion. Flight Gem-boosted Acrobatics from Tornadus does not OHKO 4 HP Terrakion.

Been seeing wonder launcher in use at some of the Australian events.
I know that they aren't using the official regulations, but was unable to find any proof on the vgc website that says that we won't be using wonder launcher.

Can anyone help me find proof? I'm a little blind

Where can I find the registration/tournament times for each age group? I know I've seen them before, either on here or on the official VGC site, but I can't seem to find it...

go to the pokemonvgc.com website, click on the events tab at the top, select your event, then look at the left side of the page that loads. On the left you will see the registration and tournament times for each age group.

Hm, I'm not seeing anything specific. Closest I could find was:

At the beginning of each turn, players will have 1 minute to select moves for both Pokémon, or change their Active Pokémon. If a player has not made his or her selections at the end of this period, the game will automatically make selections for the player.
The fact that it specifically says "select moves or change Pokemon" implies that Wonder Launcher is excluded. Couldn't find anything else, though. ;o

Here's a quick question. When using the move Fake Out on a Pokemon, if they carry a Lum Berry or a Mental Herb, do they shake off the flinching effect? I know that the Lum Berry shakes off status effects and the Mental Herb shakes off infatuation (Taunt), but what about flinching?

I believe there is only one thing that can shake off a Flinch and that is Inner Focus. However, Inner Focus doesn't stop the move entirely, the damage will still be done but the flinch effect will be negated. Also, I believe Lum Berry also cures confusion, correct me if I'm wrong.

Over personal preference, I would choose Drain Punch. Should you OHKO a Pokemon with Drain Punch such as A Vanilluxe for example or a Critical Hit on Hydreigon for an OHKO, you will gain an enormous amount of health back. Also, Hammer Arm is only needed if your running Trick Room. Also, Hammer Arm doesn't have perfect accuracy which can cause a miss on a crucial KO. Also, in 5th gen, the power of Drain Punch went from 60 to 75. Overall, I would go with Drain Punch :)
