Gen III Battle Frontier Discussion and Records

All right! First time posting here because i wanted to share my 53 streak in the Battle factory of emerald.
This has been done on an emulator, I used the battle format: Battle factory Open Lv

Im a pretty experienced player and have since a few months decided to play some emerald to see how high I can get in the battlefactory.
After an unbelievably good run in the battle factory, I wanted to post it here, however I was a bit held back by the thought that i had no proof of it. So i decided to stream my next runs in hope that i could also come on the leaderboard (and to break my own record).
I haven't made it as far as my old record but i am now at 49 wins and I thought, since I could get on the leaderboard, why not. Anyway, proof:
streak emerald.PNG
I've also streamed it on twitch if you want to see the full vods. (unfortunatly not the god run of 144)
Round 1-4: After an embarrassing loss at 21 wins I got a bit tilted and just sped through 28 fights. Round 1 was Swamperts kingdom, round 2 was a Slowkingdom and round 3, curse Skarmory swept the round and Noland without much issue.
Round 4: I had the dream team of Vaporeon, Alakazam and Blaziken. Vaporeon was a beast with acid armor and rest which potentially lets it win pretty much every physical matchup..... if it doesn't get critted. This Vaporeon was a bit unlucky and got critted a couple of times which resulted in a few frustrating battles. But in the end he managed to come through and win me the 4th round along with a newly swapped Snorlax.

Round 5-7:
Round 5: I got a really good Suicune set with calm mind, ice beam, surf and rest so half of the fights it was just Suicune soloing the fights with ocasionally help from Nidoqueen, Muk and a newly traded Espeon. I almost messed up in the first few fights to Hariama with counter but Suicune is just built different and saved my run.

Round 6: This interesting round started with me deciding which palm tree i wanted more in my team with Tauros and Moltres. Eventually it didn't matter since it got booted for a calm mind, fire blast, blizzard Blissey. The first 4 rounds were no problem. Tauros just clapped everything with double edge or eq and what was left of the opponent got swept by Blissey of Moltres. In the 5th fight however i came across Latias and a calm mind double team rest flamethrower Entei. That Entei was faster than my Tauros and since it was weakend it ko-ed it. Then I tried to get past the double teams with aerial ace Moltres but it was already set up a bit too much so it was up to Blissey to carry me though Entei's doubleteams, and calm minds. And despite the odds, Blissey critted her last fire blast and took Entei down. After that she swept the rest of the round.
Noland 2 was underwhelming with his Shiftry, Claydol and Suicune which was easy sweeps for Tauros and a weird Latios set.

Round 7: This was pretty tame mostly with coverage Lapras lead and curse amnesia metal claw Registeel. There was a moment where a Quagsire threatened to end my run but I managed to manifest a lucky crit from gardevoir that saved my run.

Right now I'm on a 49 winstreak but i'm going to update this as soon as the run is finished or I got a higher streak. I don't know if i have to do anything more to get my record in the main page but if someone knows, let me know :)

Update: lost at 53 with a team of Blissey, Espeon and Starmie due to me loving setup mons and getting punished by snorlax shadow ball crit <:^)

Better luck next time

Hello everyone, I have not posted on Smogon in years & I am new here! I'm here to share my Lv.50 Tower Streak of 105 on Retail Emerald.

I have been RNGing for over a year now and recently put my sights on the Gold shield for my Secret Base. My highest prior streak was 72--I just couldn't ever outlive Tower hax long enough or perhaps I just had bad teams. I've been reading this thread for some time now for tips & tricks, and with all of your insight I threw together a unique take on Water/Normal/Dragon, a team style which I see achieving success quite often here. BUT instead of boring ol' Rest Suicune I opted for an offensively oriented lead Suicune with a Salac Berry. I filled the other two spots with Curse Snorlax and Choice Band Salamence. Details below!

I know what you are probably thinking: what makes Salac Suicune worth using over standard Suicune?
(1.) Ice Beam has a slew of utility in allowing you to outright OHKO opposing Salamence and gives you an actual chance to defeat Thunderbolt Latias sets in combination with the Salac Berry.
(2.) Modest Suicune is much more powerful after Calm Mind, it hits a nice speed tier while mainting bulk, and it can easily 3-0 teams with very few CMs. Below are some calcs to show its power.
  • +2 140+ SpA Suicune Surf vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Snorlax: 117-138 (49.7 - 58.7%)
  • +2 140+ SpA Suicune Surf vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Snorlax: 117-138 (43.8 - 51.6%)
  • +3 140+ SpA Suicune Surf vs. 170 HP / 170 SpD Snorlax: 124-147 (48.4 - 57.4%) -- 94.1% chance to 2HKO
  • +6 140+ SpA Suicune Surf vs. 0 HP / 255 SpD Blissey: 161-190 (48.7 - 57.5%) -- 96.1% chance to 2HKO
(3.) Still has the utility of stalling out opposing Water types, even without the Leftovers... except your set up is actually rewarding and almost impossible to revenge kill via outspeeding.
(4.) Something else gets to hold Leftovers! Yippee!
EVs breakdown: The HP EVs hit 204 HP to be proactive against Seismic Toss and Night Shade. The Speed EVs allow Suicune to outspeed 122 speed Pokemon such as Jolly Metagross and hits 183 Speed after the Salac Berry boost--this is only outpaced by max Speed Jolteon.

1718362970677.png
1718362991931.png

Choice Band Salamence: what's not there to love? It's like sending out a Pokemon that has already Dragon Danced. Salamence and Suicune have excellent type coverage together, and Salamence provides the added utility of its ability Intimidate and a Ground immunity. There are quite a few powerful physical threats such as Cross Choppers that Suicune would just rather not set up on, and this is where Salamence comes handy with its delete buttons. There is no reason to use anything other than max Atk+/max Spe and you are pigeon brained if you even consider using Jolly nature.

1718363427539.png
1718363451280.png

This is a difficult Snorlax set to build around normally. It requires the use of Leftovers, which most would give to their Water type instead. Now that we've fitted our Water type as a sweeper instead, Snorlax gets his freedom to Curse, eat, and Rest all day just like any average 21st century American! Snorlax works here because the team needed a utility defensive Pokemon that I could send out against a vast variety of opponents, especially special attackers. The EVs are balanced between Defense and Sp.Def--if you can calc up a better spread, by all means please do. I use the Immunity ability but I can see the reasons why Thick Fat would be useful too.
1718366117028.png
1718366083363.png
1718366132357.png

THERE IS NO NORMAL RESIST and it will hurt sometimes. The good thing is none of them can deal severe damage to Suicune without severe drawbacks as well. Depending which one you're dealing with, these can be managed with set scouting, leveraging the Salac Berry, and Salamence's powerful attacks.

1718366211750.png

Ironically opposing Suicune can do a number. At absolute worst you can PP stall these out of their attacks and then pivot into a Curse sweep.

1718366385896.png
1718366405396.png

CM variants of these are the worst. Not having an actual resist to these two types means Snorlax is fingers crossed the entire match to never see a crit.
  1. Lead with Salamence on Anabel Gold rounds (252+ Atk Choice Band Salamence Earthquake vs. 158 HP / 252 Def Raikou: 183-216 (98.9 - 116.7%) -- 93.8% chance to OHKO)
  2. You can discover a lot about opposing Water types based on their first click. I normally always start off with Substitute and proceed from there. Most of the time you will be able to +6 +6 in front of them while they struggle to break your subs.
  3. Never get greedy with Snorlax. Again, he is prone to crits so I suggest you play him risk adverse and heal up as often as possible.

Final thoughts: We'll see how far this goes, I hope to see a Cocaine Bear next ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)⚔︎

Hi, factory player here with a 105 in Open Level Doubles for Battle Factory.

Reporting a final streak of 61 in the Open Level Battle Factory on emulator.

1720713946550.png

This was such a grind. I've been playing Open Level Factory for almost a month now, and I'm not very good. I'd never even obtained the gold symbol. In my ~4 weeks of grinding Factory, I lost on fight #41 twice and lost to Nolan Gold twice, with the first time being swept by his lead Misdreavous. Each loss was crushing, especially after putting so much time and mental energy into calculating moves and strategizing, only to have to start all over. But that all changed today :)

I want to start with the Nolan Gold fight because that was insane. Saved it on my Battle Record:

My Team:
1720714836156.png

Lanturn-2 (21 IVs)
  • Flail
  • Endure
  • Thunderbolt
  • Surf

1720714856782.png

Blissey-1 (31 IVs)
  • Toxic
  • Double Team
  • Sing
  • Soft-Boiled

1720714152401.png

Regice-3 (3 IVs)
  • Ice Beam
  • Thunderbolt
  • Thunder Wave
  • Explosion

Nolan's Team:
1720714198434.png

Armaldo-2 (Quick Claw)
  • Iron Tail
  • Ancient Power
  • Brick Break
  • Knock Off

1720714788959.png

Vaporeon -1, 2, or 4 (???)
Couldn't be -3 because of Armaldo having Quick Claw.
Only used Surf, so I'm unsure of the other moves
Don't think it's -4 because it didn't Rest, but I'm not sure if that's provable or not.
  • Surf
  • ???
  • ???
  • ???

1720714814082.png

Dragonite-3 (Leftovers)
  • Hyper Beam
  • Attract
  • Double Team
  • Thunder Wave

Ok, here we go. Lanturn-2 was not guaranteed to kill any Armaldo with Surf (90.4 - 106.7%), and I knew that if it was Armaldo-3 or -4 with EQ, it would OHKO my Lanturn. I didn't want to risk a low roll Surf, so I swapped into Blissey-1 to scout the moveset. Armaldo used Ancient Power and Brick Break, so I knew it was Armaldo-2 and didn't have to worry about EQ. Blissey-1 carries Bright Powder, so my plan was to spam Soft-Boiled until I got a miss, and then set up with Toxic/Double Team/Soft-Boiled. Armaldo landed about 4 hits in a row, then hit a Brick Break, and then quick-clawed another Brick Break to KO my Blissey (first QC roll, so I had no idea that was a possibility), so my plan backfired in tragic fashion.

Lanturn-2 came back out. I knew Armaldo couldn't OHKO me, so I Surfed twice to get the KO. Next up was Vaporeon. As I wrote above, I was really unsure which one it was since it only used Surf here (not that it really matters). The plan was to Thunderbolt it down for a KO; Vaporeon got my Lanturn down to 20 HP with Surf to activate my Salac Berry speed boost, which gave me the speed boost to finally KO it before it KO'd me.

Last up was Dragonite. I had no clue which one it could be, other than ruling out -9 and -10 due to Quick Claw item clause. I knew later it was Dragonite-3, but of course in the beginning, I had no idea. I had the speed advantage due to my Salac Berry boost, so I thought to chip it down with Thunderbolt and leave the rest in the hands of my Regice. What followed next was some crazy RNG:

Lanturn: Thunderbolt hit
Dragonite: Double Team
Lanturn: Thunderbolt hit (75% chance due to DT)
Dragonite: Hyper Beam MISS (10% chance to miss)
Lanturn: Thunderbolt hit again (75% chance due to DT) + Paralysis (10% chance)
Dragonite: Hyper Beam
MISS again (10% chance to miss)
Lanturn: Thunderbolt hit again (75% chance due to DT) for the KO!

Multiplying these probabilities together:

0.75×0.10×0.75×0.10×0.10×0.75 = 0.000422 or 1 in 2,370!

Not the craziest RNG in the world, but for someone who's been tormented by terrible Factory RNG, this felt so nice.

Even if Dragonite had KO'd Lanturn, I still had Regice in the back that would've done the job with Ice Beam, barring any Double Team miss shenanigans.

So that wasn't even the record fight that I'm posting about, but it was so hype and such a good feeling to finally get that Gold symbol :) My last Gold to complete the Frontier as well.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now moving on to my actual record of 61. My team at this point in the run was Blaziken-3, Starmie-8, Latios-3. I really had no pressure or stress on me because I was just happy to win the gold symbol, so everything after was just gravy.

First off, I had no idea how OP Blaziken-3 is with the Endure -> Salac Berry -> Reversal sweeps that got me out of trouble.

Anyways, onto fight #62. I can't recall who the first mon was, but it was swiftly taken care of with my Blaziken. Although the following sequence of events was harrowing.

I had my Blaziken-3 out against their Gardevoir. I knew a Psychic would KO me, and I didn't want to pull out the Endure/Salac/Reversal card just yet because I knew that even Reversal at 1 HP was not guaranteed to KO all Gards, so I swapped into Starmie which ate the Psychic that I predicted. Maybe I fumbled here, but I knew I couldn't KO with Starmie, so I chose to Cosmic Power to eat another hit and bulk up before choosing Recover, but Factory RNG came back at me with a vengeance. Gardevoir attacked with Thunderbolt, and it was a crit... Starmie KO'd. Blaziken-3 is back out. I knew a Psychic was coming so I Endured and got my berry speed boost at 1 HP.

Now, there are two Gardevoir possibilities for Psychic + Thunderbolt. Gardevoir-4 and Gardevoir-6. Gardevoir-4 is a guaranteed OHKO with Reversal, but Gardevoir-6 is not (81.7 - 96.4%) due to its 255 EVs in HP. As luck would have it, it turned out to be -6 because my Reversal did not KO. Down to my last mon, Latios.

Latios-3 with 3 IVs is outsped by Gard-6, but it can easily tank Psychic/Thunderbolt and KO Gard with any move due to it being at very low HP. But as luck would have it, Gard-6 chose Destiny Bond, and my heart sank as my Latios went in for the Dragon Claw and got taken down by D-bond. Run over.

Honestly, I am just happy I got the Gold symbol, and anything else was just a bonus. Ended up having a much higher streak than I ever thought possible. Factory was such a tough challenge, and I really can't believe such fun and depth is still in a vanilla Pokemon game that I played almost 20 years ago as a kid. Shout out to LRXC for the inspiration to give Frontier and Factory another go. So much time was "wasted", but it was so much fun. Cheers!

The front lines of Pokemon battling!

Join us on the Battle Facilities Discord server!
Battle Facility threads: Gen II Tower | Gen IV Frontier | Battle Subway | Battle Maison | Battle Tree | SwSh Facilities | BDSP Tower

Things to keep in mind:
  • Regular Smogon and Orange Islands forum rules apply.

  • Feel free to discuss anything about the teams and strategies you use, the enemy Pokemon and movesets you encounter, and your streak successes and failures. Theory-moning is encouraged as well. Free form discussion is really helpful, so don't be shy, even if you're posting about a very early loss or a poorly optimized team.

  • Please do not make claims about AI "cheating", be it through influencing probability (100% accurate Sheer Colds) or coded counter-teaming. I would like to discourage fan theories like this (mystic's %C) or any unhelpful discussion that makes claims about the AI cheating against you.

  • Reliable information on how the AI plays is most appreciated. If you find any useful information like any new mechanic, any kind of AI behavior, please let us know! Any kind of contribution, no matter how big or small is always helpful.

  • Don't cheat (this includes save stating or restoring save files to avoid losses). Streaks using hacked or genned Pokemon will not be leaderboard eligible.

  • This is not a court of law. I reserve myself the right to reject sufficiently dubious streaks even without absolute proof of cheating. The various facility threads rely on a system of trust. As such, I ask that you don't give into any temptations you may have to cheat just to get on a leaderboard.

  • Due to the hardware limitations of Gen 3, I will be allowing the use of these glitches only applicable for the following scenarios. For more information on the glitches that are allowed and not allowed, you can check this post. I also reserve myself the right to disallow the use of any glitch not listed in here that I feel it gives an unfair advantage to any player.

    • Allowed examples of Pomeg Glitching:
      • Glitching breedable parents (The parent itself will not be allowed due to illegal met data).
      • Reaching Southern Island and other event places.
      • PID corruption to obtain trade evolution Pokemon (you must be sure that the PID will be corrupted back into its previous data after evolving)
    • Allowed examples of Pike glitching:
      • Sketching legal egg move combinations (No Drill Peck + Whirlwind Skarmory)
      • Recover a deleted purify move. Your Pokemon must be a legal Pokemon obtained from Pokemon XD Gale of Darkness.
      • Level-up moves that can be passed down as egg-moves (Such as Megahorn on Heracross).
      • Repeated use of tutor moves locked behind single use per save (Such as Substitute or Double Edge)
      • Recover or teach forgotten pre-evolution or level-up moves (Sketching moves that are locked after Level 50, are disallowed for Level 50 Mode streaks).
    • Allowed exampled of Roamer Glitching in RS:
      • Obtaining a roamer Latios with higher IVs on Ruby/Sapphire. Any other Pokemon will not be allowed.
    [*][*][*][*]

Leaderboard Requirements:
  • All records require a screenshot or picture of your in-game Battle Results and all users are required to obligatory disclaim the facility that was challenged, the level it was challenged for (Lv. 50 or Open Level) and whether the streak was done on retail or emulator.

  • Records on emulators are eligible as well as any Pokemon obtained from an emulator. Records on retail and emulator will be marked differently so that other interested parties wanting to replicate a leaderboard team can recognize the differences at which each team can be played. Due to how easy it is to cheat streaks on emulator, having concrete proof such as recorded videos or detailed write-ups is heavily encouraged. I reserve myself the right to ask for any additional recorded footage if I do not trust your streak enough in order to add it as leaderboard material.

  • Streaks must be done on legitimate copies of the game. Emulator streaks must be done on unedited ROMs without any patches. Bootlegs, ROM-hacks or fan-translations will not be allowed.

  • The following minimum win streak requirements have been set to qualify for inclusion of any NEW streak submitted:
    • Battle Tower: 70 wins
    • Battle Arena: 56 wins
    • Battle Factory: 42 wins
    • Battle Palace: 42 wins
    • Battle Dome: 10 tournaments (40 rounds)
    • Battle Pike: 10 passes through (70 rounds)
    • Battle Pyramid: 10 rounds (70 floors)

If you have any suggestions, please let me know. Best of luck to everyone!

I have a question regarding glitches;

I have a reproduction cartridge that contains the ROM that distributes Eon Ticket for PkMn Emerald Version (I want to catch Latios).

On top of that, the frames for meeting a specific Pokémon never changes no matter how many times you soft or hard reset the game due to the seed always being 0.
In other words is RNG manipulation allowed for this Latios?

And, if the Battle Tower cloning glitch is used only for duplicating Rare Candies and TMs, are any of these three scenarios concidered cheating and therefore disqualify my Battle Frontier records?

Battle Factory Open Level 69 Streak (done on emulator)
1721016270859.png

vods for the streak: https://www.youtube.com/live/CzcnyIgIJQ0?si=Xp3hbWaytR3MkyBc
https://www.youtube.com/live/FTJrXSTGynQ?si=cHtVYlGlsrQ9yIMe

This is the best streak I've got after I started learning and playing the Battle Factory 2 weeks ago. Fell in love with the concept after looking for guides and stumbling upon LRXC's channel. I was also looking for a new game to grind out before I start college again since my love for minecraft speedrunning had burned out. I plan to play this till I can't handle Walrein's Quick Claw Sheer Cold shenanigans or I get World Record.

Rounds1-4: Rounds 1-4 are what I like to call the Purgatory of the factory. The mindless A spamming and speedup with the same strats as always, lead with a broken water like Kingdra, Vaporeon, Milo, etc. Have a good backup mon like Tauros or Metagross and just swap for whatever makes sense.

Round 5: Round 5 begins with No Type, No Phrase and a Normal heavy draft of Clefable-1, Jolteon-4, Blissey-4, Xatu-1, Ursaring-1, and Granbull-4. It was looking doomed with this draft however it was only round 5 so it didn't bother me as much. I decided upon Granbull-Jolteon-Blissey. My reasoning was because I had to go as offensive as possible since the only mon that can take a hit in this draft and be a threat back is Blissey-4. I led Granbull over Jolt because of It's sheer offensive capability and always getting a Turn 1 intimidate off which can help Jolt and Bliss switch in easier when needed. I also hate having banded mons in the back due to mons like Gengar with immunities to my most spammable moves. Swaps felt like my only hope as soon I as decided upon this team, and they hit. In the first battle I swapped Granbull for Metagross-5 because I find Meta to be superior. It still also keeps the pace of this team fast with Quake-slide coverage and explosion. Later on in the round I find a Latios-8 but decided against because "A lati with no boltbeam is like an angel with no wings" but seriously, I found it to not really add much to what I had already going on. I didn't want to get rid of my 2 for 1 mon Meta, my fast hard hitter Jolt and my defensive anchor Bliss. Definitely not a bad play to take that Latios but personally, I don't really like it. After I finished Match 5, I swapped Jolteon for Regice-5 becaused the phrase was "Ground type, HRHR" and my team gets destroyed by grounds.

Round 6: The round starts off with "No type, no phrase" and my draft consists of good mons but little to no synergy. Cradily-1, Dragonite-5, Tyranitar-3, Donphan-1, Moltres-6, Heracross-4. This draft really took me awhile to wrap my head around because Tar-3 was forsure on this team, however sand is only good for Cradily and Donphan, however I find their sets useless. I ended up with Heracross-Tyranitar-Moltres. Heracross was the second best mon in this draft and a fantastic lead. I was practically forced to lead it since sand envadiates its whole set. The last was hard to decide upon but I ended up taking Tres cuz neither Dnite or Tres were good into my bad MU, and I found Moltres to be more useful with Overheat as a nuke. This didn't matter as much since the first trainer led with Snorlax-3 and that was an insta take IMO. Lax helped against Starmie-3 and Latis who my best option into was hitting MH with Hera and I hated that. Rest of the round was smooth sailing cuz I managed to build the 2017 Golden State Warriors. That is until Noland-2 where I had the superior lead into Tentacruel-4 and EQed twice. Noland then sends Zapdos-5 which my team hates. I don't want Tar getting parad so I decide to throwaway Hera to bring Lax in safely. Since Lax is 3iv and 0 atk evs, I needed chip from Hera but things went south. Zap goes for Tbolt and gets para full para. I had Lax as 31ivs in the calc and thought SBall would kill, which it didn't, however it brought Zapdos to sand range which is honestly better than still having Lax alive. I am now able to position Tar at full HP for Noland's last. Noland sends out Umbreon and I was so sure of losing here till it revealed it was Umb-3 and just killed it.

Round 7: The phrase is "No type, HRHR" and the draft is an Interesting one. Tentacruel-4, Sceptile-3, Medicham-4, Suicune-1, Gardevoir-8, Articuno-5. This draft was a nightmare for me to solve since I needed to build around Suicune the best I could. I was very scared for Mons like Latis, Starmie-3, Zapdos, Raikou, Regice, etc. I narrowed it down to Sceptile-Suicune-Tentacruel, with my lead taking a while to figure out. I decided on Sceptile for this position because It has really nice coverage, I love having an EQ mon on lead, its very fast and it's a hard mon to switch into with it's lackluster bulk. I also cannot let Tentacruel get chipped since its my best answer into Boltbeam with Mirror Coat. This round was honestly wild since Suicune ended up being the least used mon, only coming out twice. The biggest hurdler I had to overcome in this round was lead Zapdos-2. This was a Flying type trainer so I decided to sack my Sceptile for Crush Claw chip since I could not risk Tenta in this MU. I left Zap-2 behind because I think the set is ugly. I don't like DT mons without recovery. Match 6 was also looking grim with lead Dusclops-2, but I managed to find a riskless stallout by pivoting Suicune and Tentacruel forever.

Round 8: The phrase is "No type, No phrase" and the round begins with a draft like no other. Moltres-3, Latias-3, Latias-2, Latios-8, Registeel-5, Lapras-4. Because this Draft was stupid good, I spent a long time deciding who to take. I ended up with Latias-2-Lapras-Registeel. Latias-3 was elevation from Round 9 and had Ivs didn't look the best, I also prefer Psychic over DCLaw and QC over FB. Lapras-4 felt up like a backup Latias-2 and when it came to finding the last, I needed to go Registeel or else Blissey farms this team. This round was as easy as expected and I only had like 3 deaths throughout the whole round. Shocker.

Round 9: The round opens up with "Psychic type, no phrase" and it's a Noland round so you know the draft has to be good... Golduck-1, Latios-2, Miltank-4, Marowak-1, Hypno-1, Crobat-1. Thankfully, Latios was elevation from round 10, so I knew I still had a shot, however this draft is not it into psychic types. I got really unlucky with the random ivs this round ( https://pokepast.es/5891d7c56369237c ) and was fighting for my life. I knew I had to swap twice this round so I was building solely for this MU and prayed the trainer had something useful. As I was calcing these poor mons into stuff like Starmie, Latias, Metagross, Gardevoir, etc. My team ended up being Latios-Golduck-Crobat. Crobat was such a weird decision but it had the best ivs out of the bunch and its high speed with Sludge would help take the load off Latios and make me risk it less. Golduck was needed because Regirock solos the rest of the draft and I wanted some stability for the future, also Light Screen is nice utility. I played this match really sloppy and threw away Golduck into Gard-4 cuz I forgot I was slower (lmao). I ended up winning and taking Metagross-4 over crobat for obvious reasons. Later on I swap Golduck for Regice-3 and have a team I am very confident with into Noland. Going into Noland he leads with Zapdos-3 which is quite a menace for this team. I have to risk Latios here because Regice will die here if I don't hit it in range of Ice Beam. Zap gets a nasty crit with Peck and I am in a horrible position. I stick with the plan of switching into Regice and for some absurd reason, Noland switches Zapdos for Walrein-2. I decide just to spam Tbolt because I don't want to give it free turns to DT or Spam OHKO. Noland Sends out Eggy-1 and I take it out with Meta. Zap comes back in and revenges Meta and I go Regice after. No way to lose this because Regice still has Lum.

Round10: The Scientist forcastes "Water type, HRHR" and the draft is looking pretty nice at first glance. Electrode-2, Latias-3, Ludicolo-2, Steelix-3, Ninetales-4, Salamence-3. My mind was leaning towards a core of Latias-Ludi but finding my third came with issues. Regice, Blissey and Tyranitar were mons my mind could not stop focusing on and made my last feel like a game of Rock, Paper, Scissors. If I take Ninetales for Regice I forsure lose to Blissey. If I take Mence for Blissey I forsure lose to Regice. If I take Tales and Mence for Regice and Bliss then I forsure lose to DD Tar. So I ended up trying to be safests into Blissey and take Latias-Ludicolo-Salamence. I liked what Mence brought to the table compared to the rest with alright coverage, intimidate and salac when I need to outpace things. Taking these three was perfect because the first trainer leads with Suicune-1 who I take over Ludicolo anyday (i still love you ludi). Suicune is also my best option into Regice which fests on this team. This round was getting played super sloppy at the end with my lack of experience showing in the last battle. I get matchuped against Slowking-2 who had the ability to paralyze the whole team. I got a little too cocky here and wanted to setup with Suicune since I couldn't let Latias get para'd and I thought it was the best play I could make since Slowking will only have 5 Psychics. Unfortunately, I get super unlucky when trying to setup my first CM and get full parad. I try to Rest the next turn and end up getting full para'd again. Here I start panicking and try to stall out the rest of the Psychic's but they do to much to Latias. I decided to Tbolt twice and just take my kill being left para'd at 192HP. Misdreavus comes out and I was hoping it was 3 so I could heal Suicune up but it ended up being 1. I get super unlucky again when I try to revenge with Mence. Crunch doesn't kill and I get TWaved. I full Para on PS and SBall the following 2 turns. Fearow-3 comes out and picks up an easy KO on Mence. My only hope is too live the 1/16 Frust Roll or proc FB with Latias... Fearow crits me and I just lose.

Even with the misplays at the last 2 rounds, I am happy with a streak of 69 and hope to beat it very soon. I can't lie, this run felt like a fluke since I am so new to Factory and I had like 5 Latis in the last 3 drafts lmao.

Is there such a resource for the all the Pokemon in various battle facilities, especially in the Battle Factory? I might have missed it in the first page posts. I'm looking for something that lists the opponent Pokemon the AI can use, in the type format that timfredo posted, where there's Armaldo-1, Armaldo-2, Armaldo-3, Armaldo-4, all their moves (and if possible to determine, stats), and so on for all opponents the trainer can face.

I apologize if this information is right in front of me. And thanks to whoever has compiled all these sources of information and given players everywhere access to them.

There are a few different lists and resources for this. I think Bulbapedia has the best lists, but there are others too (some are listed in the first post in this thread). Here are the two lists from Bulbapedia that I use when I battle at the Frontier:

List of Battle Frontier Pokémon
This lists all Pokémon you can see in the Frontier, ordered by group. If you order them by their Dex number within each group, they will also be in their set order. So if you do this for Group 2, the first Ivysaur in the list will then be set 1, while the second will be set 2. This list does not show the exact stats of the opponents, but it shows their Natures and EVs. If you want to see the exact stats, I recommend Eisencalc which shows the exact stats for an opponent (note that IVs might have to be manually changed depending on your current progress).

List of Battle Frontier Trainers
Similar to the above, this one lists all the trainers in the Frontier, ordered by when you can first encounter them. If you click on a trainer's name, you can also see all of the sets they use. So if you are facing Youngster Brady, clicking on "Brady" will take you to a list of all the sets he can use.

Note that this trainer list does not work for the Factory. In the Factory, which Pokémon you face are based on your current streak, not on which trainer you are facing. Here's how it is for the Factory:

Level 50:
Round 1 opponents use either Pokémon from Group 1 or set 1 Pokémon from Group 2 (but not all sets from either Group)
Round 2 opponents use set 1 Pokémon from Group 2
Round 3 opponents use set 2 Pokémon from Group 2
Round 4 opponents use set 1 Pokémon from Group 3 (not legendaries)
Round 5 opponents use set 2 Pokémon from Group 3 (not legendaries)
Round 6 opponents use set 3 Pokémon from Group 3 (not legendaries)
Round 7 opponents use set 4 Pokémon from Group 3 (not legendaries)
Round 8+ opponents use all Pokémon sets from Group 3, legendaries included

Note that you will never face or use any Dragonite/Tyranitar or set 5/6 of the legendary birds and beasts in Level 50. These don't appear in Level 50 mode in any facility.

Open Level:
Round 1 opponents use set 1 Pokémon from Group 3 (not legendaries)
Round 2 opponents use set 2 Pokémon from Group 3 (not legendaries)
Round 3 opponents use set 3 Pokémon from Group 3 (not legendaries)
Round 4 opponents use set 4 Pokémon from Group 3 (not legendaries)
Round 5+ opponents use all Pokémon sets from Group 3, legendaries included

Edit: Added more info.

Wow, thanks for all the detail in this post! I will be using it for sure!

EDIT: The rough thing about the Battle Factory is that you can't steamroll the early Pokemon in the same way you can when you bring a fit team to the other facilities. And there look like a few annoyances just from a cursory look through the early list. A Light Ball Pikachu in Group 1, for instance. And I forget if in Gen 3 (or any other generation) if Quick or Metal Powder continues being usable after transformation. (I have a vague memory of it being useless post-transformation.)

A lot of HP EV investment, too.

I don't believe Pikachu (or Ditto come to that) appears in the Factory; the level 50 list cuts off at a certain point above very weak Pokemon such that you basically only see first-stage evolutions (Ivysaur, Sealeo, etc), higher-BST unevolved Pokemon (Houndour, Drowzee, Phanpy, etc), and stronger single-stage species (Plusle, Farfetch'd, Corsola etc). Low-BST basic-stage Pokemon like Bulbasaur, Abra, and Magikarp are thus excluded, and in addition some weaker single-stage Pokemon like Unown and Luvdisc are excluded despite nominally being suited for inclusion given their BST. I recall asking about this a while back and atsync posted the precise data - let me find the relevant post.

Regardless, you can (in some very select instances) steamroll through the Factory in the early rounds of level 50, there's just precious few Pokemon it's possible with because their movesets are generally so crap. Houndour1 for instance with Crunch and Ember is capable of carving through a lot of stuff but equally there's a lot of Water and Fighting Pokemon in the early rounds so you need a strong backup - Pidgeotto1 is very good and cleanly OHKOs a lot of stuff, but equally needs help against all the Rocks and Steels it can't damage effectively.

Once you get to the upper tiers of the crapmons there start to be some really good options - Pidgeot2, Sharpedo2, Stantler2, and Zangoose2 all come to mind as effective sweepers (Stantler being an excellent lead thanks to Intimidate) and even stuff like Mantine2 can put in good work under the right conditions. I've really learned to enjoy the third round of Factory level 50 - it's tough to get there because round 1 and 2 are so dicey, but assuming you've swapped every battle assembling a decent team in round 3 is not at all difficult unless you truly get screwed by the draft. The main challenge is assembling something good enough to beat Noland, but so many of the fourth round Pokemon are underwhelming that this often is easier than it looks on paper.

Aaaaaaand now I want to go and play Factory again.

I posted some stuff about this in this thread years ago but from my observations you can only see the following sets in Round 1 of level 50:

Aipom-1, Anorith-1, Ariados-1, Aron-1, Azumarill-1, Bayleef-1, Beautifly-1, Beedrill-1, Butterfree-1, Cacnea-1, Charmeleon-1, Chinchou-1, Clamperl-1, Combusken-1, Corsola-1, Croconaw-1, Delcatty-1, Delibird-1, Drowzee-1, Dustox-1, Eevee-1, Elekid-1, Exeggcute-1, Farfetch'd-1, Flaaffy-1, Furret-1, Gloom-1, Graveler-1, Grimer-1, Grovyle-1, Growlithe-1, Haunter-1, Houndour-1, Illumise-1, Ivysaur-1, Kadabra-1, Kabuto-1, Koffing-1, Krabby-1, Ledian-1, Lickitung-1, Lileep-1, Lombre-1, Loudred-1, Luvdisc-1, Machoke-1, Magby-1, Magcargo-1, Marshtomp-1, Masquerain-1, Mawile-1, Minun-1, Murkrow-1, Nidorina-1, Nidorino-1, Nosepass-1, Nuzleaf-1, Omanyte-1, Onix-1, Parasect-1, Phanpy-1, Pidgeotto-1, Plusle-1, Poliwhirl-1, Ponyta-1, Porygon-1, Pupitar-1, Quilava-1, Raticate-1, Rhyhorn-1, Roselia-1, Sableye-1, Sealeo-1, Skiploom-1, Spinda-1, Spoink-1, Staryu-1, Sudowoodo-1, Teddiursa-1, Tentacool-1, Togetic-1, Vibrava-1, Volbeat-1, Voltorb-1, Wailmer-1, Wartortle-1, Weepinbell-1, Wobbuffet-1, Yanma-1

This covers entries 111 - 200 on Bulbapedia's list of Frontier sets (starting with Grimer-1 at 111 in the Group 1 list and ending with Furret-1 at 200 near the beginning of the Group 2 list) but excludes Unown (number 127). Everything above Grimer (entries 1-110, covering Sunkern to Seel) shouldn't appear at all in Factory.

It's been a good while since I've played this format so I may have specific details wrong (maybe Seel DOES appear but I don't think it does), but Bulbapedia's Factory page is a bit misleading because it says "the enemy Pokémon and initial rental Pokémon encountered come from these lists" and then just links to the entire Group 1 list in the Round 1 section and mentions Unown as being excluded. Technically this isn't "wrong" but to me, the wording implies that EVERYTHING in Group 1 can appear except Unown, but there are certainly other Pokemon that also can't appear from that group - you are never going to encounter a Metapod or Weedle for instance.

(The rest of the info on that page seems correct though)

I have a question regarding glitches;

This is an old post so hopefully you've had your question answered by now, but if not I'll chime in.

1) RNG manipulation to get Pokemon with desirable IVs and stats are fully allowed. I guarantee almost every person on the leaderboard (myself included!) have used RNG'd Pokemon

2) You can clone whatever you want, as often as you would like with the Tower cloning glitch. It will not disqualify your Frontier records.

Super useful! Thanks very much for elaborating on that! Y'all know a lot.

Hello guys,

This post has been pending for a while and I wanted to formally communicate that as of today, I will be stepping down from my role as the manager of the Gen III Frontier Leaderboard. For the past few months, I have struggled with depression which made things very difficult for me and it made updating the leaderboard the last of my priorities. It also didn't help that I was sacked from my previous job and had to spend time finding a new job. For those who want to know, I feel a lot better now. I was able to fortunately find a new job and I am in a much better place now than what I was a couple of months ago. However, with this being said, I just wanted to express my gratitude for how everyone had been able to carry the community forward despite my null involvement over the last few months.

With this being said, I would also like for formally announce that I have also chosen who will be my successor moving forward... or rather successors. From this point onward, the thread will be managed by :slaking: Valentino23 but he will be supported by :suicune: Adedede, :cleffa: Wildcat Formation, :mewtwo: Actaeon and :zangoose: wtset who will be responsible of verifying the streaks submitted and approving them. The thread used to be a one man effort with me being responsible of doing all of this throughout the time I had been in charge of the leaderboard.

However, I am extremely fortunate that not only I could count with many people volunteering to take over the thread but also willing to cooperate on a teamwork basis to keep the thread updated. Honestly, I could've chosen any of them to pass down the torch but the fact that everyone will be working together as a team is what makes me believe that the thread will be in good hands beyond any doubt. It wasn't an easy decision to make, but I felt that as time went by, I no longer could dedicate the same amount of energy I used to do before when it came to validating every submission that was being posted. I have been struggling on recent times to update the leaderboard and I couldn't keep up due to my limited time outside of work + other interests.

I would also like to thank everyone who was reached out to me and supported me throughout a difficult period of my life. I know that the thread has not been updated for a while, so please be patient with them as we will be coordinating through everything to make sure that once everything is in place, Valentino23 will be ready to update the leaderboard with the streaks that deserve to be in the leaderboard. I will also clarify that I will not be further involved on updating any rulesets or submissions, so please reach out to any member of the Gen 3 Council if your streak has not been revised yet.

Lastly, I would also like to thank DHR-107 and Eisenherz for allowing me to manage the thread for the time I was able to. I did really enjoy going through most of your submissions and while playtesting most of the teams, I've also had a lot of fun. I had a blast theorymonning with Actaeon and Adedede whenever we came with new ideas for every team and how productive our discussions have been. I would also like to give a shout-out to ReptoAbysmal and justintr for being the excellent friends they are. Also huge shout-out to SilverstarStream for being such an epic gamer while updating the Eisen Calc with the correct Gen 3 damage calculations. Coeur7 for being the biggest inspiration for Der Deutsche Wissenschaft. SadisticMystic for his mystical wisdom when it came to several shenanigans I couldn't understand previously. Blitz and Smuckem for being my latino friends. Lastly, a huge shoutout to my friend Thomaz who made a fantastic spreadsheet that has been my inseparable partner throughout my streak chasing.

Thank you everyone and I hope that you continue to enjoy playing Gen 3!

Hello everyone,

I have been involved in the frontier community for a long time and would like to give my greatest thanks to Kommo-o for all the amazing work he has done for the Gen 3 community. His tireless efforts have been the main reason why there has been so much interest in the Frontier, not to mention the immense amount of rigour he does in verifying streaks. I am also proud to say that he is a great friend and hard working person who I am glad to see is in a much better spot these days.

Thank you again for everything, Jellal. Please take all the time you need to celebrate, and adjust to your newfound job!

As mentioned, myself and others will be collaborating over the coming weeks to update the leaderboard accordingly. It will certainly take some time to ensure every submission is checked with an appropriate amount of evaluation. Hopefully, this will also create further incentive for people to try their best for a top streak!

Best of luck to everyone!!!

Wanted to post my Battle Factory streak of 86 wins (on MyBoy emulator).

I don't have much in ways of vods, but I did make a video of me going up against Noland-4 which I will link below.

For my other documentation, I put every battle and all my thought processes in an extensive Notepad document, which I will upload here but I'll also provide a quick summary.

Rounds 1-4 I forgot what I used. I didn't really pay attention then and was just playing for fun.

Round 5 I had Latias-1, Gyarados-4, and some filler idr but it went by like a breeze because those two mons are OP.

Round 6 I should have documented more. I had Electrode-3 and Slowbro-4 for the entire round and then idr the first mon which eventually became Skarm-3 and later Latias 8. I played pretty shoddily against Noland because I misclicked Psychic against a Flareon and died to Shadow Ball. Then Latias-8 beat Machamp, and brought Rapidash in range for Electrode-3.

Round 7 I started documenting properly. You can read the notepad for battle details.
Draft: Raikou-1, Swampert-3, Kingdra-1, Victreebel-3, Moltres-2, Lapras-8
Team: Swampert-3, Raikou-1, Moltres-2.
Eventually swapped Moltres for Snorlax-6. Raikou-1 is OP dude.

Round 8 - no type, no phrase
Draft: Gardevoir-2, Walrein-3, Nidoking-3, Dodrio-3, Zapdos-2, Latios-6
Team: Dodrio-3 for immediate power, Latios-6 (is a Latios), Gardevoir-2 (amazing wincon)
Swapped Latios-6 for Suicune-4 to deal with rock types better

Round 9 - no type, high risk
Draft: Wailord-3, Scizor-3, Snorlax-7, Starmie-7, Entei-4, Ninetails-2
Team: Snorlax-7, Starmie-7, Entei-4
Swapped Entei-4 for Latios-4 after trainer 3 because it's all around better
Swapped Snorlax-7 for Tyranitar-10 after trainer 5 because the sand chip could help in the Heracross matchup

Round 10 - no type, no phrase
Draft: Walrein-3, Slaking-3, Latias-7, Gardevoir-2, Porygon2-4, Zapdos-5
Team: Slaking-3 (unga bunga), Gardevoir-2 (wincon), Zapdos (for pivoting)
Immediately swapped Zapdos for Starmie-8 because its resistances and longevity were good for my team. No more swaps after that because that team is pretty OP. Gard and Starmie give tons of setup opportunities.

Round 11 - no type, high risk
Draft: Hariyama-4, Dragonite-9, Milotic-3, Tyranitar-2, Nidoking-2, Exploud-3
Team: Hariyama-4 (Fake Out is good for scouting + it hits hard), Tyranitar-2 (synergizes well with Yama), Milotic-3 (good bulky mon with longevity in the back that can kill grounds)
No swaps during the round, but Metagross-3 encounter was scary as I had to stall it out with Milo and risk Meteor Mash boosts, of which it only got two before it ran outta offensive moves and Rest PP so Milo + Yama + Ttar overwhelmed it despite the +6 Evasion.

Round 12 - flying type, high risk
Draft: Miltank-3, Blissey-1, Exploud-3, Porygon2-1, Crobat-1, Dragonite-4
TOO MANY DAMN NORMAL TYPES
Team: Exploud-3 (great coverage in Ice Beam and good SpA), Blissey-1 (duh), Miltank-3 (EQ + Reversal improves my steel/rock type matchup somewhat)
I swap Exploud immediately for Gengar, which I deduced must have Destiny Bond. Turns out to be Gengar-4.
Rock, impossible to predict is extremely scary, but I manage to beat it and swap Miltank for Regirock-3.
Swapped Regirock-3 for Dragonite-1/2 because it seemed better with Blissey if Gengar were to die after DBonding.
Opportunity to swap a Suicune-5 for Noland-4 but ultimately decide to keep.
I beat Noland-4:

ROUND 13 - psychic type, no phrase
Draft: Vileplume-3, Starmie-1, Exploud-2, Gardevoir-3, Golem-4, Mr. Mime-3
fml
Team: Mr. Mime-3 to trick dangerous mons, TBolt if Metagross, Gardevoir-3 for coverage, Golem-4 for Physical damage and didn't wanna go mono-Psychic
I scrape by against Metagross-4/5/8, Espeon-2, Blissey-1 and swap Golem for Blissey-1, hoping to later swap Mime
I die to trainer 3 who has Lum DD Tyranitar against my fully set up Blissey-1. It kills my team the turn before it succumbs to Toxic. My plot armor had ran out.

Hello everyone,

I am implementing a new rule going forward for any submission (and also retroactively, I may reach out to you in the future about a submitted streak).

Any submission (excluding Factory for obvious reasons) must give the *exact* IVs or stats of the Pokemon being used.

This is being done as an additional check to help ensure no genned or hacked Pokemon are being used that may have otherwise illegal spreads in Gen 3.

If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out.

I I wanted to ask about a section of Serebii's Battle Factory page:

https://serebii.net/emerald/factory.shtml

Is it true that trading Pokemon gradually gets you better choices for Pokemon as you progress? And if so, what are the parameters that define a "powerful" Pokemon versus just a "normal" Pokemon?

EDIT: Also, on the off-chance I get a Battle Factory streak able to get into this thread, what sort of information do I need to provide? I'm on retail, so it will be difficult (not impossible, just difficult) to record all of the Pokemon I trade up to that point. (And I don't know when I'll lose, so will I need to start recording Pokemon / opponents' teams as soon as I get close to the threshold for having a streak posted here?)

For the first question, the answer is yes but it can be subjective. Look at this table from Bulbapedia:

When you swap 15+ times before a round, you'll receive Pokemon in your draft that normally is only obtainable in the round above your current. Now on average, sets do get better the further the round, but there are duds like getting Mr. Mime2 as an elevation in Round 4 Lv. 50 for example. What will always be a benefit (besides Round 8) is that the IVs of an elevation will be better than the ones in your current round. Here's the Bulbapedia table of IV progression by round:

So yeah, on average an elevation tends to be better Pokemon than the ones in the current round. I always aim to have at least 15 swaps before Round 6 to have at least 1 perfect IV Pokemon to choose from so I can better tackle Noland2.

Now for the second question, the best way to record your Battle Factory events without full blown video footage is by taking notes of everything. I have a current Open Lv. Singles Factory streak that I will write in the future, and while I don't have video footage of Rounds 1-12, I did take notes of every scientist quote and Pokemon I faced since round 5:

The notes will help you remember what happened on your streak too. In my opinion, this is the best way of submitting a Factory streak without showing full footage of everything that happened.

I got a team comp question. I am trying to make a Ribbon Master Shiny Tyranitar from Colosseum (aka possibly bad nature and likely bad IVs), what would be the best team to support them on their rise to infamy? I have access to every game in all generations, so i am not limited to just Emerald or RS, any help would be much appreciated.
