In-Game Tier List Discussion

its a bitch to train, and even if its available pre-E4 you can only get it after you get to Soryuu, where it is Level 5. Bottom of bottom tier with Meraruba for sure.
Yeah, I can understand why it's low-tier, but you seemed to be implying there was no reason to want one at all.

My planned team is going to be (i'll put fully evo names, it is pokemon black):

Jalorda:
Leaf Blade/Growth/Leech Seed/Giga Drain

Hiyakkie:
Surf/Blizzard/Grass Knot/Boiling Water

Archeos:
Rock Slide/Dig/Acrobat/U-turn

Denchura:
Thunder/Signal beam/Volt Change/Sucker Punch

Shanderaa:
Fire Blast/Shadow Ball/Will-O-Whisp/Purgatory

Ononokusu:
Dragon Claw/Dragon Dance/Brick Break/Shadow Claw

I might use Reshiram, but it looks fine to me

Of course. This dude wanted one pre-E4 where there is absolutely nothing lv. 60+ to train.

Also uh you should already have a solid water type unless you hate water types(like me).

How could someone hate the water-type? D: Personally, I always need to have at least 1 water poke per team. I love them. <3

@Twannes, stick to Growth on Jaroda. The Ice Beam TM comes after the pokemon league, mind you. Same goes to Earthquake. You get Galvantula and Chandelure pretty much at the same time, so grinding them might be a bit of a hassle...

I see, well then. The EQ on archeos will be dig and Ononokusu will use shadow claw. Is blizzrd pre E4? if so, Hiyakkie will use blizzard until ice beam has been found

For water types you get

Oshawott
Frogman
Panpour
Pringles Jr.
Ducklett
Basurao
Fossil dude
Luvdisc evo

uh well
all sucks in their own way
Daikenki has balanced stats but nothing stands out
Panpour sucks ingame with crap EXP growth
Ducklett dies to Thundershock
Pringles Jr. only comes like after you get Surf
Frogman looks stupid but is arguably your best water type, except it dies to Absorb.
Basurao looks retarded and has crappy stats, slow without Aqua Jet. >_>
Fossil dude is slow until Shell Rape, where it needs TWO Shell Rapes to actually be faster than what he has to kill.
Luvdisc evo sucks. Period.

Oshawott - Starter, while not exceptional at anything, is a jack of all trades

Frogman - There's a lot more Grass types used by trainers than Electric types in Unova. All those Pansages/Their Evos, then all the Monmen, Cheruine, and Deerling... It also kinda suffers from the same thing as Oshawott. Still a good choice.

Panpour - Boiling Water, Water Stone, destroy stuff

Pringles Jr. - Eh

Ducklett - So, you only have to watch out for Gear, Spider, Emgona, and Zebra. And those aren't used by that many trainers in-game, nor are they all over the place. IMO, Swanna's by far and away the best in-game water type. Physical attackers can't touch it due to Featherdace and Roost.

Basurao - Agreed

Fossil dude - Still strong and bulky, Aqua Jet

Luvdisc evo - It's not. And it's a wall, not an attacker. Kinda like a physical Chansey...

Oh, all well and good you saying x dies to Thundershock, but you have 5 other members, and Scyther dies to Rock Throw, did that stop him from being God Teir in HG/SS? No.

Out of curiosity, are there any plans to try and add dream world in to the tier list in some capacity? Realistically, I suppose it would need to be limited to the first Forest tier (since the name of the game is efficiently speedy) but it would be interesting to see where they fall.
Or would those fall under event, like with Zorua and friends

Yes. In Sekka City you can buy Blizzard, Thunder, and Fire Blast for $70k each.
In case youre wondering how far in the game is that, the seventh gym is in Sekka City.

Hmmm, it seems no one favors Jarooda. He does, however, have great bulk and acces to Leech Seed and Growth. Sure, the game goes a little slower, but that's besides the point.

Hey, if I had to chose between Darumakka and Meguruco (Hiun City), which one should I get? I've got Janovii and Dakkora, and my water type is going to be Mamanbou (p.s does anyone know where it is? I'm assuming by fishing, but where?)

Oh! At the guy who said Mamanbou sucks,no. Just...just, no.

According to Serebii, Mamanbou can be found by Surfing on the black spots in the water on Routes 4, 17, 18, near P2 Lab and Hodome city.

Although why you'd want Mamanbou of all things is beyond me.....

Mamanbou has Wish for E-4 and Gym support, Calm Mind, it can learn Surf and Dive(which is an HM again?). I personally don't prefer Gamageroge and Basurro, but I might use Burungeru. So if I'm going to have Jarooda, Roobushin, and *bulky water*, I should probably get Meguruco to help me against Cherrins Emboar and the Ghost/Psychic elite four.

o boi, I happen to love miju and snivy. Jaroda has never let me down in game. It just struggles a bit due to the lack of coverage, but leaf blade, giga drain, and return all hurt after a single growth.
As for the Darumakka or Sandile, it depends on the rest of your planned team.
I always go for Sandile since I LOVE Shandera and there's no point in having 2 fire types.
Burungeru is love but a pain to level up since comes later and at a low lever. Doesnt hit TOO hard but never dies.

Hmmm, I think Sandile will be good with Shanderaa.

IIRC Scyther does have the priority to eat them before he gets Rock Throw'd. Swanna doesn't. >_>

Yup to those that talk about magikarp. In any pokemon game except this one which thankfully dont use HM much, gyarados can use waterfall for the team, and while forcing you to do bit grinding, we can just throw him away until we get into daruma sport hall to easily get gyara. With DD, EQ(before E4), Return, Waterfall its easy to sue it to beat E4 by finding hole to sweep

Like Scyther is going to be doing much damage with a 60 BP attack coming from Base 55 Sp.Attack

Besides, you'd have something better to handle Rock types anyway by Blackthorn, you'd have something with Surf.

It's the same with Swanna. Except, by the time you get it, you're not gonna be seeing many Electric moves anyway [You're past the 4th Gym, only Electric Rock Cave really].

Mind you, Scyther can just brute force his way through some rock types, since in-game stuff usually have minimun IVs and neutral natures, so high damage input vs relatively low defense is gonna hurt (and yes, I'm talking from personal experience). Usually Wing Attack was a 2KO against most rock types from Johto.
Then again again I see your point with Swanna. Comes somewhat late (midgame), but its 87/87/98 offenses aren't that bad for in-game. Besides the thing can Fly and Surf.

I realize I'm a bit late here, but I agree with this. Ingame Serperior certainly isn't the beast that DW Serperior is, but Growth allows him to be quite effective. Bulky speedsters are rare, and Serp benefits from it a lot. He's able to survive so much, while being quick at the same time. Leech Seed is always an option, but I prefer Growth+Giga Drain since it allows you to do damage and still heal. Then Leaf Blade and Return are both powerful moves, and the coverage of Grass/Normal is fine enough for ingame purposes. His only real drawback (other than maybe people personally preferring other Grass-types) IMO is the gyms working against him, but he can handle the E4 quite nicely. A solid Pokemon for any playthrough, like any starter should be.

Thinking of using this in-game team:

Oshawott
Mebu(Whatever the Normal/Grass Deer is)
Chandelure
Sandile
Excadrill
*insert HM slave*

Can you get Mebu early enough?

Deerling/Sawsbuck comes about mid-game. And you don't really need an HM slave at all, because HMs are used so little. The only one you absolutely need is Cut, I think.

No, bambi comes exactly before the fifth gym. You really don't need an HM slave, btw. All surf areas are optional, and Strength is only good to collect Rare Candies. Cut is only used once in the entire game. The only HM you /need/ is Fly. Drilbur and Sandile both come relatively early (after the first and before the 3rd gym respectively).

And only at the very very start of the game. You'll probably still have a Patrat at that time, too.

I heard Strength is also needed at least once.
