League of Legends: Let's Talk About uhhh??

No one has answered this yet but how are new Eve and Twitch? Not in comparison with their old selves, but just how they're faring after the rework.

eve is not good because she really lacks the ability to stick to an opponent during a gank. even though her damage is higher and kit might be more fluid it just doesnt work for ganking and her laning is sub-par. most people who played even before think shes weaker.

twitch is viable at least. while he is weaker in a straight up fight 1v1 versus most other ad carries, he does seem strong when you factor in ganks and split pushing. his combo of ambush>auto>venom cask>auto>auto>expunge is very strong. good is solo q at least.

I don't think I've had a game today where I haven't been laughed at for requesting to go Sion mid. Is there some weird stigma surrounding Sion that makes people not like him mid? Some inside joke that I'm not in on? Or are people just misinformed about what Sion does?

Also, what should I do if no one on my team buys wards? Should I ask them to do so or just suck it up and ward for the team?

this is interesting to hear because a few months ago sion was a force to be reckoned with. tournament pick worthy, banned quite often, etc, etc, and he's still super strong in the right composition.

Suggest politely that they do it first. If they tell you to suck a dick, ward. You should be warding your own lane anyway where appropriate, but if no one is warding major objectives like baron, you'll have to incur the expense yourself.

Dont matter what role you play.. if you have a spare 75 gold or 150 gold. Buy wards gain superior vision and over-all advantage. Helps your support get some real items.

Just got a laptop today, and I'm downloading this game because everyone seems to love it.

Any tips on getting started? I know basically nothing about the game or how it's played, so I really don't know where to get started. Should I just go into matches and figure it out as I go? I feel like my teammates will hate me.

play bots and read new players guides

If you have any friends who play the game, get them to teach you (play a few bot games with you to teach you the basics, make low-level smurfs to play normal games with you). Guides are great, but having someone there watching you play who can explain things to you and instruct you is invaluable. If you don't know anyone who does, don't worry. When you start playing normals, you'll be with two types of people: people like you who don't know how to play the game and won't judge you at the lowest levels (so don't worry about upsetting them) and smurf (alt, basically) players. If they rage at you ignore and report them, they're stupid for getting upset over new players for showing their inexperience; if they're that good their account's hidden rating will soar and they will end up playing other smurfs instead. I don't recommend playing bots for a long time, as you need to practise the game vs. other people your skill level, but a few games to learn the basics and practise champs doesn't hurt. Everyone starts somewhere, and if you perform poorly, your account's hidden rating will adjust to reflect that, so you will eventually be matched with people your own skill level; as you improve, this will increase, but don't worry about upsetting your teammates at the earliest levels. Don't be afraid to lose when you're just starting out, but do your best!

People tend to be pretty uninformed of what champs are capable of if they're not FOTM. It may be that people prefer their AP mid to have more range.

It does seem like I never see Sion on streams anymore, whereas he was quite common when I first started watching them. Of course, I'm not even level 30 yet, so it's to be expected that not everyone knows about every champion.

However, I would expect that they at least sort of know what each champion does. They all know that Corki is an AD carry, what is it about Sion that leaves people totally oblivious to the fact that he is an AP carry? Do they somehow only know him as an AD bruiser?

And even after the game is over people still don't get it; if we win my teammates brag to the other team how they won with a "troll build" in Sion. Opposing team members have told me multiple times to "learn to play Sion noob," whether or not we won and whether or not I had a good game.

It just seems very weird, as I have not come across another champion that people know so little about.

Bot games are great for trying out new champs/getting the 150 IP first win of day bonus after a long losing streak

Well, I did a short tutorial which told me only the basics which I could've figured out anyway <_<

I headed into a regular 5v5 match and my team and myself got obliterated. I died 9 times and killed no one. I got an assist though!

So yeah. I can see it being a very fun game when I get the hang of it. I had very little idea of what I should be doing. Some large, frightening guy with a mace just kept slaughtering me with no problem lol.

Yeah, play a few bot games and read some guides until you get the hang of one or two characters. Play around until you find one you like. Videos help enormously - livestreams and tournament games may be too much so I recommend watching users like Icsullla and sovietwaffles on YouTube, who have videos that are meant to educate as well as entertain.

HUEHUEHUEHUEHUEHUEHUEHUEHUE.

But yeah this game is not friendly for low level beginners. Millions of smurfs, so expect to get wrecked until you become competent. Personally, I played shitloads of bot games before I even started playing normals against people. I liked the game enough that I didn't mind playing against bots. Use guides. And not mobafire guides. Use solomid's guides, they are the best. You'll get the hang of it, I had one friend who was so sad that he sucked at this game cause when he played with us he would feed all the time and shit like that, but he's competent now. Game just takes some time getting used to, like knowing what every champ in the game does, and what to build on each champ. Eventually you won't need guides because you know what every item does and what you should build on every champ and when you should build it.

Also, get good at last hitting, and don't buy runes until you hit level 20.

I've played about 10 games and I still suck at this game. I always forget to use my ult with Tristana. Anyways, I just need to crack out one more good game and then Anivia is mine!! Also, after watching a friend play as Ezreal today I think I'll save up for him too. His ult if just AMAZING. Being able to hit multiple targets halfway across the map is pretty badass. Oh, and it also goes through walls, so you're not safe if you hide like a pussy in your base.

ezreal is sadly one of the worst purchases a beginner could make. Save up for runes for when you hit level 20 as they are super important and require a hefty ip investment.

when I go 6-1 in lane and then the other lanes feed my lane opponent 10 kills, i don't know what to do

i was trist/alistar against mf/lulu

god help me

this is why i don't play ranked

Buy Ashe instead; she's only 450 IP and her ult does the same.

I agree, I play a bot game every day to ensure I get my first win. I also play bot games when I'm bored and would like to play LoL but my connection is being too shitty to play against humans properly. The problem is playing nothing but bots to a high level, as when you begin to play, you'll be much worse than the people at that level who are accustomed to playing humans and you'll have to unlearn all the bad lessons that bot games teach you along with the good. There's no harm in using them as practice games occasionally pre-30, but bots do not act like humans at all (to me, that's kind of the hilarity of playing against bots...) and last hitting is nothing like in bots games, so they do teach you bad habits.

Set everything to smart cast.
Nasus and ryze are some beginner friendly champions as the former teaches you to last hit and the latter teaches you to spam keys.(on smart cast)
