Media Minecraft Discussion Thread

So we complain about rain a lot. This is something I found on reddit:
http://www.reddit.com/r/Minecraft/comments/uzph6/if_there_was_an_option_in_minecraft_to_completely/c500aoy

What is said there is basically if you sleep more often it will rain less. Everytime someone sleeps (this probably means everyone on the server who is on at that point has to sleep) the rain timer is reset. There's some anecdotal evidence in the thread as well. I say we should bring back the days of old Smogcraft where we almost always asked other people to either sleep or relog.

well literally within 30 seconds of it starting to rain i turn it off

if we can figure out a way to turn it off completely who would legit object? note: snow wont regenerate in snow biomes i think

If snow and Ice won't regenerate in snowy biomes then perhaps we shouldn't just turn it off completely, especially in 1.3 where we'll be able to pick up ice blocks again. I'd imagine quite a few people counting myself would like to pick up some ice and there isn't actually a lot of it in the biomes unless you let some still water freeze over again.

Until 1.3 then I personally have no problems with turning it off.

things that doesn't work on: mobs not burning at day

then again i suppose if you're even remotely competent at minecraft you're not going to work outside without iron armor and some sort of weapon

eh, that's true. Still, mobs are not extremely difficult to deal with.
I'd imagine the worst part of it is the actual rain itself, lagging out computers.

if we could disable rain w/o disabling snow id be ok with that, but stopping snowfall would hurt Pale Pass quite a bit. there are ways around rain as has been pointed out already, optifine if u dont like seeing it or turn ur volume down when it rains and ofcourse move to a desert! =P

Minecraft Survival Games are now a possibility with the TWOO:SOS server so if you guys can get a time down I can put up the map and stuff.

Nice!

Anyway, I'll pay a diamond or 2 or an enchanted bow to anyone who can successfully herd a villager into the to be grinder in AC land. I tried it with 2 already, then they were being retards and killed themselves.

wow, if I knew about the duping glitch being patched i'd have spammed it to death

also curious as to when the xbox version gets skins and cool stuff

skins are inherently difficult to add into the game because they would require a paint program for custom ones or some sort of method of adding them from a computer into the game which is also tough. I could see some variety of 20 or so skins being added but that is about it. The addition of texture packs is also interesting but the problem is that most of them have been created by the community so there could be some issues of bringing it from the PC community to the 360 one.

I'm good on redstone now.

Something similar has been done before with Army of Two: The 40th Day, where you could create custom face masks on the EA website to port to the game, which worked because an EA account was tied to your gamertag. So it should be possible if they had the Xbox version (or rather your gamertag) tied to a Mojang account. I imagine they'll have to make it that way in the future in order to offer cross-compatibility, but until then they can't do it.

I don't ever see texture packs being available for Xbox.

So this is the rules and idea of the kanto gyms and eliet four.
All credit goes to lancerwiked.
PRIOR SETTINGS
-Every gym begins with a Gym leader in the form of a Melon + Pumpkin statue. The first person who kills ( destroys ) any of them will become the leader of that gym, and automatically recieves the badge related to that gym. The actual Leader must replace the melon-Pumpkin statue for a sign that shows who last defeated the former Leader, such as "Cerulean Gym Champion: Megados" , "Tennis is the BOSS here" etc. Anything that notes who rules there will work.

KANTO GYM RULES

-The actual gym leader is allowed to redecorate and redesign his/her own Gym at will, even building deadly traps if he desires so. Or lava pools at Cerulean. The only exception to the rule is the use of TNT. TNT is forbidden.
-Gym Leaders recieve a monthly pay at their personal chest at their Gym.
-If someone's trying to obtain all Kanto Badges, he/she must fight the actual Gym Leader with the rules the amateur combatant proposes, but always in a fair fight "only iron for both fighters", "all in with anything we have" ,"no armor for any of us"... you get the point.
-When someone beats the Gym Leader, he/she may write his/her name at the Local Hall of Fame ( a sign at the Gym Main Hall will work )
-If someone's willing to overthtrow a given Gym Leader, he/she must fight the actual gym Leader, but this time the Gym Leader will propose the rules. Again, fair fight for both fighters, but it will always be a "Best of three" fight.

Exception to these rules:
Celadon Gym is reserved to Lancerwiked from the very beginning. Anyone can fight her for the Badge, but no person may overthrow her.

ELITE 4 and CHAMPION RULES
-The first four people who manage to defeat all eight gym leaders and, consequently, getting all eight badges, will automatically promote to Elite 4. Elite 4 advantadges consist of higher salaries than those of Gym Leaders, and one less fight to become the Kanto Champion ( because you can't fight yourself ). You can be both a Gym Leader and an Elite 4.
-Elite 4 members can rearrange and redecorate their own fighting chambers at Indigo Plateau. They receive their pay at that same room.
-casual fighters, gym leaders, and elite 4 members can equally promote to Champion. To become a Champion, you must defeat all Elite 4 members . If you are part of the Elite 4, you must fight your three comrades to climb the last step.
-A Sign at the Indigo Plateau main hall will tell you who are the current Elite 4 Members
-Noone can overthrow an Elite 4 member
-Champions are la créme de la créme of Kanto : superhigh salaries and social respect comes with a price, though: If someone challenges it and the Champion is defeated or he surrenders, he will lose his Champion, Elite4, and Gym Leader status, and he/she won't be able to become a Champion again. The challenger will become the new Champion, The blank elite4 member will be occupied by Lancerwiked until someone beats her an a Elite4 Battle or she gets bored/drunk and randomly picks anyone to replace her, and the Gym Leader will again become a Melon + Pumpkin Statue.

(monthly )SALARIES:
Gym Leaders: 1 iron block + food
Elite4: 1 gold block + food + circle blocks
Champion: 1 Diamond block + lots of food + arrows + circle blocks

- Any doubts: contact Lancerwiked ( in-game, #smogcraft)

hmm, sounds interesting. do you have plans on where you are gonna put these gyms? scattered around the world in various places or in the towns/citys of smogon?

I have set up a 100x100 Stonebrick wall around my Temple entrance in the Jungle island.

The range is from -1500/1780 to -1600/1880.

Please don't enter this area at the moment, I'm measuring out important stuff for the final strech of my project there. If you get to the jungle via the Nether Portal, leave the area and catch your cats outside of this border, there's still a lot of jungle behind that. :P

In other news, check out this freaking awesome texture pack. It's not complete yet, but it looks very very promising.
