Most Generation PRNG Help / Information

In Emerald, you're always working with the same seed, 0. Every time you reset, it starts the RNG going at around 60 frames per second. If you want a certain spread, you have to hit your A button (talk to a legendary, Sweet Scent, whatever) at the exact 1/60th of a second that your frame occurs at.
Basically it's really hard and frustrating, but I suppose if you have emulators you could slow it down to 1% of normal speed to make it easier or something.

(In regards to RNG abusing for egg IVs in D/P/Pt)

I am absolutely positive no NPC's moved, but when verifying my save frame, I got the following results: 5, 5, 5, 6

I am sure all 4 times no NPC's moved, so for some reason, my save frame moved, and it happens ALL the time & I have to save again and verify a new save frame. Is it possible I can still go to the time finder, use 5 as my save frame and maybe I'll get the desired seed of my choosing?

For instance, an example being that I choose a save frame of 5 and the seed I want to hit for perfect IVs has a frame of 15. I can obviously try to hit that seed with the journal flips from 5 --> 15 (5,7,9,etc) and if I hit my delay, I hit the seed I want with the IVs I want? OR because of the fact when verifying my save frame and it was not consistently 5, I will NEVER hit the seed I want regardless if I choose a save frame of 5 or 6 when moving the journal flips to hit my time frame

^ Just dont want my question to get lost here

In more simple terms, after verifying my save frame, I got 5, 5, 5, and 6. Can I ignore the fact that I got 6 as my save frame, go to the time finder, and try to get a seed (of perfect IVs ofc)? An example would be I'm trying to hit a frame of 15 from my save frame of 5. I flip the journal page 5 times, say I hit my delay, will I get the the perfect IVs(seed) that I want? If it doesn't work (because my save frame jumped to 6), I do it over until I hit my delay again and possibly I will get the IVs of my choosing if my save frame stays at 5 and doesn't jump to 6?

K, thanks.

Currently having trouble on my first day of RNG.
I'm trying to capture a shiny of whatever I find, just as an introductory exercise. I am at Lake Verity and am using Sweet Scent to encounter Pokémon.
My target seed for this is C1000268, and the frame is 4, which apparently is "actually" 17 in Method J. The delay of the seed is 606, my most common from calibration.
I verified it using coin flips, getting this order: H, H, H, H, H, H, H, T, T, H
What I ended up with was a Starly with the following data (RNG Reporter was unable to find anything out, because of the low level):
Serious
Likes to thrash about.
HP: 15
Atk: 9
Def: 7
SpA: 7
SpD: 7
Spe: 8
If this isn't enough, I'll try the seed again with a higher-level Pokémon. I was originally there to RNG a shiny Magikarp, but after not getting it I decided to try something with a lower frame.
By the way, this was in Platinum.

First off, many of the NPC's in DPP are off screen, you can't even see them so you can't be sure they didn't move.

Secondly, that is exactly what you do. If you have a consistent save frame of 5 (3 out of 4 is pretty consistent in my book) you get into the game, do your journal flips from 5 -> 15 and then collect the egg. Then you can check using the coin flip if you hit your seed or not.

Whether or not you actually get your egg at the right frame is completely independent of your ability to hit your seed. You may hit your seed but then end up getting the egg on frame 16 (6 -> 16), but from the info you've given, you're pretty consistent with your save frame. If this happens, just try again. If you keep on getting frame 16 when you hit your seed, you know its time to switch seeds and frames.

Hey everyone. This is my first time trying to RNG a pokemon. After a few tries, I'm pretty sure I managed to hit my delay because the Elm calls matched up. After that I called Joey a bunch of times to advance my frame, but think I might have lost count.

Is there a way to confirm which frame I'm currently on? I think one of the first posts in this topic said I should be able to do this in RNG Reporter but I've messed with it a little and I don't think I'm seeing it.

I don't think that you can figure out what frame you are on, unless you remember every answer and in what order (if there are different answers). And even then I don't know too much about RNG in HGSS. You may be able to catch a Pokemon to see what frame you are on. Just my two centt bb

Was the Starly to figure out what seed you hit? Because if so it needs to be level 50 or up.

No, if I get into a battle I would advance the frame and I'm trying to avoid that until I find out which frame I'm currently on.

In the fourth post on this thread, Romsstar mentions something about a vertical line in RNG Reporter where I can check Elm calls but I don't see it.

Edit: I don't think any of this would help, but my target frame is 116 and I've currently stopped at around 100 or so but I don't know the exact frame I'm on. My seed is a21504f7, target delay was 1261 but I know I hit my delay because the first 10 Elm calls matched what RNG Reporter said.

Basically I'm wondering if there's a way to check what the Elm calls are supposed to be around frame 100 or so, or if there's any other way to find out what frame I'm currently on.

It's the first tab/screen you see in RNG reporter. Select the correct method (K or 1) and paste the seed you've hit and click generate. You should see all the frames come up for that seed.

As long as you know approximately where you are...like at least in the +/- 15 range, just call Elm like 4-5 times and try and match up where you are.

Oh, I see. If I generate the seed with no specifics it'll show the Elm call for every frame. Thanks a lot!

Edit: Oh, I can't believe this...I forgot to bring my sweet scenter with me...I guess I'll just start all over and try to hit my delay again...

As for your first question, make sure you save after the time rolls over to the next day, THEN repeat the process. That way the swarm will actually change :)

Thanks, Bats. I was soft resetting each time I changed the date, so yeah, I'll give saving a try after each change. :-)

Edit: No, saving and changing the date does not work. I'm still stuck on the same swarm pokemon in HGSS.

Ok, what happened? I've done quite a few RNG's now, and I've been nailing the delay (or pretty close to it) every time. Now, I'm nowhere near where I want to be. Does anyone have any idea what could have happened?

Are you actually looking for an explanation? It's just something that happens, I could nail results +/- 6 from the actual delay and then not get anywhere close for the next 20 resets.

Except even +/- 99 delay and +/- 9 seconds isn't finding it either. That's how far off I've suddenly become.

^No that is not normal.

@Gio

With the information you gave, all I can say is double check your ds date and the numbers inputted into pikatimer/RNG reporter or whatever you are using.

It's perfectly normal, we aren't machines, at least I'm not so doesn't surprise me I could be off by more then a second

How many frames does a moving NPC advance the RNG? Will it stop advancing the frames as soon as I open my journal? I'm trying to abuse a pokemon in an area with 1 moving NPC. Am I just gonna rely on luck here? X_X

1 step = 1 frame
1 turn = 1 frame

If they step and turn in one movement, it's 2 frames

The frame will stop advancing as soon as you have the side menu up or any of the sub menus inside, such as the journal.

I am getting the error below when I try to run PikaTimer (and JavaRNG as well). I wasn't getting this before. Does anyone know how to troubleshoot this?

I'm not sure if others are experiencing the same of what I've noticed so far as trying to RNG for any of the roamer before or after facing Red. It seems that before facing Red that my frames are consistent when I get to the last elm call before entering the elite 4, but after facing Red, there seems to be an inconsistency that makes it frustrating to get the correct frame. When I try my usual target elm letter, I end up with an actual frame 6 ahead. When I adjust back 6 elm letters, I am over by one, and then when I adjust by yet one more, I am actually under the last elm letter by 4, so I don't understand what is going on. Good thing I have a save of my game before facing Red and have re-tested that instance and it works.

So I'm wondering if after facing Red changes the way RNG calls are made when doing the elite 4.
