Information Thread | Roster | Replays | Schedule | Standings
There are 8 teams this year. Each team will have have 8 players and at least 4 subs. The players are bought using the 100k credits that managers receive during the auction. Managers and co-managers will be allowed to purchase themselves as players for their team at a fixed price of 13.5k. The managers must inform the hosts (Isaiah, UT, and KaenSoul) of all self purchases before the beginning of the auction. Teams can win their matchup every week by winning 5 of the 8 matches that their players have to play.
The tier lineup this year is as follows:
  1. SV Almost Any Ability
  2. SV Balanced Hackmons
  3. SV Godly Gift
  4. SV Mix and Mega
  5. SV NFE
  6. SV STABmons
  7. SV 2v2 Doubles (Best of 5)
  8. SV Anything Goes
It is recommended to play all games on SmogTours in the most current version of the format corresponding to those listed above. Games can be played on the Pokemon Showdown main server, but run higher risk of interference from server restarts/crashes. The result between players may be decided in a best-of-one or best-of-three at the discretion of both players involved. If there is no agreement, the result will decided in a Bo1 by default.
Winning a round rewards a team with 2 points, drawing 1 point, and losing zero points. In addition, the manner in which the round has been won will also be recorded i.e. the difference between a team's wins and losses in a specific week's round (referred to as "Win Differential").
Playoffs:
Each team will play one another for seven weeks. Based on the final standings, the top 4 teams will enter a Playoffs Round to determine the teams appearing in the finals.

Tiebreaker
In the event of two teams being tied for a spot in the finals based on points and win differential, or a tie in the final round itself, we will have a tiebreaker round(s).

Tiebreaker Rules: One metagame will be picked by each manager, and each manager will also pick one metagame to strike. Additionally, each manager will submit a backup meta to strike in case their choice is the same as the opposing team's pick. The third format will be determined at random by the hosts from the remaining unpicked, unstruck metagames. In the event that the picks and strikes from each manager are the same, the hosts will determine both the second and third format at random based on the remaining options. All three metagames must be unique, so no format can be picked twice.

Substitutes
Substitutes are to be used in the case of extenuating circumstances, whether on the first day of the week, or the last. At the same time, players should be relatively well-aware of who all are available to play in the opponent's camp. If last minute substitutes are being frequently used or abused and the hosts find explanations unsatisfactory, the hosts still reserve the right to veto them. In order to further prevent this being the case teams are only granted a maximum of two substitutes per week. Any substitutions after the second will be vetoed.

Trades
The hosts have decided to not include trades this year due to reasons outlined in this thread - all roster decisions will be final, so draft carefully!

Scheduling
Scheduling should be done on Smogon Profile walls, plain and simple:
  • If there is communication on only one user's behalf, the win will go to them. Feel free to call activity in this thread beforehand
  • If there is a very healthy back and forth regarding potential times and one user is a no-show, a manager may take the opportunity to sub out the no-show competitor; if this is not done, the user that showed up responsibly will be awarded the win.
TL;DR: Post on your opponent's Smogon wall, schedule your matches, and be reliable. If you can't play for any reason, let your manager know so they can sub you out ASAP.
Use these posts as a place to initiate discussion about bo1 or bo3 as well (or bo5 vs bo7 for 2v2)!

Sportsmanship
Exhibitions of unsportsmanlike conduct with regards to the Other Metagame Premier League will be met with an infraction at the discretion of the OMPL host/OM mods. This is unlikely to include interactions within a team's private chat unless there is reason found to make an exception. This rule is meant to protect other users from being publicly flamed/bashed/provoked by another competitor for the duration of and following the tournament.
All players must complete their matches by the given deadline. Any incomplete matches by that time will be subject to an activity decision (MAKE SURE YOU POST ON YOUR OPPONENT'S WALL); otherwise, it will be a deadgame. All matches should ideally be done on your most notable alt (the one you registered for OMPL with) to avoid confusion and all match replays must be saved and posted in this thread.

Substitutions & Lineups
Managers, if you wish to make any substitutions, you must post here tagging both the player you're subbing out, the player you're subbing in, the manager and assistant manager of the opposing team, the substitute's opponent, and all of the hosts (Isaiah, UT, KaenSoul). This is to assure that everyone is in-the-loop and that the OP is updated accordingly to reflect the new match-up.
Managers, when you send in lineups, please send it in with the tier and Smogon username of each player fully written out for ease of transcription, following these guidelines exactly.

Time for round two of Drampa tells everyone what people need to do to get in!

1 - Solgaleos - 7 points +6 Differential
Despite suffering their first loss last week the Solgaleos are still in first place. They have not locked in their spot in the playoffs yet as the Tyrants, Virizzions, Dubwools, and Gholds, and Wigglies can still all pass at once. There is more than one road to them not making the playoffs, but not many, so the Solgaleos can feel pretty comfortable. Two more points clinches playoffs absolutely.

2 - Tyrants - 7 Points +4 Differential
Now the only undefeated team in the league, the second place Tyrants are in a very good spot in theory. Their placement is very similar to the Solgaleos with only one real difference, in that they play the Dubwools instead of the Geezers, which does make their remaining season more difficult imo. 2 more points will clinch playoffs absolutely.

3 - Virizzions - 5 Points +2 Differential
The Virizzions are in third place, but cannot feel very comfortable there, having no actual point lead and only a single games differential over the next two placements. This week they play the last place Fluttermania, and will need to be looking to shore up their position with a win. They will not be able to clinch before the end of the regular season. They will not be able to be eliminated before the end of the regular season.

4 - Dubwools and Wigglys - 5 Points 0 Differential
These two teams are tied straddling the border of in and out of playoffs and they play each other this week. This is definitely the most interesting matchup for this week, and will likely determine several teams fates. The Wigglies have the easier Week 7 with the Flutters compared to the Dubwools with the Tyrants. Neither can clinch before the end of the regular season. If one of them loses the week that team could potentially be eliminated depending on how the other teams fare. The reason this is different from the Virizzions and the Gholds is that those two teams play each other Week 7, forcing points to at least one.

6 - Gholds - 5 Points -2 Differential
Another team at 5 points. They cannot clinch or be eliminated this week.

7 - Geezers - 4 Points 0 Differential
The Geezers cannot lose this week on a practical level, as they will very likely be eliminated if they do. They need to both gain points and deny the Gholds, who they are trying to pass, points. Overall the Geezers are in a rocky spot with a very important week 6 and the #1 team week 7. They cannot clinch and as said can be eliminated this week.

8 - Fluttermania - 2 Points -10 DIfferential
The last place Fluttermania got their first win last week, beating the then second place Dubwools. The good new is that the Flutters are somehow not eliminated yet. The bad news is that there is very little space for anything to go imperfectly, and they are guaranteed to, at best, only squeak in on differential. -10 is a lot to make up in 2 weeks, so I wish the Flutters luck. They will most likely be eliminated by the end of this week, and we may know as soon as the first team confirms a win.

OMPL BH REVIEW: WEEK 5
(sry if you got a ghost ping for this, got a discord pop-up and computer decided to make me stop typing -> registered enter as send message)

augustakira vs cityscapes - :arceus::corviknight::zamazenta-crowned::dondozo::rayquaza::chansey: vs :zamazenta-crowned::arceus::eternatus::kyogre::ting-lu::zacian:

"Normal" teams on preview from both sides. Also note that you can see Arceus formes on preview now, with both players opting for Ghost.

Saying that this is a game of all time would be a little generous. The TL;DR here is that we load no Prankster + Fire-weak Ice Scales into a BP Team with Torch Song attackers. This is basically all that happens in the game; even if we click No Retreat as Imposter Kyogre, and then click it again to guarantee we get a safe switch into something good against whatever city brings in, we end up still having to sack that switch-in due to trapping. The crit on Akira's Imposter likely didn't matter, as Modest Dragon Energy does at least 60%, and only a min-roll Dragon Energy into us critting stops Eternatus (and Imposter'd still be trapped).

Onyx Onix 7 vs pdt - :chansey::dondozo::arceus::zacian::eternatus::corviknight: vs :zamazenta-crowned::flutter mane::eternatus::giratina::arceus::iron valiant:

pdt making the rare choice to bring Arceus-Normal, in addition to the slightly-less-rare Iron Valiant.

This is a pretty good case for why we banned Baton Pass. pdt's team has multiple options that should theoretically beat BP teams: Boomburst Valiant, Prankster Haze, Prankster Destiny Bond, Parting Shot, and a Zamazenta-C to eat Power Trips (and also maybe even a Boomburst Flutter Mane). However, the combination of Imprison Haze + Clear Amulet + behind a Substitute means that basically all of these fail to stop Onyx's Arceus-Poison from spamming Victory Dance and inevitably winning. The one out for pdt is to get the Destiny Bond prediction right, which is an incredibly low chance, given Destiny Bond's 8PP and mono-status Giratina meaning that Arceus-Poison always safely claims a KO the turn after Giratina uses Destiny Bond.

XxLazzerpenguinxX vs Frozoid - :calyrex-ice::toxapex::arceus::goodra-hisui::landorus-therian::zacian: vs :arceus::dialga-origin::flutter mane::koraidon::giratina-origin::zacian:

Hisuian Goodra has not been seen for a very long time, largely being outclassed by Dialga-O. Calyrex-I has not been seen ever really.

An early Close Combat reveals that Toxapex isn't Fur Coat, with a probable RegenVest Goodra and a non-Guts Landorus-T being revealed. Landorus-T reveals Substitute before switching out, with the incoming Toxapex attempting but failing to trap something with Infestation. Giratina-O switches in and gets paralyzed by Goodra, revealing Simple No Retreat in the process, but switching out of Zacian (not even scouting Ice Scales beforehand). After a few more switches and trapping attempts, Zacian is eventually revealed as Ice Scales by Arceus-Fairy's Moonblast damage. Over the course of the past few turns, Toxapex has slowly been chipping away at Frozoid's Zacian's Recover PP, and manages to take it out. Flutter Mane reveals Flare Boost but is walled, with Toxapex then switching in and taking a huge chunk off of Koraidon's HP with Baneful Bunker and Infestation. Koraidon is later sacked to preserve a low-HP Flutter Mane. Calyrex-I gets in and reveals Tera Fire Sword of Ruin SD, which takes out Arceus-Fairy, and from this point Frozoid has nothing left to win with.

This game was a little all over the place, with Sevag maintaining a constant positioning advantage. Both of Frozoid's special attackers were walled pretty hard by Zacian, and Koraidon wasn't in enough to put any pressure on the presumably-Fur Coat Arceus-Ghost. Toxapex also being allowed to survive for as long as it did was also key in chipping away at Frozoid's team.

quojova vs Chessking345 - :zacian::groudon::chansey::arceus::corviknight::palafin-hero: vs :arceus::rayquaza::dondozo::diancie::koraidon::chansey:

If i'm remembering correctly, this is Palafin-H's first appearance in OMPL. Diancie also makes an appearance.

Rayquaza reveals Flame Orb relatively early on but is likely walled by Corviknight due to being mono-Flying + having no Life Orb; this Corviknight is also scouted as RegenVest, making things harder. quojova's Arceus-Electric switches in and reveals Spirit Shackle, with Chessking's Arceus-Steel revealing Calm Mind; a few turns later, Rayquaza drops to Liquid Ooze on Arceus-Electric. Koraidon gets into an advantageous position and manages to pick of quojova's Zacian with Gigaton Hammer. The following altercation sees Groudon and Imposter trade Knock Offs, and then Palafin-H gets in to begin setting up. Thanks to being Magic Guard with Victory Dance and Spirit Shackle, it manages to get to 6 Victory Dances off after trapping Imposter, and wins the game off of Chessking presumably having no remaining setup control.

I guess that Palafin-H can beat Imposter and Fur Coat Dondozo if it gets to +6 beforehand. Chessking presumably having 0 Haze users on his team also made this a lot more achieveable; Strength Sap on Dondozo also could've stalled most of the Victory Dances. Flame Orb Rayquaza is something that Chessking has brought before, but its usefulness in current meta is questionable, as the majority of things being used to check Rayquaza (including 2 things this game) need to resist Flying to live Boomburst; the extra Flame Orb chip and conflicting with standard coverage options don't help either.

GG Week 5 Review: Road Trippin'

In the first game where we can see Arceus forme on preview, Meta brought Mewtwo HO while bj brought Arceus Offense. Both Mewtwo and Goltres looked incredibly threatening so bj would have to position himself carefully, though Mewtwo does need the right coverage to do so. Scizor with 1-2 SD looked scary as well so it's a question of whether bj could withstand the onslaught. Nothing on bj's team outsped Mewtwo and Hoopa naturally so hopefully there was a Scarf user somewhere in case Mewtwo or Hoopa went rogue.
Meta lead with Grimm as expected while bj lead with Iron Treads, presumably to Knock to try to limit Screen turns and may also set Rock to at least waste a screen turn and Volt Switch on the Parting Shot/manual switch. Interestingly Grimm Parting Shot immediately while Treads clicked Iron Head, which I don't think is ideal compared to Knock. Tusk got a relatively free switch-in and showed it was indeed offensive and chunked Torn-T a bit. Grimm finally got Screens up this time and went to Mewtwo but Mewtwo took the Taunt. Meta made a great double to catch Slowking but didn't deal much and the two pivoted into Goltres vs Torn-T. Torn-T had to Taunt and took a Fiery Wrath before forcing Baxcalibur to take another. Scizor could take anything from Bax and regained momentum to let Hoopa chunk Torn to very low. Then bj EQ which meant he probably had no Knock but then Meta made the Goltres switch. bj's Tusk took Fiery Wrath well though and got to set Rock in exchange for letting Mewtwo in. Mewtwo revealed Calm Mind + Recover instead of Plot which was really dangerous and bj had to sac Scarf Treads to get it in Arceus's range, with Mewtwo revealing Aura Sphere. Though that begs the question, shouldn't Treads be in Atk slot? I'd say the small Atk boost's more valuable than the stronger Volt Switch. Back to the game, Arceus Espeed but Tusk got in and everything fell apart for BJ here. He let Meta's Tusk get too many Bulk Up instead of trying to play around it like by going Torn-T (even greeded for Rock). It already showed CC, Spin and BU so the last move had to be EQ/Headlong or at worst Knock, couldn't be Ice Spinner or else Gholdengo sits on it. Then it just OHKOed the rest of BJ's team. Overall better team and better plays from Meta.

In blinkboy's return to GG after 2 weeks, he decided to bring a hazard stack fat team with Fairyceus while Fraise brought Ghostceus Bulky Offense. Tusk should be able to keep hazards clear provided that it had something to hit Air Balloon Gholdengo. It still looked like a touch mu for Fraise as the only mon capable of making progress would be Taunt Ghostceus which hopefully would turn out to be the case.
The first turns started slow with Fraise mons getting statused and Tusk despite having Taunt and Knock was caught by Thief Corviknight. Enamorus revealed Sub though which completely invalidated Clodsire and forced a Ting-Lu sac. Meanwhile Fraise decided to sac Kleavor to Gholdengo to bring Ghostceus in. It also had Taunt which also invalidated Clodsire and forced Ghostceus sac. It then turned out even with Taunt, Leftovers and max SpD make Dondozo unable to be overwhelmed. However, Arceus drained a lot of Dozo's PPs. This was vital and helped Enamorus sit in front of it to stall out the remaining PPs and forced it to struggle. With Enamorus at +6, Ghold failed to revenge and it cleaned. Very good matchup and patience from Fraise it turned out, and also give a case for Clodsire to opt for Poison Jab if Taunt usage keeps up.

The newcomer vs the undefeated, but the newcomer has quite a matchup advantage, with Ceaseless Edge unblockable by Hatterene, Ghostceus spinblocking Tusk well, Heatran and SpD Cyclizar having good odds against Eternatus and Basculegion- respectively. However, ponch could still have an out since Spe Tusk might be Bulk Up and then it could take over late game.
Sylvi gained some substantial advantages early thanks to good natural matchup, with Basculegion showing it was Specs. Ting-Lu had Ruination however which threatened to follow up with Earthquake to force Cyclizar out. Basculegion went down after chipping and spinblocking Cyclizar. Sylvi's Ghostceus switched in and actually took a huge chunk from offensive Tusk and had to switch out. Hatterene then somehow 1v1 Heatran but fell to Ceaseless Edge. Hamurott got 2 Spikes before falling to Eternatus. Then Sylvi saced 2 mons to clear Spikes. Sylvi's Tusk was Bulk Up but forced out by IronPress Corv but Ghostceus got to heal up. It was Calm Mind Taunt but sadly Etern was faster and had Toxic, allowing Tusk to trade with it. Then Sylvi's Tusk, even with Lum to prevent Toxic was unable to beat Corv. Overall ponch once again showed his superior GG mastery to turn around a worse matchup. He may just go undefeated at this rate.

jrdn came in with a pretty fat Bulky Offense team, while Lily kept using her Amoonguss, presumably still Eject Pack? jrdn's team seemed very well prepped for Lily overall, with Hecidueye easily taking hits and clearing Spikes from Hamurott and Ting-Lu, Hoodra could just deny everything from Amoonguss if Sap Sipper, Def Braviary-H should take on Tusk, Rotom-W would basically be an annoyance but not do much. Koraidon was the only threat that Lily seemed to be able to fall back on to do stuffs, but still only with prediction.
The first 10 turns went extremely well for jrdn. Sap Sipper Hoodra, which was also IronPress got a massive chunk on Ting-Lu and even though the replacement gave it Rock, he got Rock of his own and even burned the only threat in Koraidon in Lily's attempt to go aggressive before getting bled dry. However, jrdn just gave Hecidueye to Tusk which was a massive blunder, especially when he had Braviary-H. Then he Future Sight with Glowking which was also bad when it just gave Lily a free turn to go to Ting-Lu or Hamurott. Things slowed down a bit as both Ting-Lu got burned. Lily then had to sac Tusk to get the spin. jrdn's Ting-Lu then basically dropped to get a layer of Spikes, but gave 2 in return due to Hamurott, which also revealed it was Scarf and got another against Waterceus. After Lily saced Koraidon and her own Ting-Lu Hamurott dropped Hoodra to very low but then switched out to make sure Braviary-H didn't get Calm Mind most likely. After Hoodra fell to Hydro Pump crit, this time Amoonguss finally got to activate Eject Pack to give Hamurott a KO against Glowking. Eventually Braviary-H got taken out by Washtom and game was over. Overall a bad game from jrdn, he loaded the best mu I've seen in a while but somehow still lost.
With no more Miraidon this week, we might see some interesting shifts!

The always right 2v2 predicts for week 6

Fragments vs yuki - Fragments has been on fire this OMPL and while he lost his 100% winrate last week playing the one and only despacito goat he is undeniably a 2v2 top dog this tour and so far im not really feeling the yuki teams tbh, ofc this is not a 100% victory for fragments but if yuki wants to win he def needs to pull some out some heat.

Potatochan vs Hugo - man I feel betrayed, I thought I was about to play driplegend (a good player don't get me wrong but he is not going to hot this OMPL) but then I saw I was facing down potato, this is the smogon equivalant of an ambush. While Potato hasn't played any post home gen 9 2v2 to my knowledge he has a week to catch up wich tbf is more then enough time and he is imo one of the best 2v2 players without a doubt so that combined makes it a bit scary. If someone is gonna break the 100% winrate of the wiggly's it will be potato but tbf I wouldn't mind losing to him to much (ill figure something out tho I hope)

bored_glitch vs tyo - its pure mathematics. Tyo is 3-0 (the only one with a 100% winrate besides Despacito and myself) vs glitch who is 1-3

Chris32156 vs Krytocon - I am def looking forward to this match and honestly I have no idea who is gonna win it

AAA OMPL Week 5 Review

MZ vs hariyana grande
1687931941361.png

From the preview both bring fairly balanced teams with some unknown factors like Landorus-Therian and the Iron Treads/Heatran set from both sides so it's hard to tell clearly if one has a clear advantage over the other. Heatran could possibly be threatening but the set is unknown.

Getting straight into the game, Heatran leads into Landorus-Therian. Hariyana scouts Earth Eater/Levitate and switches to Corviknight, revealing WBB on hariyana's side, leaving him vulnerable to Roaring Moon if it's an offensive set. MZ aggressively pivots Inteleon on the Corv switch-in and spams pivot, revealing SoR Moon, until Heatran comes in to set rocks and repeat. Eventually after some shuffling Roaring Moon comes in to break, chunking Landorus-T, revealing its Choice Band and also Landorus-Therian's ability as Fluffy. Landorus manages to chunk Roaring Moon with a U-turn but there's now nothing that takes two Crunches from Roaring Moon meaning hariyana has to play aggressively to not let it in. Slither Wing comes in and reveals Sword of Ruin and clicks CC into the Scream Tail. STail reveals Thunder Wave, paralysing Iron Moth. Iron Treads comes in, revealing WBB with Iron Moth pivoting out. Slither Wing comes in again to break but STail comes in again to soak up the Close Combat, revealing Regen, which makes it a pain in the ass to break. Eventually Muk manages to threaten STail out and Knock the Treads. Corv comes in taking significant chip before pivoting on the Inteleon, threatening it out with HElectrode, seemingly revealing Specs. HElectrode pivots in Slither Wing before switching to Corv, presumably to scout max speed. Eventually Slither Wing aggressively comes in Heatran setting rocks, U-turning on Scream Tail, chunking it significantly, revealing most likely a max speed spread. More shuffling occurs before Landorus-Therian gets Knocked and sets rocks, revealing Sandsear Storm on the Scream Tail. More shuffling occurs before the Roaring Moon gets pivoted in, hariyana forced to sacrifice the low Landorus-Therian. Slither Wing comes in again, pivoting out and Alolan-Muk exchanges a burn for a Knock on Heatran. Corv comes in again but Inteleon again manages to take advantage of Corv defogging to let Roaring Moon in. It pivots on the Slither Wing coming in with Intim Corv revealed. Slither chunks it severely on the pivot, with Roaring Moon coming back in and hariyana sacrifices the Corviknight. HElectrode comes in oddly enough but gets chip on the Roaring Moon, hariyana trying to set up for a HElectrode endgame as Heatran gets low and Roaring Moon is low enough to be finished off. Alolan-Muk is sacrificed and HElectrode comes in, finishing off Heatran after sacrificing Slither Wing. However Inteleon reveals Choice Scarf which MZ hid and bluffed all game and MZ can afford to sacrifice until Roaring Moon/Inteleon can clean up the Iron Moth/HElectrode.

Somewhat poor matchup for hariyana with everything laid bare. Regen Scream Tail was always going to be annoying when our main breaker was Slither Wing and while HElectrode did have a decent MU, it had more than a fair few obstacles with Heatran/Roaring Moon and ultimately the uncommon Scarf Inteleon meaning MZ always had an out to the other offensive threat on the team. Otherwise Roaring Moon was an annoying threat, punishing the lack of Intimidate Corviknight (free me) and put the team on a real ticking timer, although it was always going to be on one. Despite that, both played well. Hariyana managed to seemingly manuever to a winning endgame with HElectrode which was unfortunately cut short by a surprise Scarf Inteleon which was very cleverly hidden by MZ. Never clicking Hydro, only U-turn, and bluffing Specs in a previous 1v1 between HElectrode/Inteleon (as Scarf Ice Beam was not guaranteed to kill from full). Perhaps had hariyana clicked U-turn earlier with Slither Wing which could've put hariyana in a winning position earlier with more sacrifices or went into Iron Moth during the endgame instead of sacrificing Slither Wing but in the end I doubt there was too much that could've been done without future foresight, hariyana and MZ still managing to play very well.

Shiloh vs Ivar57
1687935085635.png

Starting off from the preview shiloh appears to bring an actually balanced team with the odd pick of Glowking and some unknown sets within Heatran, as well as a threatening VoltTurn core with Slither Wing + Regieleki but otherwise fairly generic Corv + Chomp without any of the prominent RegenVest mons. Ivar on the other hand brings a seeming HO team with most likely screens lead Mew and an uncommon Diancie. Depending on the sets, Ursaluna could prove fairly threatening here assuming BDrum Triage if it gets it off fairly free behind screens but we'll have to see.

Into the game, Ivar leads with the obvious Screens Mew while Shiloh leads Heatran. Heatran manages to get some decent chip with Ivar opting to immediately switch after only getting Light Screen into Quaq, risking an unlikely Wisp. Heatran instead sets rocks which are promptly removed by Quaq, with Glowking coming in and revealing Fluffy based on the Wave Crash damage and also Future Sight. Volcarona comes in and deals significant damage to the Garchomp with Bug Buzz, making Volcarona seeming a lot more threatening, however unfortunately gets crit by the Future Sight leaving it very low. Ivar scouts speed from Chomp and pivots into Diancie, revealing Earth Eater. Ivar then switches into Mew, getting the Light Screen off and the Taunt predict correct. Quaq comes in and gets the Swords Dance, OHKO'ing Corviknight with Wave Crash. Regieleki comes in to revenge but fails to with Light Screen up, leaving Quaq at precariously low HP. Garchomp comes in threaten a revenge kill and through some shuffling Ivar manages to get Light Screen up again, sacrificing itself as Heatran reveals MGLO. Volc comes in again and Garchomp takes over half from a Fire Blast. Heatran doubles in on the Diancie predict and Volc is sacked on Ivars side. Quaq threatens Heatran out and Ursaluna comes in aggressively to try to get a Belly Drum off to win the game. It gets Belly Drum off and reveals most likely LO instead of Sitrus Berry. However Slither Wing trolls it and reveals Triage Leech Life. Diancie comes in again and tries to setup however Slither Wing sets up a Subsitute and chunks it with LO Close Combat. Diancie manages to get the Diamond Storm defense boost, forcing Slither Wing out and Diancie manages to recover most of its HP as Garchomp is sacrificed after getting some chip on Diancie. However Heatran just comes in threatens it out with Steel Beam and the game is mostly lost as Ivar cannot break through with his remaining mons.

Well played from both sides although I think Ivar had two opportunities to win despite getting a bit unlucky Future Sight crit which mattered as otherwise a fairly healthy Volc could better take or live something like one Garchomp Liquidation behind screens or a Regieleki TBolt/Future Sight or potential Sludge Bomb. Assuming based off damage calcs Volc was SFLO, Ivar could've gone for a win with a single Quiver Dance around the end (or maybe it was Specs based off the damage but that seems unlikely) as seemingly everything died otherwise. If Ursaluna was actually setup behind Reflect as well, Shiloh would've most likely lost (perhaps against the Heatran). To be fair, Ivar didn't have a way of predicting the very rare Triage Slither Wing, but in any case Triage Leech Life fails to revenge behind screens and LO +6 DPunch is largely favoured to OHKO Slither Wing. Still, well played from both sides.

atha vs The Number Man
1687937042518.png

Again from preview we see two fairly balanced teams with the odd pick of Mismagius on TNM's side, either Normalise or SFLO. Both teams seem to stalemate into each other, although that depends on some of the sets. If Washtom tricks and Wisps Goodra-H perhaps Iron Moth can break through or even open up for Enam-T. MGLO Quaq could also perhaps be threatening but requires chip and hazards. HElectrode could also potentially be threatening but needs good play to chip down the Iron Moth and get predicts right on the Chomp or remove one of them.

Opening up, Rotom-Wash leads into the unknown Mismagius. Forcing it out, some shuffling goes around and eventually Garchomp comes in on the HElectrode double, setting up hazards and Landorus-T come in to do similar, also revealing Bulk Up before being forced out by Dragon Tail forcing Mismagius in. Iron Moth comes in, catching the Mismagius revealing Will-O-Wisp. Iron Moth pivots on the Goodra-H into Quaq, chipping down the Intimidate Corv on the switch. Iron Moth comes back in aggressively on the Roost. Atha repeats the cycle in order to rack up chip to eventually break down Corv, presumably. Eventually Goodra-H comes in on the predicted Wave Crash to break the stalemate, Quaq reveals Close Combat into the Scream Tail and it uses the opportunity to setup CM. Rotom-Wash comes in and Tricks away Choice Scarf to a Mismagius, gaining Life Orb. Eventually it devolves back into the same Iron Moth and Quaq cycle, burning away Corv's Roost PP. Eventually it breaks again as Corv goes to Defog, leaving itself low and is forced into Scream Tail. Iron Moth comes in and reveals Sludge Wave, burning away at Scream Tail's Wish PP. Eventually Landorus-Therian comes in on a Sludge Wave, implying WBB (although this might've been obvious earlier). Landorus-Therian sets up rocks as the Chomp comes in, Quaq coming in again to remove, threatening the Corv double still low. Mismagius comes in to presumably block Rapid Spin and is fairly worthless with a Scarf anyway, dying to the Wave Crash. HElectrode comes in to threaten Quaq out, Garchomp comes in a Leech Seed and Atha immediately switches out to Iron Moth on predicted Chloroblast. Iron Moth pivots into Quaq on Lando-T, forcing a Corviknight sack. HElectrode comes in again and with Quaq seeming unstoppable every time it comes in, TNM goes for two Chloroblasts onto the Chomp, putting it low as it goes to set rocks. Atha sacrifices a fairly useless Enam-T and Iron Moth comes in to recover. At this point, TNM can't do much. A bunch of shuffling occurs but Quaq eventually can come in and with rocks up Scream Tail eventually folds. HElectrode comes in again but Atha gets the guessing game right and Chomp safely comes in. There's one last desperate attempt with Lando-T BU to win but Rotom-Wash simply threatens it out with Hydro Pump.

Very even game for the most part but from the preview Atha had the slight edge which they managed to convert into a win, forcing a continous cycle as Quaq wore down Corv and despite TNM trying to break the stalemate Atha converted into more of an edge as Corviknight was too low to wall Quaq anymore. TNM managed to manuever HElectrode to be a bit threatening by the end but Atha could afford to just sack down and convert into a win, but well played from both sides and TNM's streak finally manages to be broken.

1687942126992.png
tier vs Osake
1687942168289.png

Osake seems to bring a fairly balanced team, tier on the other hand brings a far more offensive flavour to the table. Zama-C appears threatening however to tier's team with no real switch-ins, although Pao can revenge. None of tier's threats strictly break through easily but given chip could potentially break through with like CB Pao (assuming it is CB) or Goltres so it depends if tier can manuever and win in time.

Leading off, Heatran stares down Ursaluna, threatening it out as it is most likely EE. Heatran clicks a seemingly free Magma Storm into Landorus, revealing an odd WBB. They use the opportunity to set up rocks and Lando scouts EE with Earth Power, just in case. Heatran threatens to wear down Lando with Power Gem but Lando reveals Focus Blast and pivots on the Corv switch-in. Goodra-H predicts the Garchomp switch-in and Ice Beams on the Corv which reveals screens. Tier gets unlucky and gets frozen with their screens Corv, with Chomp eventually coming in and getting a Swords Dance off, threatening Goodra-H out into Corv. Garchomp reveals Galvanize Double Edge with Corviknight living, revealing Fluffy. Scream Tail is pivoted in and walls Garchomp, presumably revealing Unaware. Heatran is forced in as Scream Tail sets up so Osake switches WBB Landorus on the Magma Storm. Heatran is sacrificed, bringing in Chien Pao to threaten Lando out. Lando actually manages to live at +2 (to Osake's own surprise) but doesn't matter since it gets flinched and dies. Chien-Pao trades itself for large chunk of HP onto Zama-C and tier's support throws by not making Zama-C full speed, with tier Iron Defensing in vain as it just gets outsped and dies in two. At this point Zama-C just sets up and sweeps.

Unfortunate luck on tier's part given they were forced to play without screens and thus died pretty quickly to Zama-C after it got setup (also who EVs their Zama-C to like 387 bruh). Even then it wasn't exactly clear cut but I guess who will ever know. Otherwise nice and clean victory to Osake who continues winning while tier continues on the downward spiral.

AAA Predicts Week 6

PociekMociek vs shiloh
Never been the biggest believer in shiloh but Solgaleo's AAA slot seems to be floundering and I'm sure career's cooking skills in the kitchen + shiloh's ability to pilot and click will make for an easy win. But hey... you never know...

The Number Man vs Osake
Both of these team's AAA slot have only lost once I believe? Correct me if I'm wrong, but the one loss on France's part is for the one time they subbed someone else over Osake, so statistically Osake is the better player (unless I'm wrong and Osake has dropped a game this OMPL). Simple math. Should be an exciting game with surely some heat brought so it'll be fun to watch.

Ivar57 vs MZ
Both players really love to load up similar-ish big balance but I know Ivar is more comfortable into it so I'm believing in Ivar to cinch the win. That being said, MZ has been having a comeback so maybe he's going to rampage through the AAA pool undefeated.
