Disaffected and callously distant. The threat of loss is too great to risk making new bonds with others.

Background:
Companions with her trainer Lou from the crib, and was alone in that role for years. After many meetings and partings, some sweet and some bitter, Ferre has grown cold to most others. It is her preference to no longer battle in a large team, if at all. Instead, she prefers only the company of her trainer, and indignantly waits for him to finish his business with other trainers or Pokemon.

Name Etymology:
A historical bolt-throwing weapon, also named the Domina Gunilda, mounted to Windsor Castle in the 1300s to repel intruders. The name spread to other large projectile emplacements, becoming synonymous with heavy artillery and the usage thereof.

Attitude and Motive:
Confident and conceited. Gunhilde is happiest as the center of others' awe and trepidation.

As a consequence of her efforts to grow stronger, she has managed to gain the respect many of Lou's other battling Pokemon, which brings her contentment whether she's willing to admit it or not.

Background:
ch.i: Gunhilde's previous trainer was interested only in her utility, putting her to work in heavy labor. Following his arrest, Gunhilde languished in storage before making her escape the first time she was released from her ball. She lived within city limits for months as a feral Pokemon, wracking up quite the hefty bounty in property damage taking what she needed. Rather than hand Gunhilde over and claim the reward for her capture, Lou offered her a place in his team.

ch.ii: The days of trouble that followed that meeting are as ancient history to the pair, now. Between that day and this one lay uncounted trials, failures, and victories; each of them spurring just a modicrum of growth and reflection. Carried along this tide of time and her own great effort, Gunhilde has blossomed from a street-dwelling petty thief into a highly respected and competent battling Pokemon. And to her credit, she has allowed only some of her success to go to her head.

Dyaus is violent and crude, not due to malice, but due to the sheer overwhelming joy of being powerful.

Background:
Dyaus lived much of his life on a mountain he claimed as his territory, chasing off intruders and enjoying the spoils. As he evolved, he gained further territory, enjoyed a greater bounty of prey, and made ever more enemies. When Dyaus finally picked a fight with too many opponents at once, he found himself thrown down from his mountain into the valley below, sorely beaten. He dragged himself through the lowlands, trying to feed himself well enough to heal, when he crossed paths with Lou. Now, he continues his tyrannical reign as a battling Pokemon participating in the league circuit. What could be better, than free reign to display his power, with all the land's eager audiences as witness?

Formally polite as a rule. Wholly dedicated to their own improvement, perhaps to the point of obsession.

Background:
Masakado pursues a strict regimen of exercise, diet, and training to improve themselves as a warrior. It's difficult to get a direct answer as to why, exactly, they push themselves to this degree. Among Masakodo's teammates is an ever-present atmosphere of concern from their fervor and urgency in their exertions. When made to battle alongside Nebuchadnezzar, he becomes quickly annoyed with his egocentrism and perceived lack of discipline.

Boisterous and competitive. Janus seeks always innovate in his technique, and often pesters other Pokemon to annoyance trying to get them to train with him.

Background:
Twin of Juno and former contest competitor, bred and groomed for the role. Forced into pagentry as a Kirlia, Janus moved through the motions in a fog of apathy, until one contest devolved into a battle over a judging dispute. He found a spark in combat that he has chased ever after. He learned of a stone that could bring him closer to his goal and pilfered one as soon as he had the chance. Irreversibly changed from the show-stopper his trainer had made him to be, Janus found himself discarded and adrift, until he crossed paths with Juno and Lou.

The machine lifeform Dark Forest calls him "unintended", "accidental", and "undesigned"; but Janus only ever replies that he has the privilege of getting to "design" his own future self.

Background:
Twin of Janus and his predecessor as a contest competitor. Whenever she was dragged to compete in a contest by her former trainer, she would bitterly protest. Fed up with managing an unruly and unwilling star, her trainer grew neglectful of her and began training her brother Janus for the role. Easily slipping away, noticed but unmissed, she quickly found trouble with her attitude and fled from neighborhood to neighborhood. Her trail of enemies eventually lead her to Lou's team, where she found tolerance for her barbs.

When the erratically quivering ball was thrust into Lou's hands by the trainer, it seemed there was more to their story that they weren't telling... Background:
ch.i: Found wild, young, and abandoned near Lou's home, long before he began battling. Raising the feral and rambunctious Anpao was both challenging and expensive. With the passing years, she as grown into a trusting and reliable member of the team. Even now, however, Lou has an unconscious preference for cheap, easily-replaced furniture...

ch.ii: The intervening years have done much to mature Anpao into a more socialized and considerate Pokemon, and done little to curb her exuberance.

Thinks herself meritocratic, but can be blind to extenuating circumstances. She heaps praise onto strong foes, but is often harsh to those she decides are lazy or cowardly.

Background:
Common folklore claims that Pokemon of this family are formed from the souls of the weapon's former victims, and Nemesis insists that she was executed for attempted revolution in some long-forgotten kingdom. Morbid claims aside, her inability to answer questions pertaining to the era consistently casts some doubt over her story.

Thus, Euryphaessa's disregard for the gems she drops vexes Vasudhara greatly.

Always intent on training; both his own and that of others. Often works exercise into other activities, sometimes in inane ways.

Background:
Marathon is characterized by a desire to share with others the thrill of fitness. To that end, he trains himself to reach what he believes to be perfect physical equilibrium between endurance, speed, and strength. He encourages those around him to take part, whether they protest or no, and even if they lack physiques to train in the typical understanding. Perhaps his single-minded and exhausting devotion to this goal will catch up with him at some point, but it hasn't as of yet.

Working on his confidence, but with emphasis on "working". Pilzintecuhtli has issues facing any possible prospect of failure or of harm.

Background:
Piltzintecuhtli has spent the majority of his life living in a nook in the corner of a garage, specifically prepared for him with soil and water, under Lou's care. For fear of the outside world, he would only leave that spot after much urging from Lou's other Pokemon. His most recent trip outside, however, lead to a both a battle and his evolution! This comes with both a newfound mobility, and an expectation from the other Pokemon that he use it. Piltzintecuhtli now faces one of the most frightening prospects in all his life: socializing!

Background:
Dionysia was first discovered in a dingy warehouse, subsisting on discarded chemicals and other refuse. Only after leaving various forms of trash and trimmings, and slowly discerning her likes and dislikes, was it possible to bring her out of her hiding place. The process took Lou several weeks and a considerable bill in junk foods.

Background:
Bellistar is her collective name, and she insists on being addressed singularly. Hatched from an egg early into her trainer's journey. Each of Bellistar's evolutions brought forth a new constant annoyance and a wealth of unfamiliar feelings and thoughts, in the form of a new head! It has taken years of patient training to help help her bring her unruly new siblings in line with her eldest, center head.

Sintashta is a former circus Pokemon who became increasingly afraid of performing as he grew up and started getting larger. His size, and his complex regarding such, caused him to become increasingly more awkward and clumsy. His anxiety came to a head in his first performance after evolving, where he broke a support pylon and brought the entire tent down upon the crowd. Amidst the chaos of his roof-wrecking performance, he fled the scene in tears. Indeed, he hasn't yet learned if his former troupe came to harm, or if they're searching for him.

Vayu was captured in the wild many years ago, and trained to evolution in a short time in order to keep up with his teammates. After the dissolution of the old League, Vayu worked odd jobs along side Lou, until the launching of a new circuit was announced. Vayu was one of the most insistent Pokemon suggesting entry. Rather than to compete or to gain strength, he wishes to see what the other entrants have been up to during the intervening time.

A stoic guardian of an ancient ruin who was tasked, much like many of his kind, to guard a specific tomb in a catacomb from would-be robbers and despoilers. He sat for centuries, idle and inert, until the forces of time and erosion caused the ceiling to cave in. Being a ghost, he easily rose through the rubble to the now-sunken street above, built right over his former home. With nothing left to guard and a whole new era to see, he accepted an offer to travel with a trainer.

Inshushinak is usually inanimate unless addressed. Even in battle, it often sits still in deep analysis before suddenly moving.

Background:
A relic Pokemon unearthed from ancient ruins, made or born in a bygone age. Upon reactivation, Inshushinak was revealed to be badly damaged and unable to function at a basic level. It would be some years and several consultations with leading archeologists before Inshushinak was fully repaired, but by then their ancient records had almost fully faded.

Background:
Euryphaessa has little drive for anything at this time, and requires a great deal of prodding from others to attend much of anything. Her disinterest extends even the precious gemstone shells she sheds. When others, even strangers, collect them from her wake; those around her are alarmed but she herself cannot bring herself to care. This disregard agitates Vasudhara in particular, who insists that she see her cast-of "gifts" into the hands of the deserving only.

Wily and willful. Once she's set her mind on a goal, she'll have it by any means available to her. Brigid lives by the motto "ask forgiveness, not permission."

Background:
Brigid lived for a long time on the streets of Lou's hometown, taking what she willed and answering to no one but herself. Preferring to take rather than share, she made her share of enemies, but managed to fast-talk her way out of facing any dire consequences for her actions every time. Eventually, her lifestyle would lead her to get caught trying to steal food from Dagda's stash. Rather than getting the beating she expected, she found herself essentially adopted and brought under his care. When Dagda chose to join Lou's team, he invited Brigid to join as well.

Background:
Bred and raised as a mountainside rescue Pokemon, Lucia used her light steps and keen senses to find tourists and trainers trapped in the aftermath of snowstorms or avalanches. As tourism increased in the area, however, the team Lucia worked with became stretched too thin, and casualties became increasingly common. This had a clear toll on her, causing her to become morose and rarely responsive, earning her the name Miseria. Eventually, the team agreed it'd be best that she find a different calling instead. Lou was the first trainer in the area to agree to take Miseria in, and she went with a total (and frankly, concerning) absence of fuss.

Background:
Morpheus acts always with caution and consideration, for a very particular reason: He believes that if his dreamer ever wakes up, he will cease to be. Lou's team try to tell him that he's been around before, and he remembers events since his dreamer's last nap, but he doesn't perceive those periods of wakefulness at all. Morpheus seems unconvinced that his dreamer has ever woken before, despite the insistence of others.

Background:
A former employee of a local grocery store, Thresher worked seperating shipments of fruits and vegetables from their shells and leaves. She also battled unruly youths who violated the rules of the store for many years, but was fired by the manager after her first-ever loss. Finding herself completely without purpose and sensitive to rejection, she drifted aimlessly through the neighborhood before being asked to join the team of a passing trainer. Even now, though, getting Thresher to commit to anything with a risk of failure is difficult.

Brash and boastful in manner, bordering on arrogance at his worst. Wishing to prove his mastery to others, Nebuchadnezzar rises eagerly to challenges both real and imagined.

Background:
Nebuchadnezzar II is an artificial Pokemon designed from nose to tail to battle extraplanar beasts and adapt to any conceivable battlefield. Unfortunately for his teammates, this fact has gone fully to his head. His ego leads him to preen his victories before they arrive, and to curse and contend his losses in hindsight. As a result, his growth as a battling Pokemon has been much stunted. When made to battle alongside Masakado, he becomes irate with the other's stoicism and perceived lack of fervor.

Background:
Raised as one of a clutch of eggs raised by a commercial breeder, Percival was last of his siblings to be adopted out. In his new home, he hid in his shell for four days straight before he was finally coaxed out by food. He took to food, and its preparation, very quicky thereafter. In addition to his passion for cooking and for eating; Percival now steps into the battling circuit for the travel opportunities. Mainly, he aims to chase the tales of restaurants and meals he heard from Lou's battling Pokemon.

Background:
One of Lou's earliest Pokemon. Her return was foretold in the smoke and ash of the dying age, and thunder shall peal and crack the earth at her coming. The fields shall wither upon her arrival, the seas shall be as tar, and thereafter the last song of man shall chronicle their lament. Turn your eyes from the glory of her countenance, and allow the dread of her presence to fill you and purge all else.

Background:
Myrmecoleon was found during a snow trip, rummaging through the cabin trash. To get him to stop, Lou was able to bribe him onto the team through the use of food. Copious amounts of food. Myrmecoleon is proving to be a capable, if volatile, asset to the team... And, a very, very expensive one.

Kartikeya strives always to meet his vision of a calm, collected musician and warrior. During downtime, he adheres to a strict daily schedule to further his own training: Always music first, then a meal, then sparring, then a meal, and then rest. He often breaks out in song in battle, sharing tactical information with his allies in a system of metaphor he devised. Background:
As often happens with Feebas, Pothos was shunned and avoided for his ragged appearance before evolution. Prior teammates each called him grotesque or worse, and he was passed from trainer to trainer until finally arriving to Lou's team. Under the care of Vasudhara and their other team members, quiet Pothos gradually opened up. After evolution, he took the name Anteros, and resolved to repay the world for the kindness he had finally received.

15th legendary Emperor of ancient Japan who was crowned at the age of 4. He was later deified as Hachiman, a Shinto god of archery and war.

Restrained, but only barely. Often struggles with containing his temper and his pride.

Background:
Oojin is an incarnate spirit of storms, who often allows himself to run wild across the open sea. When he was enjoying his most recent creation, he drifted outside of his chosen domain and caused the crashing of an aircraft upon the ocean. The sole pilot was unharmed, but Oojin was still reprimanded by his brother spirits. As penance for causing havoc outside of his realm, he now must answer the battle call of the trainer he endangered.

The lord of the rukh, a race of gigantic intelligent birds, in Iranian myth. One such rukh rescues the stranded Sinbad in the One Thousand and One Nights.

Attitude and Motive:
Severe, imperious, and deeply prideful. Shah Rukh is the unquestioned master of their home and domain.

Background:
Shah Rukh is one manifestation of the ruler of Mt. Thunder, where Lou journeyed with Ira to teach her greater self-control. To earn the right to petition the master, a petitioner is required to demonstrate force, discretion, and restraint in battle. Born from the mountain storm, Shah Rukh emerged fully-formed in response to this demonstration to act as Ira's new mentor and master.
