RMT of the Month​

The aim of this project is to generate attention for people who put effort into making quality RMTs. There are a lot of teams posted that are well-built and presented but left unappreciated, and RMT of the Month looks to bring them into the spotlight.

Concept

• Every month, official Team Raters will monitor the RMTs posted in their respective tiers.
• A few will be chosen that the RMT staff feel exemplify the qualities of an excellent RMT.
• These RMTs will be posted in this thread, along with a paragraph explaining why the particular team was selected. This will allow posters to gain an idea of what constitutes high-quality RMTs, and hopefully consider these aspects when posting their own teams.

Prizes

• The selected teams will be announced in the RMT Discord server and in the RMT room on PS.
• They will also be recorded in the Hall of Fame, which will be maintained in the OP for each week.
• Being selected also increases the chance of having your RMT added to Team Showcase, subject to review.

Requirements

• Make sure your team is viable and effective. If your team doesn't fit into its tier or metagame, or lacks any kind of success, it won't have a high chance of being selected. It doesn't have to be archive worthy though, and it doesn't have to have peaked at #1 - a moderately successful team can make it, but it has to work.
• Your team should be well-presented. If you put effort into presenting your team attractively, people will be more willing to rate it. We appreciate it when you take time to work on the quality of your RMT, as it enhances the quality of the forum.
• Be nice and receptive to people's opinions - no one likes to rate the team of a close-minded person.

Ocean Man - Jaina

Jaina’s Ocean Man is a hyper offense team focussed on abusing rain. Mega Swampert and Kingdra utilise the rain by way of Swift Swim, allowing them to double their speed and making them strong offensive forces in the process. Choice Band Kartana was chosen for the team as it helps pressurise stall and Ferrothorn, which are traditionally problems for rain teams. Forming a VoltTurn core with Pelipper, Magearna is the team’s fifth member. Its ability to check Tapu Lele and opposing Magearna, while providing the team with momentum through Volt Switch, makes Magearna an excellent pick. The final member of the team is Mimikyu, which provides the team with a form of priority and a backup check to threats like Hawlucha thanks to disguise.

Ghost Town - p2

p2's Ghost Town is a balanced team centred around Ditto, a Pokemon that counters many playstyles such as webs, screens and veil. Chansey, Tornadus-T and Toxapex form the defensive backbone of the team, and provide amazing support to Ditto in the form of hazards and Knock Off to cripple Clefable, Ferrothorn and Heatran. The team also has the capability to deal with a huge amount of threats, including Tapu Koko, Kartana, Ash-Greninja thanks to the Regenerator duo. Mega Scizor provides the team with a Steel-type, and a way to gain momentum with U-turn. Choice Band Zygarde provides immediate wallbreaking power for the team, and is especially effective with Toxic Spikes support.

Happyland 2.0 - Jordy

Jordy's Happyland 2.0 is a bulky offense team built around the very threatening Swords Dance Mega Scizor. Zygarde completes the offensive core of the team and pairs well with the former, as it can switch into Fire-types while Scizor takes care of Tangrowth, Tapu Bulu and Clefable. The team also features a solid backbone in Tornadus-T, Gastrodon and Clefable. Tornadus-T provides the team with much-needed speed, a Defogger and another check to Kartana. It also supports the team with Knock Off to remove Celesteela's and Zapdos' items and Taunt to limit Ferrothorn's and Toxapex's effectiveness. Gastrodon is a great answer to offensive threats such as Ash Greninja, Tapu Koko and Steel-types. Clefable provides the team with Stealth Rock and Wish support, while Heatran massively improves the team's matchup against stall thanks to Firium Z and Taunt. It also helps the team deal with Celesteela and Mega Venusaur better.

Grace - Felixx

Felixx's Grace features two Swords Dancer users in Mega Mawile and Gliscor. These Pokemon pair well together as Mega Mawile takes care of Grass-types such as Tapu Bulu while Gliscor keeps the likes of Heatran in check. Tornadus-T provides the team with an excellent pivot thanks to Regenerator and U-turn, as well as a good check to Kartana. Tapu Bulu helps the team deal with common threats like Ash-Greninja and Zygarde. Heatran provides Stealth Rock support and a much-needed check to Tapu Lele, a Pokemon Tapu Bulu has a hard time dealing with without Assault Vest. Reuniclus improves the team's matchup against Mega Latios, Mega Medicham and Hawlucha, while its access to Psychium Z transforms it into a real wincon for the team.

The Lobster and The Bunny - Mimolette

Mimolette's The Lobster And The Bunny is a hyper offense team centred around two Pokemon not commonly seen in the OU metagame - Crawdaunt and Blacephalon. The goal of this offensive core is to limit switch-ins to Blacephalon's Shadow Ball as much as possible, thanks to Crawdaunt's powerful Knock Off that rids the likes of Toxapex and Tapu Bulu of their items. Trick Room Magearna supports Crawdaunt well, and also improves the team's matchup against rain and webs. Ferrothorn provides the team with hazards support, while Choice Scarf Landorus-T provides speed control and allows the team to safely bring in the main wallbreakers. Mega Lopunny, also being quite uncommon these days, was the last addition to the team and benefits from the hazard spam, as well as from the popularity of Steel-types like Heatran.

Ban THIS and THAT and GLARE! - BanDisnDatnMe

THIS and THAT and GLARE! is an unusual take on hyper offense, centred around a paraspam core in Serperior, Zygarde and Druddigon, the latter being a relatively uncommon pick in the OU tier. Druddigon appears to be entirely outclassed, but provides immense value to this team with its ability to compress the roles of Stealth Rock setter, Taunt user, pseudo-hazer and Glare user into one package. Zygarde and Serperior can set themselves up with Dragon Dance and Leaf Storm respectively, with Druddigon's ability to paralyse the likes of Tornadus-T and Landorus-T making them even more dangerous. Kartana and Blacephalon also benefit a lot from team's strategy, and help handle many defensive threats including Ferrothorn, Magearna, Clefable and Tapu Bulu. Mega Gyarados improves the team's matchup against stall, and is in general a very threatening setup sweeper.

All Eyes On Us - Aurella

Aurella's All Eyes On Us is a semi-stall team that showcases Mega Latias. Aurella decided to run a Calm Mind + Shadow Ball set, allowing it to hit Dark-types and OHKO Kartana at +1 SpA. Skarmory provides Spikes support as well as a valuable check to Mega Mawile and Mega Scizor, two big threats for Mega Latias. Toxapex completes the hazard spam with Toxic Spikes, and provides a check to Water-types like Ash Greninja. It also runs Z Gunk Shot to lure in Serperior, Tapu Koko and Tapu Bulu in particular. Clefable provides the team with a way of beating opposite stall teams, thanks to the combination of Calm Mind and Stored Power. Hippowdon provides the team with a Ground-type, a Stealth Rock setter and a check to setup sweepers such as Landorus-T and Zygarde. Finally, Heatran allows the team to better handle Psychic spam, as well as other Heatran.

Better Now - vso

vso’s Better Now is a balance team centred around Curse Snorlax, an unusual sight in the OU metagame. Magnezone performs its usual niche role of trapping Steel-types like Celesteela and Ferrothorn, making it easier for Snorlax to sweep late-game. Payapa Toxapex provides the team with a way to deal with threats like Volcarona, Protean Greninja and Shift Gear Magearna. The fourth member of the team is Swords Dance Tapu Bulu, which helps the team deal with Mega Latios and Clefable, while also providing recovery to the rest of the team thanks to Grassy Terrain. Gliscor is the Ground-type of choice for the team. It provides Stealth Rock support, helps the team keep Heatran in check, and also provides momentum by way of U-turn. Mew is the final Pokemon on the team, checking the likes of M-Medicham and Zygarde and providing the team with Defog support.

sgfhqwoeihighreiogr - Cynde

Cynde's sgfhqwoeihighreiogr is an offensive team based on Focus Sash SD Breloom. Its main focus is on applying pressure with setup sweepers and Taunt. Scizor is paired with Breloom to help it deal with the likes of Togekiss and Latias. Focus Sash allows it to setup on Hidden Power Fire Latia and take a hit from Mega Manectric in a pinch. Talonflame provides the team with a Fire-type resist, and can also take advantage of Choice-locked Infernape or Chandelure. It also has Taunt to setup more easily and to annoy more stallish builds in general. Starmie provides hazard removal support, which is mandatory when using Talonflame or Focus Sash users. Krookodile supports the team nicely by providing Stealth Rock support, a valuable Ground-Type, a Mega Manectric check and a second Taunt user. Mega Absol allows the team to put pressure on defensive builds thanks to Magic Bounce, and provides the team with another form of priority.

UU Stall - pokeisfun

pokeisfun's stall team features common choices like Blissey and Alolomola, but also less common picks such as Crobat. Blissey is the best special wall in the game, checking many threats including Primarina, Hydreigon and Kyurem. Alolomola helps Blissey handle physical threats like Terrakion, Scizor and Cobalion. Quagsire provides a check to Swords Dance Gliscor and its Ground typing allows the team to block Volt Switch users. Mega Aggron is another standard pick on stall, and helps the team deal with Mega Beedrill and Haxorus. Crobat provides Defog support and a check to two important stallbreakers in Serperior and Togekiss. It also runs Haze to completely neutralise the aforementioned threats. Tentacruel is the team's counter to Nasty Plot Infernape and Lucario, which are special attackers that can break through Blissey. It also provides another way to remove hazards, and its Poison typing allows it to absorb Toxic Spikes.

Nebraska - col49

col49's Nebraska is an RU balanced team that showcases Calm Mind + Rock Polish Necrozma. The team features a defensive backbone consisting of Mega Steelix and Milotic, which provide a Steel-type Stealth Rock setter and a bulky Water, respectively, allowing them to check numerous threats in the metagame between them. The offensive core of the team in Noivern, Roserade and Pangoro strives to support Necrozma. Choice Band Pangoro heavily pressurises opposing teams with its powerful attacks, Roserade provides Spikes support and Noivern provides the team with a soft check to the likes of Shaymin and Ninetales, as well as another way to annoy Steel-types, such as Bronzong and Registeel, with the combination of Taunt, Roost and Protect.

Earthquake - Finchinator

Finchinator's Earthquake is a NU balanced team that showcases sand as an archetype. Gigalith is the Sandstorm setter of the team and provides Stealth Rock. Sandslash and Stoutland complete the sand core and can abuse Sand Rush to attempt to sweep the opposing team. Slowbro is a defensive staple and pairs well defensively with Gigalith. Eject Button also allows the team to bring in the Sand abusers relatively safely. Choice Specs Whimsicott provides another wallbreaking force and speed control as well. The last Pokemon, Silvally-Steel, serves many roles on the team such as hazard removal, a secondary Vanilluxe check and a Grass-type check.

Dancing On The Haters - yogi

yogi's Dancing on the Haters is a balanced team that makes use of multiple Pokemon rising in prominence at the time, namely Bellossom and Rotom-Frost. Rotom-Frost works to chip away at Bellossom's specially defensive checks in conjunction with Toxic Spikes, opening the way for a late-game Quiver Dance sweep. The core of Probopass and Hitmonchan allows the team to effectively control the hazard game versus opposing balance, especially builds with Ferroseed. The combination of Hitmonchan, Rocky Helmet Destiny Bond Weezing and Choice Scarf Swanna help to act as emergency checks for opposing setup sweepers, keeping the team going until Bellossom is capable of setting up a sweep.

DPP OU

Iconic - Jirachee

Jirachee's Iconic is a DPP balanced team that focusses on applying pressure with Choice Specs Heatran and setting up a late-game sweep with Jirachi. Zapdos provides the team with an answer to most physical sweepers such as Breloom, Flygon and Metagross. Breloom allows the team to deal with slow walls that would otherwise be difficult to break through. Blissey complements Zapdos well, providing both a special wall that counters the likes of Starmie and Zapdos, and Stealth Rock support. Thunder Wave also provides useful support for Heatran and Breloom. Starmie wraps things up by providing speed control and a way to remove hazards.

Mix And Mega

Giratina Stall - Zorro349

Zorro349's team is an original take on stall centred around Giratina. Ho-Oh and Blissey are two staples of stall teams, providing a Fairy-type check and Wish support, respectively. Gliscor provides hazard removal support and another check to Fire-types, thanks to Venusaurite. Ditto allows the team to deal with most setup sweepers like Zygarde, Ultra Necrozma and Magearna. Toxapex rounds off the team by adding a secondary check to special attackers and a Haze user to improve the team's matchup against Lunala, for instance.
